Asexual people who feel pressured into having sex when they don’t want to and queer people that are afraid or ashamed of having sex even though they want to are actually being repressed by the same societal forces but nobody seems to want to talk about that

The next time you have free time, would you consider drawing that part in fugitive telemetry when Murderbot is standing in front of Ratthi and Gurathin and they're both peeking out from behind it?
I think it's such a delightful mental image and would love to see it in your style. (I also am just curious how you draw murderbots worstie)
Okay. Thank you! Sorry for this super-specific request. You (and your art) are literally amazing.

in order to maintain a consistent cast for murderbot season 2, they should redo artificial condition beat for beat BUT murderbot is daydreaming self-insert sanctuary moon fanfic the whole time with all of presaux as its main characters

Funny how I've watched the show first (thanks Tumblr for making me interested in a new show once again, this is how I learn about new stuff these days) and then read the books (yet to finish System Collapse because I had the urge to reread Network Effect :)) in a span of a month, and these two are completely different and independent in my mind. Meaning, I don't imagine TV!Murderbot when I read the books even though I love TV!Murderbot. I love the show for what it is and rewatch some episodes, but I absolutely adore the books and cannot get enough of these (I usually lurk and share other people's gifsets and smart metas on here; now I feel like posting something daily)))
#this is how i feel about them too#like book!murderbot in my head is completely different#they're like two parallel stories#both good

Misdirection, let’s try that. “I would have either disposed of the body so it was never found, or made it look like an accident.”

Some points I want to make about the Murderbot tv show
As someone who has lived on hippie communes in the past, and who has met and befriended real hippie scientists, they seemed pretty accurate to me. Didn't strike me as mean spirted mocking, but rather light ribbing from the perspective of someone who has interacted with and maybe even IS a hippie type.
As for why make that character choice I'd say that they just make a good contrast to the Corporation Rim. Pres Aux are kind, well meaning, and goofy. They have dorky moments and are bit out of their depth when it comes to political intrigue and violence, which allows for MB to kind of step in and assist them while also rubbing up against their values as idealist pacifists. The corporation rim, and MB to an extent, are ruthless and pessimistic. Pres Aux are caring and optimistic, if a bit naive. And I think the ending of the show really hammers home that...it can be good to be naive. To be hopeful. Both Gurathin and MB learn from the rest of Pres Aux that optimism isn't pointless.
I actually LOVED the character of Leebeebee because she is a perfect way to demonstrate what is WRONG with sexualizing and objectifying MB. We are introduced to her, she's suspicious but her true nature has not been revealed, but we catch glimpses of her deep lack of empathy when she so casually and graphically describes how she would essentially take advantage of MB sexually. And so it serves as foreshadowing and also a kind of warning to the viewer. "Did you laugh when she said that? Imagine she is saying about a real person. Because she is. Not so funny anymore huh" and this is all tied together when she is revealed to be a violent cruel person.
Oh also about the inclusion of sex scenes and specifically the full frontal nudity of MB, it didn't seem gratuitous to me. Like showing MBs naked body, its lack of genitals, both showcases MBs vulnerability when it doesn't have its defenses up and hammers home both its human and inhuman qualities. I dunno I just thought the sequence felt very touching, especially all the parts where MB is being repaired.
#murderbot tv#i do think that the ‘presaux is too silly’ critique is way more telling of what ppl assume academics should br
