Michael Red - Gwey From

lowi010. Gorgeous track here from Michael Red, off his latest EP for his own Low Indigo label, entitled ‘9 of cats’. ‘gwey from’ plods along in stunning free-form fashion, both soothing and surprising. This latest EP oozes confidence, and showcases Red’s considerable sonic range. 

‘9 of cats’ is out now on Low Indigo.

Mr Fingers - Aether

ML-2231. Huge return for Larry Heard, with the first new Mr. Fingers material in more than a decade. Can’t get enough of the seductive groove on B2 track Aether. This one is pretty life affirming. The ‘Outer Acid’ EP is out now on the artists’ own Alleviated Records imprint. One of the more important figures in electronic music period.

Blawan - Lit Up Communicat 

TESC003. Whoa this brand new Blawan record just kills it. The stunning B1 track ‘Lit Up Communicat’ is a tense, obtuse roller. Those pads are especially devastating. 

The ‘Communicat 1022′ EP is out now on the artists own Ternesc imprint. This one follows up a couple brilliant records from last year.

ITX07. Fantastic, surprising new Iliian Tape white label release from Djrum. The searing, unorthodox roll of ‘Untitled 9′ hits deep. This is the A-side cut from the recently released split 12″ with Struction.

Brutaz 001. Tipped debut release here for Polish techno label Brutaz from Jules Venturini. B-side track ‘Selector’s Roll’ is pure class. Could hear that elastic synth line forever.

Can’t get enough of this NYC hiphop from ‘98. Those thick strings are just deadly. Don Gargeyone released this single 12″, with support from DJ Polo who is best known for his golden age classics alongside Kool G Rap.

okpk - private channels

lowi009. Victoria-based artist okpk returns to local label Low Indigo with a fresh set of exploratory hip-hop tracks. Definitely feeling the grime palette of closing track ‘private channels’. This one follows up the IDM feel of the ‘2010′ EP, released on the label back in 2013.

The ‘Hollow’ EP is now up for download on the Low Indigo bandcamp.

MANIA28. The Sex Tags camp closing out 2015 in style with this killer disc from XI, the connection consisting of DJ Fett Burger and SVN. A-side ‘V’ is one of those dance tracks that still feels way too short at 9 minutes. The flipside tracks also don’t disappoint. Huge record all around.
