Thomas sending a tree seed to Richard, who covertly plants it in St. James', where the gardeners are like what's this? Let's let it grow and find out and once they realize it's some fancy tree that doesn’t usually spread to London, they let it be. Or perhaps they are from the gay community and take Richard to plant it there illicitly. It becomes a pride and joy of the garden, and it's never find out the tree was a homosexual love token whose planter walked by it every day he could to see if it was still there (and it always was), until he no longer needed to.
