There are many things I find compelling in Sam and Dean's relationship starting off with the fact they actually like and love each other. And while their tendency to go to the ends of the earth and beyond is really compelling to me, the stakes on the show aren't always life or death. It is a thousand moments in between. It's prank wars and inside jokes and endless hours in a car and movies nights and meals shared and motel rooms and being brothers and friends and lovers and warriors and soulmates. The heart of the show is made in all their bickering and banter and the explicit and implied history and the fact they hold so much space for the other to the point they basically orbit each other.
Like they are ride or die and they grew up too fast and gave up too much and they've both died and lived for each other, but they also laugh when the other one trips and falls and think fart jokes are funny and remember the other one's favorite coffee order and bully each other to eat. The show isn't just about heaven versus hell and the brothers dynamic isn't always about the toxic and codependent world ending shit they'll pull for one another. And that's why I like it so much and could make endless headcanons and text edits and fics about them. Because they contain such multitudes, but the multitudes are all colored by their love for each other.
And none of the high stakes, none of the tragic myth level sacrifice would have the same impact if it wasn't built on that foundation of a thousand soft and silly moments.

jensen: I’m going to take you back, and I just thought of something… pilot episode. Mom’s death. This was… 2005. Visual effects was not really what it is- not even close to what it is today but- we didn’t really have the tools of that trade when we were filming the first season of supernatural, certainly the pilot episode of supernatural. They built a set out in the parking lot- they built that bedroom in the parking lot because they set it on fire. That was a real fire
jared: that was Jess - that was the Jess-
jensen: Oh I’m sorry, yes, that was the Jess - it wasn’t the mom it was the Jess - they built the set in the parking lot, they lit the thing on fire
jared: yeah three walls, the roof, and then there was one empty wall
jensen: and jared was inside this room. and I was outside the room. and I was supposed to wait - I don’t think I’ve ever told you this - I was supposed to wait for a cue from the assistant director to run in and grab him. I did not wait for that cue. I saw - I wasn’t even looking at him. I was watching the flames and I could feel the heat and I know- I mean
jared: I got burned, like - my hair got singed
jensen: and I basically waited as long as I thought I could for you - this is the first time we worked- this is the first episode - and I’m watching it - he’s [the AD] over here and he’s supposed to give me a cue like ā€˜okay now go’ and I’m like ā€˜screw you, dude, I’m gonna try to make sure that this guy is safe’ and the flames went- it burned much quicker than they anticipated, and it got so hot in there, so quickly, I just ran in and grabbed you. That was- that was a difficult scene to shoot.

this is interesting. i don't know why i presumed a lot more people were out here using beta readers.
I don't have a beta reader currently, but I used to send as I wrote. I can't imagine doing that now. I think if I had a beta reader, I would send a third or fourth draft, but I'm curious what other people think. Is this my way of testing the waters to possibly ask for a beta reader? Maybe...
Please reblog. I need the data. Thank you!
