Puncha Nazi by Doll Skin, I feel, is a heavily underrated song when it’s the song we need right now. Seriously, if you’ve never heard it, you need to listen to it, it could save your life.

AS YOU RAN UP the stairs that lead to the funeral home, you noticed muffled voices coming from the inside, loud voices, as if whoever was inside the funeral home were all yelling and arguing with one another.
You decided to change your mind and run back to your car and wait for the rain to stop pouring, but you picked up a familiar voice that belonged to your boyfriend Luke. At least you knew you had the right address and someone you knew was already there. You cautiously turned the knob of the door and let yourself inside, all the back and forth yelling and even yelling all at once from at least four people were loud and clear as day until they stopped when they realized someone had walked in.
All you wanted was to see Luke as soon as you heard what had happened to his younger twin sister Nell and even meet his siblings and pay your respects, upon realization you walked in at the wrong time where all his siblings were fighting.
You smiled sheepishly at them. “Is this a bad time?”
“No, it’s okay!” you see Luke get up from one of the chairs. He takes the flowers from your hands that were for Nell in her casket and he turns to his older brother and two sisters. “Er, everyone this is Y/N.”

IT WAS LIKE EVERYTHING AROUND YOU stopped moving as soon as you looked up and met the same blue eyes. You never thought you would ever see Cook again as you had moved out of Bristol to study at your university. What were the odds?
He looked a bit older since it’s been a few years since you all graduated college. He grew his hair and he looked much healthier than when he was partying, doing drugs and alcohol before. When you left, that was when the two of you broke up. All the drama with Effy and Freddie was far too stressful, given the situation that you found out was far too dangerous for young teenagers to ever go through: all you wanted was a fresh start. When you had bumped into him you were aware that he was in a rush, but as soon as he realized you were in front of him, he stood still and never took his eyes off you.
You both felt a sensation, a spark, it was like falling in love all over again. It was a bittersweet feeling between the both of you, but you both were keen to feel it all over again and again.
“Well fuck,” Cook said after a moment of silence. “Hi Y/N.”

ROSA SAID IT SO CASUALLY you were so caught off guard because of that. You felt your ears ringing and you almost knocked over your coffee cup as soon as you heard the words come out of her mouth.
Of all people…
“Me? You want me to team up with you for the Halloween Heist?” you said.
She nodded, resting her feet on the top of the chair as she was sitting on top of the lounge desk.
“Rosa, you know I’m the worst at heists. Last year I lost because Hitchcock and Scully made me give up my hiding spot and then Jake found it, and even the year before that, that was when Jake used it to propose to Amy. You would kill me because I would ruin it for the both of us.”
“Well, third time’s a charm if we work together,” Rosa shrug.
“But why me?”
“Because,” she shrugs again. “I like you. And we’re both so freakin’ powerful we’d blind everybody. You’re a fast runner too, even in heels. It’s pretty hot.”

One of the reasons men didn’t have an issue with Wonder Woman is because they can objectify her. She’s basically in a metal swimsuit. Now, I think they did a really good job with her costume considering what they had to work with. It looked like real armor and something that an Amazon woman would wear, way better than past iterations where she was literally in lingerie. Captain Marvel, on the other hand, is in a full suit that covers her entire body. It fits her well, but it’s not a skintight bodysuit like what Black Widow has worn before.  It’s practical and isn’t something that men can easily objectify. They didn’t have problems with some of the feminist stuff in Wonder Woman because they were too busy staring up her skirt. Men don’t have an issue with a woman on screen if it’s someone they can objectify.

Warnings: None??? I could be wrong
Tumblr media
A few weeks had passed and Y/n hadn’t made much progress. Jessica had forced her to work on teleporting. She was gaining strength, that she knew, but all she could do now was teleport too far away places. If she wanted to go to Switzerland or Greece, great! She could get there, no problem, but teleporting down the street or the next city over was where she was stuck. Her mind and body wanted to, thinking long and hard about it, but nothing would happen. The sensation that always came over her when she teleported would linger for a few seconds but then vanish.
Y/n huffed from her place on the concrete floor, a yoga mat underneath her. Jessica was right when she said that a warehouse would be the best place to train. She was trying to meditate in hopes that maybe if she relaxed her body it would relax her powers. But she didn’t really know what she was doing, she never had any reason to even think about meditating before then. And she was far from relaxed.
How could she be relaxed when Stark Industries started working with the company that made her. The company that profited off of her.
She was sure that everyone thought that the tension between her and her parents was normal, considering the fact that many people didn’t get along with their parents. But they didn’t understand. Tony was a man of science, but he had morals, ethics, and values. Those people did not. Her parents did not. They knew no such thing when they saw dollar signs instead of helpless children. All they wanted was money and that is what they were going to get from working with Stark, from working with the Avengers. Hell, the technology that they had developed probably had roots in the people they had experimented on.
“Just relax,” she told herself, trying to get the tension out of her shoulders. “Just relax, calm down and breath.”
She re-positioned herself, but it did no use. There was no way she could concentrate on that. On anything, really.
Y/n laid back on the mat, giving up on meditating. It seemed that it just wasn’t her cup of tea. Not then at least. Opening her eyes, she was met with the ceiling of the warehouse. It was completely different from the night sky that she had laid under the first time she had teleported in years. But this, the ceiling, made her cold. It wasn’t awe-inspiring or something that she had never laid her eyes on. It was bland. It was the last thing that anyone would want to see when they open their eyes.
“I just need to fucking relax!” Her voice echoed off the high ceiling, bouncing around. “Just relax. What the Avengers do is their problem, not mine. No matter how stupid it is.”
The words were meant to be reassuring and maybe they would have been to someone, but they just weren’t doing the job for her. As much as she knew that what they did was no longer her problem, she had a feeling that they were getting themselves into something that would be hard to get out of. If she hadn’t left, hadn’t run away, then she would’ve been able to stop them.
“No, no you wouldn’t, Y/n. You wouldn’t,” she told herself. There was nothing she could have done then. It wasn’t like she would have been willing to talk to them, to open up about why she hated her parents so much. So how would they be able to understand why she didn’t want them to work with them? They would just brush it off as her trying to get away from them, but it was more than that.
Instead of trying to work on teleporting, which never got her anywhere good, she opened her palm. An image, almost like it was real, danced above her open hand. It was a ballerina, something she had always wanted to be when she was younger. Of course, she was too “sick” for that dream to ever come true, but she was well enough to watch in on tv. The image that leaped around like it was a living thing was dancing to a routine from the Nutcracker, one of her favorites.
Y/n sat there, for god knows how long, watching the tiny dancer. It was about the only good thing that she though ever came from her powers. It gave her peace when she couldn’t find any.
It made her feel less lonely in the world.

The quinjet was buzzing with life as everyone was trying to come down from the high that missions always created. The adrenaline still pumping through their veins. But Peter wasn’t one of them. He was feeling off and it had nothing to do with the mission or the adrenaline.
He thought that everything, all the emotions of losing Y/n would hit him sooner rather than later, but he was wrong. It took time, but those emotions were creeping up on him. The moments when he would want to share something with her, they started to overtake him. Anytime he would turn around, hoping that she would be walking through the door to ask him about his day, they grew stronger. It seemed that everything he did made them grow and grow. He hadn’t realized how much his life revolved around Y/n until she was gone. And to think he had hoped that she would never leave him.
“You alright?” Steve asked from beside him. He had taken a beating, a bruise forming on his jaw.
Peter nodded. That’s all he could ever do. No one, as much as they tried to, could understand what he was feeling. Everyone always said they understood, but he knew that nothing they had gone through compared to what he was going through,
“You sure? You look a little lost.”
Peter sighed, leaning back, resting his head on the metal of the jet. “I feel lost. I feel lost without her.”
The man nodded, giving him an apologetic smile. Steve had seen how much Peter and Y/n cared about each other and he knew that it must have ripped a massive hole in Peter’s heart to have her leave. But that was life. Steve had missed out on the chance to be with the love of his life and there was nothing he could do about it. Nothing but move on. That’s what Peter needed to do, but he couldn’t bring himself to say that. “She’ll come back one day. So don’t dwell on it.”
He scoffed. There was no chance she would be coming back anytime soon, not when they were now working with her parents. Tony had brushed it off as her parents only worked for the company, but Peter knew better than to believe that. He had seen them around the facility, they weren’t just blue collar workers. They seemed to be in charge, always snapping at people and telling anyone that would listen what to do. They were more than what Tony played them off to be. And Peter had a feeling they were more than what they wanted people to think.
There had to be a bigger reason to Y/n’s hatred for them then what everyone thought.
Looking around, Peter furrowed his brows at a watch that Tony was handing out to everyone. Peter reluctantly took the one handed to him, looking it over. “What is this?”
“It’s to monitor your health,” the billionaire stated, putting his own on. “So that when we’re in the field, we’re at our best and know when it’s time to tap out.”
Peter nodded, running his hand over the screen. Turning it over, he noticed that there wasn’t a Stark or Avengers’ logo on the back, instead it had the logo of the company they had just started working with. The company that he was weary about trusting. “You didn’t make these?”
“No,” Tony brushed the question off.
Over the past couple of weeks, ever since Tony signed the contract, new technology poured into their hands. It wasn’t as advanced as anything Strak could create, but it used different materials and accomplished things in ways he couldn’t. Either way, the Avengers were forced to use it all. That was part of the contract.
No one questioned it, they all understood what the contract stated, but Peter didn’t like it. He knew that everyone probably felt the same as him, but they knew better than to speak their minds. There was nothing they could do about it, they had to follow the contract and using the new technology was apart of that. And, perhaps, no one wanted to speak up about it because they knew that it would lead back to Y/n.
It seemed that everyone around him was walking on glass. Or so they thought. Everyone, even Friday, tried their hardest to keep Y/n off Peter’s mind as much as they could. And when they couldn’t do that, they gave him false hopes. As happy as Petter tried to appear for them, nothing they did worked. Nothing anyone did worked. Aunt May had tried to visit more, bring Peter’s favorite baked goods with her. The joy of her visits were often overshadowed by the whole in his heart. He tried to go see Ned, thinking that maybe his friend would be able to distract him.
He was wrong. Nothing could
“Peter? Are you even listening?”
He looked up from the watch to see Tony looking at him with a concerned look. One that everyone always had around him. They acted like he was going to break. “Um… No, sorry. What were you saying?”
Adjusting his watch, Tony stated, “I was telling you how I’m going to Rio tomorrow and was wondering if you wanted to tag along.”
Peter nodded. It wasn’t like he had anything to do. It seemed that with Y/n gone, he never had anything to do. He suddenly had all the time in the world and he was unsure what to do with it. “Yeah, that sounds like fun.”
Even the birds outside the jet could hear it in his voice, it wouldn’t be fun.
*~~~~~*
All she could hear was the pounding of her head, blood rushing to her wounds, as she fell against a wall. This was not going according to plan. Y/n pushed herself up, using the wall for support as the person in front of her lashed out, striking her in the jaw, the force knocking her back onto the ground.
She just needed to think, that’s what Jessica had said. She needed to clear her mind, think straight. Not let her emotions get the best of her.
There was no way Y/n could do that. Not when all she felt was pain.
But she had to get up. She had to fight her way through this, that was the only way she could learn. There was no one there to save her but herself. And she couldn’t fail. She wasn’t going to allow herself to fail.
Standing up, her knees shaking against her weight, she rose, spitting out the blood that had collected in her mouth. Being a vigilante was not something that had ever crossed her mind as a career option, but Jessica was right, it’s good for training. It didn’t pay the bills, but it at least gave her something to do.
“It’s a shame you don’t know how to stay down, little miss. Now I’m gonna have to kill you,” a hoarse voice sneered at her.
Y/n laughed as best she could, her ribs crying out at the action.
Don’t think.
Don’t think.
Don’t think.
She told herself, trying to stand her ground. It would be easy. Just like she’d practiced with Jessica. She just needed to clear her mind. Not think. She could do it, she could do damage just like any of the Avengers. Just like Natasha. Just like Carol. She just needed to stop thinking. Stop distracting herself.
The person that stood in front of her was having none of it. They didn’t care what she needed to do as they snatched her up, Y/n struggling against their grip, bringing her over to the window.
“We’re on the sixth floor, little miss. So, I imagine the fall will do some damage, but I’ll let you find that out.”
Y/n twisted and turned in their grip, putting her feet against the wall in an attempt to keep from being shoved out the window. This was not how she wanted to end this. Taking a deep breath, she tried to relax her body as best she could. Inhaling, she closed her eyes, images of her training appearing on her eyelids.
Exhaling, something took over her, wipping her mind and taking over her sense. It all happened in seconds. The threat of being thrown out the window no longer existed as she stood above her threat. Bending down, Y/n check for a pulse, finding that they were out cold. That wasn’t what she intended to do, but at that point in time she wasn’t really sure what she had intended to do. It all happened so fast, she wasn’t even quite sure what had happened.
Brushing herself off, Y/n walked out of the room, leaving a body in her wake.
Once out in the cold New York air, she pulled out her phone, dialing Jessica’s number. It rang for quite a while, her friend was probably asleep, before someone picked up.
“Do you know what time it is?,” Jessica’s sleepy voice came through the phone.
“It’s 1:23 and I did it.”
There was silence.
“Jessica? You still there?” Y/n asked before snoring could be heard through the line. Ending the call, she shoved her phone back where she found it. It was no surprise that Jessica fell asleep. Sleep was on the top of her list when it came to value. Y/n’s, not so much. She was now lucky to get a full night's sleep. Her mind was always racing, going 200 mph.
Y/n walked back to the warehouse that Jessica and her had been training in. Over the past couple of weeks she had tried her hardest to make it somewhat of a home. In one corner, furthest from the door, were three rooms, probably where the people managing the building would work. The three rooms consisted of a bathroom, a kitchen, and an office, just enough space for Y/n to make into a home.
Going to the kitchen, she opened the cabinet that housed all the first aid. It was completely full. Jessica thought it would be best to keep everything on hand because they didn’t know what worst case scenario would be. Grabbing everything she would need, Y/n set it on the table.
Sitting back in one of the chairs, she looked at everything around her. This was not the life she had wanted. But it was better than what she had started out with and that had to mean something. For once in her life she was taking control and trying to figure out who she was.
That had to be enough.
*~~~~~*
“Why are we now just hearing about this?” Steve asked, from his place at the conference room table. Everyone was on edge, just getting back from a hard mission. Things hadn’t gone as they had planned, causing a few members to be injured. It wasn’t too bad, they had all been through worse, but they all wanted to rest instead of have yet another meeting.
Peter rubbed his face, wincing when his fingers danced over a bruise that was forming on his cheek. He looked up at Tony, who was looking at the screen in front of them.
Tony turned to Steve, answering his question. “I don’t know. The NYPD thought that it was just some regular vigilante. That was, of course, until they saw this.” He touched the screen, playing a video that had been captured on a body camera.
Everyone wasn’t sure what they were witnessing, it was like nothing they had seen before. The vigilant was running, the cops feet behind, until they just disappear right in the middle of the street. There was no flash, no light, no darkness, no nothing. The person just vanished in thin air.
Natasha was the first to speak up, her eyes showing confusion like everyone else’s. “How long has this been going on?”
Tony took a seat, facing his team. “They know, for sure, that it has been going on for at least two weeks, but they think that a few other cases can be linked back to this same person.”
“And how long would that make it then?” she asked, looking at the screen that displayed pictures of all the people the vigilant had practically handed to the NYPD.
“A month.”
Everyone nodded.
“And why do they want our help?” Clint asked, fiddling with an arrow. “Whoever is doing this is doing a better job than the cops at catching these people.”
It was hard to disagree with that, but they all knew that vigilantes did nothing but create more violence. They had their own system of law that often went against the one already in existence.
Tony shrugged, “They want us to catch this vigilant and make them apart of our team and allow them to work with the NYPD. You know, so the public can’t say that a masked man is doing more work than they are.”
Steven shook his head. That’s not what the Avengers were about. They did not take in vigilantes, they were a team. They worked as one, lived as one. No one went off on their own. No one went rogue and that’s what would likely start to happen if they allowed this. “No.”
“No?” Tony raised a brow. “Why not?”
“Because we-” Steve gestured to everyone. “-come as a package. People can’t just hire one of us like we’re paid assassins. The NYPD is just gonna have to figure this out.”
“The mayor’s not gonna like that answer.”
“What if,” Peter put in, “we help catch this person and let them do what they want with them? Then it’s not really our problem.”
Tony nodded. There was a reason he liked Peter. “How does that sound, old man?” he looked a Steve, waiting for a response.
The plan would have to do. It seemed as more and more inhumans and mutants emerged, they were often treated like a disease, people doing their best to rid the world of them. Earlier that morning, the Avengers ate breakfast while the news reported of the murder of an inhuman, who happened to work for the governor, that was killed for something they couldn’t change. It was a shame, how the public decided to handle this. They acted like these people, who were barely different than them, were against them. That these people existed to tear everything done. That wasn’t true. So, Steve couldn’t help but agree with Peter’s idea. Who knows the type of force the NYPD would use in catching an inhuman or mutant? They weren’t going to take any chances and find out.
“Alright,” the man gave in. “We catch them, but nothing more than that.”
With everyone in agreement, the team moved from their places and shuffled out of the room, leaving Steve and Tony behind. The two sat in silence for a few moments, unsure how to go about the topic they needed to discuss.
“So,” Tony drawled, “Pepper showed you the other videos, right?”
Steve tapped his fingers against the table. He had seen them, he was just unsure what to make of them.
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
“Tony, what do you want me to do? He’s going to find out either way.”
Tony ran his fingers through his hair, trying to find an answer to the question. “I know. It’s just… I just…”
No matter what he could think up, there was nothing he could do. Peter would eventually find out. And no matter the spin anyone put on it, the kid would be crushed. There was no avoiding it. It seemed that Peter had the worst luck in the world and there was nothing Tony or Steve or anyone could do about it.
The two men sat in silence, trying to think up ways they could avoid the inevitable. The video that Tony had mention was playing on repeat in their heads. The vigilant jumping off a building, turning around just in time for the camera to capture their face. And in the dim light of the night, Y/n’s face was barely a flash, but the two men knew that it couldn’t be anyone else. It was her.
It was the last person they thought it would be.

All the Avengers were gathered around a large conference table, all equally confused. But known as much as Peter. He simply couldn’t comprehend the note that he was holding in his hands. Everything had been fine. Life was great. At least up until a few days ago, so he didn’t understand why Y/n chose to drop everything when life got tough. That just wasn’t the woman he knew, the one he’d fallen in love with.
None of it made sense. Not her behavior, not her body language, not even the note that she had left for them. The note, that made the least sense. He could understand that she needed space, but she could have told him that, told everyone to leave her alone for a while. But she didn’t do that. Instead, she had left a vague note for them to decipher like they were playing some game. And what hurt the most was that not once had she mentioned him, the person that would be most affected by her actions.
It doesn’t make sense, I know, and I'm sorry. I hate that I have hurt any of you in running off like I did.
But I can’t stay here and pretend like my world perfectly fits together.
It’s all made up of piece from different puzzles and I have finally decided to make them fit.
But I can’t do that here as much as you all may want me to. This is something that I have to do myself. A journey that only I can take.
I love each and every one of you, I love you all so much that I need to learn to love myself. I can’t put any of you through something that isn’t your problem.
I swear I’ll be back, I don’t know when, but I will so you better not get rid of my office. I love you guys.
“You should have gone after her,” Carol sighed, glaring at Tony. The billionaire just shrugged, that chance was gone now as Y/n’s phone sat in front of him on the table. He just wanted to give her space and he thought he made the right decision when doing that.
Peter gave the man a puzzling look.. “You knew where she was this whole time?”
Tony sighed.
They were all on edge. As much as they wanted to respect Y/n and give her all the space she needed, they couldn’t stand being in the dark. They wanted to know what caused her to run and what continued to cause her to stay away. Was it more than her mother? Was it them? Was it wounds that could never heal?
“Yes, kid. I knew where she was this whole time,” he stated, feeling his heart sink as Peter’s face dropped. He had been torn between doing what was best for Y/n and what was best for Peter. And it seemed that neither were winners as Peter was lost and heartbroken and Y/n was god knows where doing god knows what. But that was the price he paid as the leader, as the decision maker. No wonder many in power were so corrupt, it was easiest to make hard decisions when you don’t care about the feelings of others.
Peter sunk into one of the chairs, wiping a hand over his face.
It was all too much.
He should have known something was up. He should have caught on when Y/n froze up at the sight of her mother. He should have been a good boyfriend and known from the start that something was wrong. But he didn’t. He didn’t even know the slightest reason as to why she had run off.
God, he wasn’t sure what he knew anymore. It seemed that all he knew was that he knew nothing. He couldn’t even give anyone a good clue as to why she might have left. Sure, it could have been her parents, but he didn’t know that. She could have just resented them from something that happened a long time ago. All he could tell them was that she was gone, that was all he knew for sure.
“Did anyone even see her enter the building?” Bucky asked, leaning against the door frame. He didn’t know the girl that well, but seeing how her disappearance had caused so much pain, he knew that she meant a lot to those that knew her.
Everyone shook their head but Natasha who was as still as a statue.
In the back of her mind, she knew that she should have stopped Y/n. Kept her from leaving so that they could help her with whatever she needed. But she wanted to trust the girl, she wanted to give her the space she wanted. And she trusted in her heart that Y/n would make the right choice and stay. But that didn’t happen. Y/n didn’t do any of the things that everyone wished she had.
But maybe that was best. It hurt Natasha to think that, but Y/n was far from stupid. Maybe she knew that leaving was best, for her and for everyone.
“Nat,” Steve spoke up, eyeing the assassin. “Did you see her?”
Blowing out air, she looked at the ceiling. All her training hadn’t prepared her for something like this. It hadn’t prepared her for friendships and heartaches. Those were more dangerous than bullets and knives. “I… I bumped into her as she was going to her room last night.”
“And you decided to keep that to yourself, why?” Carol inquired, furious at the fact that they could have kept this from happening.
Natasha sighed, looking at Peter who was going over the note again as if new words would appear. “She-Y/n asked me to not mention that she was here. I know that I should have said something.” She looked at Tony as she said it as she knew he was about to interject. “But I didn’t. She… she was soaking wet and cold and just needed to dry off and I didn’t feel that it was right to tell everyone.”
Tony scoffed, folding his arms over his chest. “Your job is literally to rat out other people. You steal secrets for a living! How is this any different?”
“She is our friend, Tony!” She stood up, slamming her hand on the table. “Our family and we have to just hope and pray that she will come back. We can’t go after her like we do criminals!”
Peter shook his head, folding the paper in his hands up and sticking it in his pocket before leaving the room. He couldn’t handle much more. Much more of the question of whether Y/n would come back or not. Whether they should find her or not. He wanted to trust her and believe that she would return, but blind faith was just something he didn’t have. Love may be blind, but his faith was not. And he wasn’t sure if he had any in her at the moment, not when she didn’t even say goodbye to him.
“What are we gonna do then?” Carol asked. It wasn’t like she would be able to do much, she had to get back to space before someone fucked something up, but she couldn’t leave without hearing at least one plan, no matter how horrible it was.
Everyone looked at Tony, waiting for him to say something. They all knew how much Peter meant to him and they knew that this would hit Tony the hardest. Not only would he be worried sick about Y/n but he would be forced to watch it eat at Peter. And that wasn’t fair.
“We could… We can’t do anything,” he frowned. “All we can do is wait. She’ll come around when she’s ready, but until then we can’t do anything. We don’t even know where she’s at-” He held up her phone.” -so we just have to wait.”
It was the answer that everyone saw coming, even Peter who was no longer in the room. It was the only one that made sense. They would just have to wait it out. Go about their normal lives like nothing had happened, like nothing had changed.
Tony stood from his seat, exiting the room to find Peter. Everyone was too busy worrying over what to do to think much of him leaving. But Tony knew that this would break him. The poor kid had dealt with enough loss and pain, he didn’t need more. Tony jogged up to Peter, who was walking to his room. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Tony shrugged. “Alright. I’ll do all the talking then. If you want we can try and find her. I’m sure Fury would be willing to help if we send Carol to ask. Or we could do nothing and wait-”
“No,” he mumbled.
As much as he wanted her by his side, there was a reason she wasn’t. Whatever the reason was, he had a feeling it was one he wouldn’t like. So, would it be worth it to find her? What if she just left again? What if they could no longer look each other in the eye? What if they brought her back just for her to leave again? It wasn’t worth it to him. He loved her, there was no doubt about that.  He loved her enough to know that it was just best to let everything play out. Let the cards fall how they may and move on.
“Okay, then we won’t,” Tony said cautiously, unsure why Peter didn’t even want to try. “I’m sorry, kid. I really am. You shouldn’t have to go through this.”
Peter shrugged, running a hand through his hair. No one deserved to go through it. “It doesn’t matter. She’s gone and I’m just gonna have to live with it.”
Tony gave him a sad smile, “If that’s what you want.”
He stopped, watching Peter walk off. The kid was so used to loss that it really didn’t surprise the man anymore. Peter had lost his parents and his uncle. He was no stranger to losing those closest to him. But it still pained Tony that he had to go through that again. That he had to suffer like that but still want to push past it. It wasn’t fair. The pain wasn’t fair but there was nothing anyone could do. Peter didn’t want to go after her, so no one was going to go after her.

“What are we gonna do now?” Y/n asked, leaning back in her chair, putting her feet on the table in front of her.
Jessica shrugged. She didn’t think that they would get that far. She thought that Y/n would run back to the Avengers after a few days, that she’s run back to Peter, but that wasn’t the case. She was serious about controlling her powers. “Well, there are a couple of abandoned warehouses we can train at.”
Y/n raised a brow. She had just barely grasped control over one of her powers, that didn’t mean that she was ready to train. “I don’t think I’m ready for that.”
“Then when will you be ready?” her friend questioned. “As much as I hate the idea of training, too, it’ll be good for you. You have to train your body to train your mind, at least that’s what I’ve been told.”
Y/n rolled her eyes. This was not what she expected. She thought that Jessica would tell her to figure it out on her own. To go somewhere and learn to control it. But it seemed that she was wrong. Her friend wanted to help her and she hated that. That was the reason she ran from the people that she called her family. The reason she left everything she had to her name behind. She didn’t want their help. It wasn’t their problem, it was her’s.
“You don’t have to, Jessica. I can figure this all out on my own.”
The woman shook her head, black locks whipping about. “No. You won’t be able to on your own. And I have nothing better to do, so I’m helping you.”
“It’s gonna get weird.”
“How would you know?” Jessica asked, standing to get a beer. “You never use your powers.”
Y/n shrugged. She had a good point. But it was probably gonna get weird either way. There was no telling what her powers were going to throw at them. And that was terrifying, but Jessica seemed unphased as she had probably dealt with weirder. The man at the corner deli had probably dealt with weirder. New York was just one of those cities. Weird shit happened and no one bats an eye. “Good point. How about we just expect to expect the unexpected?”
Jessica whistled, staking a seat across the table from her. “Beat you can't say that five times fast.”
“Do you think this will actually work- that I’ll be able to control it?”
“You’ve got to start somewhere and I guess wanting to control is the best place to start, but I don’t know. I’m about as fucked up as you so I wouldn’t know.”
It seemed that no one would know. There was no way to know anything about the unknown, not until you jumped right in it. For years Y/n dreamed about taking that leap and conquering her fears but it was always too dark. No one ever talked about how dark the dark side could really get. They only talked about the bright light on the other side. But as much as that helped, as much as knowing that there was something other than darkness out there, it didn’t. She wanted to know how bad the darkness could really get. How hard she would have to work to get past it and into the light.
That also made her question how long it would take. She knew that it would take more than a few days, more than a few times of practice. And she was willing to wait. Willing to take all the time in the world to figure herself out, but she wasn’t sure everyone else was. In the back of her mind, she knew that Peter wouldn’t wait for her. As much as he probably wanted to, time had a way of making people forget. If it took years, he would probably move on, find someone else that made him happy and that wouldn’t fly the coop at the first sign of danger. The Avengers would probably forget her name and give her office to someone else who would be there every day to do the job every day. It was inevitable if she were to take her time.
Life would move on without her. It would have to.

Fever Dream Part 2
A/N’s: I’m shocked that so many of you guys loved this story. Like I thought it would turn out like crap and I guess it didn’t. I don’t know if any of you guys even thought about it, but that woman that was mentioned in the first fic, Jessica, just so happens to be one of my favorite Marvel characters, Jessica Jones. I just thought I’d let you know before we jump into the story. And I think I’m gonna turn this into a series. Let me know if I should. As usual, don’t be afraid to send in requests and I would love to get feedback. I hope you guys enjoy.

Masterlist
Peter Parker x Reader
Summary:  Leaving her past behind her, Y/n finally has the life she’s been waiting for, working for the Avengers and being around people that love her. But that all comes crashing down when her past comes back to haunt her and she’s forced to deal with it. But she doesn’t believe that those closest to her will stay by her side, even her boyfriend, Peter, when her secrets come out.

Y/n sighed, watching as her breath turned white in the cold air. She pumped her legs back and forth, hitting the building underneath as she watched the city below. As dangerous as sitting on the ledge was, there was no fear in her eyes. Not when she had spent so many nights doing it in high school. She had never been afraid of heights, not when the fall wouldn’t do any damage. And being up so high, it made her feel free. Free from all her problems and her fears.
After what happened with her mother, after seeing her for the first time in years, Y/n could do nothing but run. She couldn’t bear to see the look on Peter’s face, the shock, the hurt. Even though her heart her, every emotion pulling at her, she couldn’t help but worry about him. He was the first person to show her unconditional love and she feared that she ruined that. That she ruined the first good thing to happen to her in her whole life. But she knew no solution but to run.
But the fear of being disgusted by what she was, what she could do, fogged over everything. She couldn’t handle the thought of losing those she cared about over something she couldn’t change. It was what she feared above all. She had heard of other kids like her who had been kicked out of their homes, beaten, abused, and killed for what they were born with. It wasn’t like they had any choice in what they were by blood. All they could do was live with who they were and make the best of it. But those around them couldn’t do the same and Y/n feared that she would meet the same fate as some of those unlucky kids.
“Are you gonna stay out here all night?”
Y/n turned around to see Jessica walking towards her with a bottle of Jack, dark purple bruises covering her knuckles. As much as she wanted to ask, Jessica would always give her the same answer. And it wasn’t like she didn’t know what the woman got up to when she had time to spare. Turning back to look at the city around her, she shrugged. “I like it up here. I missed this view. This is one thing the Avengers don’t have”
Jessica took a seat next to her, her back facing the street below. She was worried about the poor girl who spent most of her time, since arriving, on the roof. “You’re gonna have to deal with your problems eventually, you know,” she stated, opening the bottle in her hand and taking a drink.
Y/n grumbled. There were no other options, she knew that. If she kept ignoring her problems then she would always have them. They would probably end up ruining her life. But it wouldn’t be easy, not when she had never tried to deal with them before. “I don’t know how,” she sighed.
Did anyone know, though?
“Are you talking about your parents or your abilities?”
“Parents are easy. I’ve avoided them for ages.” She fiddled with her fingers, thinking back to the last thing her mother said to her. You’re just afraid of what you are, Y/n. Truth be told, she was. She was completely afraid of who she was. She was terrified by the powers she possed. Powers that were bigger and stronger than her. “It’s just… I don’t want to hurt anyone.”
Jessica nodded, brushing a loose strand of black hair out of her face. It looked like she’d gotten into it with someone, obviously, her strength had done little to help her. “You don’t even know if you can hurt anyone. The only way to know is to practice.” Setting the bottle on the ground, she turned to the girl next to her. “And I think you should, otherwise, I’ll have to hear you complain about it until I die.”
She had a good point. If she didn’t deal with it now while it was the root of her problems, she wouldn’t want to go near the subject when it was the least of her worries. “How do I practice?”
The woman smiled, looking over the edge of the building. Y/n didn’t like that look one bit. “No. No, no, no, no. It won’t end well,” she shook her head, knowing exactly what Jessica was thinking. Out of all the powers she posed, of course, Jessica wanted her to use the most unpredictable one.
There was no way it was going to end well. It never did.
Jessica raised a brow. “I don’t see what the problem is. Unless your brain’s a bitch, you’ll be fine.”
“No-” Before Y/n could continue protesting, Jessica pushed her over the edge, watching her fall to the ground until the girl vanished in mid-air.
“Well, look at that. That bitch might just might know what she’s doing.” She picked up the bottle of Jack, taking a long drink. “There is hope for her yet.”
She walked back into the building, deciding to wait for Y/n to return in a much warmer environment.
*~~~~~*
All Y/n could see was the dark, starless night sky above her, her body cutting through the air as she plummeted to the ground. Anyone in her position would be freaking out, overpowering their heart and mind as the end would be the only thing to come to mind. Waiting to feel the harsh concert against their skin. But as Y/n fell, catching the sight of Jessica above, her heart was beating at a normal pace and all she could think of was water. Something that would absorb her. Her body had taken over, knowing that the fall would do no damage. Relaxing. And before she knew it, she was plunged into darkness, cold liquid encasing her. But it wasn’t concrete or blood that surrounded her.
Pushing her way to the surface, Y/n’s head popped up out of the water, giving her a chance to catch her breath. All around her, on every side, where trees and the sky above was littered with stars. Something that she never saw in the city. “Shit.”
This always happened.
It was an ability that she dared not use as it was often unpredictable. She had the power to almost teleport, but it often seemed that her powers had a mind of their own. They often did whatever they pleased. With teleporting, it often became a problem when she thought about going somewhere. In the middle of biology once, she had thought about going to a pizza place after school for dinner and it seemed that’s just what her powers wanted as in the blink of an eye she was a pizza place. One in Maine. So, she learned not to trust that power. It did what it wanted. When she said one thing, it did another. What was worse was that not only could she jumped to places, but she could jump to different times as well, which was great, until she ended up in the middle of the Civil War. It was like Outlander, but ten times worse and real.
Swimming to the shore, she started to wonder where she was. Water was very vague. She could have ended up in the ocean, which wouldn’t have been any better. But it would have been better than the middle of god knows where. It wasn’t like she trusted her powers enough to use them to get back to New York.
The only power she would want to use if she had it was a flashlight. That would actually be pretty cool, no more wasting your phone battery or having to go find a flashlight if you were one. But she wasn’t a human flashlight, just a human science experiment.
Once on shore, she laid on the soft dirt, looking up at the sky above. This is what she was afraid of. That she would be unable to control herself and end up in a bad situation. She was just glad that she had never accidentally teleported while around Peter or the rest of the Avengers.
She had a feeling that would freak more than just her out.
Thinking about Peter made her think about all his calls that she had avoided. It seemed that everyone and their mother had called her after she left, blowing up her phone. She didn’t blame them, it showed they cared, but the last thing she wanted was to talk to any of them. She had no damn clue what to say. It wasn’t like telling them that she was a vegan or something, it wasn’t just something that they could brush off and continue about their day like nothing happened. It wasn’t even something she could brush off.
Y/n dug in her back pocket, hoping that her phone was still there. It was the only way she would get out of the unknown around her. Her fingers brushed over a solid surface and she pulled it out, putting it close to her face.
“This better work. I would hate to be a bear’s snack,” she mumbled to herself, trying to turn the phone on. Tony had given everyone z new phone a few months back, he personally designed them. They were supposed to work in all sorts of conditions and always have service. As much as she wanted to believe that, with her luck, she wouldn’t be surprised if her’s didn’t work.
After a few seconds of pressing the power button, the screen turned white before showing her lock screen, a picture of her and Peter during a trip to Quebec as her background. “Yes! Thank the gods!”
Opening her phone, she sat up. It was sad that this was probably the highlight of her week. But it was a lifesaver. She opened the phone app and all she could do was stare at her contacts list. The list was small, only Jessica, Peter, Pepper, Happy, and the Avengers. Jessica was the only one she felt like calling, but she knew that, depending on where she was, it would be impossible for her to help. And being the asshole she was, Jessica would probably tell her to get out of there the same way she got there.
Looking back over the list, she sighed and turned her phone off, stuffing it back in her pocket. Maybe Jessica wanted this to happen. She probably knew that Y/n wouldn’t want to call anyone but her, even if she couldn’t do anything. Maybe this was the push she needed to finally overcome her problems and face her fears. Maybe this was the first of many small steps.
Getting to her feet, Y/n sucked in a breath. “I can do this. I got here, I can get out of here,” she told herself, though she didn’t believe a word of it. Not when it came to the unknown. “It’s not that hard. Just gotta be specific. I’ll go to Jessica’s. That’s where I’ll go.”
Shaking out her fear and nerves, Y/n closed her eyes, giving her a second to calm down before she likely ended up in some other unknown place. As risky as it was, knowing that she could end up on the other side of the world or a hundred years in the past, she knew that if she didn’t try, she would never have control. And that’s what it was all about; control.
Her eyes opened and she willed her feet to carry her across the shore. The trees became a blur but the landscape didn’t change, only the ground beneath her. Pavement scratched the bottom of her shoes as she came to an abrupt stop.
She was no longer in the middle of the woods, but she sure as hell wasn’t in Jessica’s apartment.
Her eyes followed the pavement, looking at where it lead to. In front of her was the Avengers facility. She shook her head, facepalming. Of course. Of course, this was where she would end up.
But it was better than in a place where she could be considered a meal by the wildlife. All she had to fear now was the bold squirrels that often tried to steal people’s belongings.
Y/n trudged up the road, her wet shoes squeaking as she walked. Getting to the building, she stopped, looking up to the fourth floor where everyone likely was. Where the lounge was that she’d ran from a few nights before.
Where her world had changed.
“I’m just here to get dry and get a ride, that’s it,” she told herself. “No crying, no explanations, no emotions. Not right now. Not yet.”
She pressed the buzzer and was greeted by the voice of Friday. “Y/n, please come in. I’ll notify Tony that you’re here.”
Y/n cringed at the greeting. “Please don’t do that, Friday. I’d rather no one know I’m here.”
“Alright.” The front door unlocked, allowing her in.
Once inside, all her fears came crashing back over her, making it feel like she was in the middle of an ocean. She pushed those fears aside, they would only get in the way of her mission; and that was to get dry.
Going the back way to get to her room, she crept down the hall, careful to make sure that no one was coming, but stopped in her tracks when she heard a few voices from the training from.
“You know where she’s at?” Y/n heard Carol ask. “Then why not go get her?”
“Where is she, Tony?” Steve asked, his tone serious.
Y/n’s eyes widen at the question. She had forgotten that Tony would be able to track her using her phone.
“She’s in New York City and that’s where she’s gonna stay until she’s ready and willing to come back.”
“But what if she doesn’t?” Carol inquired. “Peter is all beat up over this. Imagine the pain he may go through if she doesn’t come back!”
Tony sighed. “I know, I know. You think I haven’t thought of that! I love that kid like he’s my own child, but he’s gonna have to suck it up because I understand why Y/n left. It’s hard to deal with family problems, I would know.”
Hearing the floors creek, Y/n hurried away from the door, just in time as it opened, Carol and Steve walking out, their features blank. Rounding the corner, she was just about to turn her attention back to going to her room when her body collided with another. She stumbled back, using the wall to keep her from falling on the floor.
It was Natasha.
“Where did you go?” she asked, grabbing her and pulling her into a hug. “And why are you wet?”
Y/n pulled away, not in the mood for questions. “Nowhere and it doesn’t matter. And keep your voice down, I’d like to get in and out without being noticed.”
The woman crossed her arms over her chest. She clearly didn’t like the answer she was given. “Don’t give me that crap, Y/n”,” she whispered. “You left and everyone has been worried sick about you. You can’t just pull things like that!”
Y/n huffed, moving passed the assassin, heading to her room to get a change of clothes. “I think I can. I’m an adult and you people don’t own me.”
“But we care about you!”
Making it to her room, Y/n turned back to Natasha. “That doesn’t give any of you the right to tell me what I can and can’t do. I’m my own person with my own problems just as you are and every other member of your team.”
She slipped into her room, shutting the door in her friend’s face. As much as it pained her to say such harsh things, she was tired of being treated like a child. She was 20 and was more than capable of taking care of herself. She had done it since she was 15, surviving off of much less than what she now had. It was nice to know that they cared about her, but it seemed that they had forgotten that she could make her own choices.
*~~~~~*
Y/n sat on the edge of her bed for a while, her wet clothes on the bathroom floor and a nice pair of dry ones took their place. Glancing at the clock on her nightstand, she sighed.
2:46
It was probably safe to leave as everyone was probably asleep. And she was grateful that Natasha hadn’t gone and told everyone that she was back. The one thing she wanted above all was time and space. That was the only way she would be able to fix herself
Leaving her room, all the lights were off beside a few in the hallway to make sure no one tripped over anything. Any sign of life was gone as she walked through the halls. Looking back through the feed of the security cameras would be the only way they would know she had even been in the building.
Y/n stopped by her office on her way out, going to grab a bag from under her desk. It was full of everything she would need for a trip, stored there for the times Tony decided everyone was going on vacation without any notice. She grabbed the bag, turning to the door before catching sight of a picture of Tony, Pepper, Peter and her from one of their trips together.
What Carol had said earlier was echoing through her head. Knowing that she had hurt him, caused him pain, tore a hole in her heart. That was the last thing she wanted.
In a vain attempt to mend that hole as best she could, Y/n set the bag down, taking a seat in her chair and pulled out a pen and paper. In rushed words, she tried her best to explain that she would be gone for a while. That she would come back when the time was right, but that she loved him. She loved everyone and didn’t mean to cause any pain.
Setting the pen down, she placed the note on her keyboard along with her phone. They didn’t need to know where she was until she was ready. Standing from the chair, she grabbed the bag and headed out.
Many may have thought that what she was doing was running. Running away from her problems like she always did, but it wasn’t like that. She intended to return. If she kept running, she would never be one with herself and never face her problems. And as much as everyone was probably willing to help her with that, it wasn’t something that they needed to do. It was something she needed to do on her own.
Exiting the building, Y/n turned back, silently wishing everyone well until she returned. She didn’t know how long she would be gone, but when she returned she would be the person she was always meant to be.
Turning away, she started into a sprint, gripping her bag like it was her lifeline, before disappearing into the night.
