When we say that the famine in Gaza is man made, that it is manufactured, that people in Gaza are being starved, it is because Israel had engineered this famine from the earliest stages of this genocide.

It started with Israel destroying Gaza’s livestock within the first few months of this genocide, it also made sure to decimate swaths of farmland (most of which currently also fall within the areas occupied by Israel, making them inaccessible), and had made fishing boats and fishermen constant targets of Israeli gunfire and abduction. Not to mention Israel’s systemic targeting of wells and water desalination plants across Gaza.

So, Israel created a process in which 2 million people are made dependent on outside support in order to survive, while it continues to deny entry of said support, and control what and how much of it goes in, which generates the artificial scarcity and results in the inflation of prices that we’re seeing today.

This is all while the UNRWA and other organisations make appeals to allow their supplies in, which are stockpiled in warehouses right outside of Gaza.

This is starvation as a deliberate political tactic; starvation as a weapon of war. This is genocide.
