"It's like I melted a popsicle into cleaning solution."
"I have a dinosaur on my wall. That's how you know I'm cool."
"This is probably a bad idea. WHEE!"
"Did I help this dude marry someone or something like that?"
"I don't know what that accomplished; we just have lots of dead people now."
"No, no. I mean immediately as soon as shit gets bad."
"I am drawing a perfect star, so this is your fault."
"All you do is mock me about my banana collection."
"That's true freedom, right? You can have sex anytime you want to."
"NOTHING CAN STAND IN MY WAY... except sumo wrestlers."
"I need a rabbit and one more elk, or four coyotes."
"Look how wiggly I am. That's pretty badass."
"The whole place has gone to shit in a handbasket."
"Just stay there and make dramatic noises."
"You're a fucker, sir."
"I'm going to take a picture of you. For science."
"WHY ARE YOU MY ALARM CLOCK?"
"There are no statistics here. There's nothing that makes sense at all, in fact."
"Oh, no. You were charming."
"Not gonna lie, authoritative British lady sounding robots are my aesthetic."
"You had me at 'reward.'"
"I'm going to go back to bed; that seems like a good plan."
"You're supposed to be three-dimensional. Come on, now."
"This is going well, aside from all the murder."
"Okay, I got this! Wait. Fuck fuck shit fuck."

Indefinite Hiatus
outofstealth
I’m sure this isn’t a surprise, but just going ahead and making it official.
My muse for Kendall never really took off, and I’ve largely been edging out of DARP in general these last few months. Whether, and how active, I’m going to be in the Tumblr RP scene is still up in the air, but it’s unlikely I’m coming back to this blog.
My personal blog is over at cindymeltzer for those who don’t already have it and want to keep chatting. Or ask for my Skype. :)

“I mean that’s what I always do.” He grins playfully at her. “Leliana doesn’t seem to have caught on yet.”
She raises an eyebrow, barely stifling a smile. “Leliana does the same thing. Have you read her reports?”

“Well, we have powerful men, but impressing them means trying a much different tack. I might need to call in a favor from someone.”
@unpreparedviscount - con’t.

“Oh I know, Hawke.” The Knight-Commander sighs, almost dramatically so. “A shame, really. Few women with such power exist around here.”

"Why am I not special enough to pick you up?"
"He's gonna get naked, isn't he? Dammit."
"This is how we become an effective citizen of the fucking cosmos."
"Yes, I am so proud of your abs."
"With enough toilet paper I can conquer the world."
"I keep losing bits of myself!"

"Is that her cleavage?"
"She's a beautiful woman with powerful political connections. And nice tits."
"This is not a good time, buddy. I'm saving the world."
"Don't worry! I know we can... something."
"It disappoints the lady with the nice rack, which we don't want to do."
"Fuck the tire, okay?"
"We're not in the business of making sense 'round here."
"At 10 AM, this dude better be in his fucking shop."
"Yes, I did sit on a stool for seven hours. Don't judge my life choices."
"You know... you know I just want to wear my hat in peace."
"Get the fuck out of my armor!"
"Good boy! Covered in the blood of your enemies."
"Stop with the flashing! That's super annoying!"
"I will go steal the jam before we leave."

@trashwarden put together this neat template, and I just had to fill it out for Kendall. Mainly applies to Act 3 (apart from characters who bowed out earlier). The gradient represents mixed feelings.
(Obligatory reminder that mun is not muse, and this reflects Kendall’s canon rather than any specific RP interactions.)

When Kendall emerges from the Chantry, she always takes a moment just to breathe. It was rebuilt in a hurry, and whether it’s the tension of those inside or the structure, she feels almost stifled after a while. Unfortunate, for the Maker’s house. Maybe they can get it fixed one of these days, once she runs out of more important things to do as the new Viscountess.
If that ever happens. She huffs out a breath, an amused smile turning up the corners of her lips. There are no illusions in her mind about being able to turn Kirkwall around quickly - it took time to get into this mess, and it will take time to get out of it. A steady climb upwards is all she hopes for.
In the corner of one eye there’s a flicker of movement, prompting her to turn. It’s hard not to smile seeing the young boy sitting casually on the Chantry board, but that would give the wrong impression, so she only nods to him in greeting.
“Are you waiting for someone?”
@unpreparedviscount
The Grey Warden delegation is in the new, rebuild Chantry, discussing some matter with the Reverend Mothers in private. Several people, bored nobles with little to do but talking to each other, are busily gossiping over the reason for the delegation’s arrival
The child is looking at the onlookers, and eating an apple. He is perched atop of the new Chantry board, and kicking his heels against it. He is too crunched up, elbows over knees, to see what he is wearing though it looks like it is blue and white.
The child -blue eyes, black hair, perhaps ten years of age- adjust the bow on his back and bites again the apple.
He looks down. And waits.

Today is Kendall’s birthday.
I can’t decide whether it would be too thematically ironic to bake some cinnamon rolls. :P

alisaofhighever:
The interruption may have been unexpected, but it was by no means unwelcome. Alisa was already smiling broadly at Anders’ description of some of his antics. At the stranger’s arrival and apology, she rose, still smiling, and shook her head.
“Not on your life,” she said, fetching another glass, filling it, and extending it to Kendall. “Any friend of Anders is a friend of mine.”
Behind her, Anders coughed slightly. “Friend may be a bit of an overstatement.”
“Hah! So much the better.” At Anders’ grunt of protest, she said dryly, “You did abandon me the first moment it was convenient, Anders. Turnabout’s fair play.” She crossed the room, extending a hand to Kendall. “I’m Alisa.”
Anders scoffed. “No fancy titles to go with you this time? I distinctly remember there being fancy titles when you met me.”
“I’m alone, and quite incognito,” she answered in protest. “It’d be counter-productive to…” But at the look on his face, she broke off with a sigh. “Oh, go on, then.”
Anders bounded to his feet and came to join the ladies by the door. “Kendall Hawke,” he announced dramatically, “allow me to present, Alisa, daughter of House Cousland, wife of King Alistair Theirin, Queen and Warden-Commander of Ferelden.”
“You forgot Hero of Ferelden,” she said dryly. Immediately, Anders prostrated himself at her feet.
“Forgive me, Highness!” he moaned. “How can I ever repay this most grave error?”
Laughing, she nudged him with one boot. “Get up, you ass.” She handed a wine glass to Kendall. “Such a dramatic fool, isn’t he? How I ever got anything done with him around, I’ve not the faintest idea.”
“The Queen and Hero of Ferelden?” Kendall accepted the wine glass with wide eyes, unsure of what else to do. “Messere, it’s an honor. I grew up in Lothering, and my brother and I were in the King’s Army. We - “
She cut herself off quickly, not wanting to sound like too much of a fool. Surely the accent said enough; after all, every other person she met seemed to comment on it. And this woman was - well. She was most decidedly not as formal as any queen Kendall had ever pictured.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she finished smoothly, glancing to the mage and back. “How do you know Anders?”

kirkwallcomedyshow:
“What?” Isaac gasped. “My little sister, in favor of lying to Mother?” He grinned. “I must be doing something right.”
Still, he knew how this would go. They’d sneak out, explore the town. Mother would just about lose her mind over their absence. They’d return, she’d hug Kendall, and murmur I’m so glad you like the place! And then she’d take Isaac somewhere private and scold him for distracting his little sister from the task of unpacking. He honestly didn’t mind. He could deflect her anger well enough. It’d be worth it.
He led the way out of the house, stopping twice for dramatic effect more than necessity. They could hear Mother and Father speaking in hushed tones just out the front door. Carver and Bethany were bickering about something elsewhere in the house. Leaving out the back door, their path was clear. When they were outside, he stopped, turned to Kendal and grinned.
“Alright, Adventurer,” he said grandly. “Chart our course.”
She followed at his heels, stopping obediently when Isaac did and scurrying along after him when he continued again. Like being a spy and listening for clues, Kendall thought with an appreciative grin. She knew she ought to be outgrowing imaginary games - Mother had told her as much - but if anyone would appreciate them, it was her older brother.
With that thought, she gave a self-indulgent grin. “Let’s play like we’re spies. See how much we can learn about the neighbors before they notice us. Then we’ll know what they’re like, and we can have some fun.”
For a moment she stood peering at the other houses. Most of them hardly stood out, but - yes! There was one with a stick horse left out front. She tugged on Isaac’s sleeve, pointing it out. “There. They must have kids. Let’s see if we can find out how old they are.”

idiedinthedark:
Compassion barely seemed to notice the shift of her grip on the dagger– or her evident surprise at seeing it. Him, perhaps it should think – and yet it had not stopped being what it was. It had merely found a form that fit the world, a form with a face…a good thing, too, since surprise, not fear, graced her face as she faced it. Familiar and yet foreign…she sees the face of a boy battered and broken, left behind…
It nodded slightly at the question.
“You remember the blood brilliant on the blade,” it says quietly, eyes glinting attentively from behind a heavy mop of blonde hair. “You want to wash it away…but it’s harder to forget the fighting.” A pause. “You don’t have to let it follow you. It happened but you can let it fall behind you.”
“Well. That’s easier said than done.” Kendall busied herself sheathing the daggers, suddenly hard-pressed to stifle a smile. The young man clearly prided himself on being cryptic - and she had to admit he was doing well - but there was something oddly endearing about the act. Everyone knew what had happened during the Right of Annulment, and what she had done. There were no secrets once you were Champion and Viscountess.
“I’m not upset,” she went on, gently. “We’ve all been through hard times, but you don’t have to worry about me. I have everything I need.”
He looked almost familiar somehow, she thought as she studied him. Mage? Templar? Someone from the city? The more she thought, the harder it was to place the resemblance. No bother, then. It would come to her eventually.

awolfoflyrium:
His eyebrows shoot up nearly to his hairline. “You would turn her over to these templars?” The breath snorts out of his nose. “She would be killed at best.”
The unease in his gut only increases. While he does not approve of Merrill’s actions by any stretch, he also knows precisely what could happen to her if left in the care of Kirkwall’s templars. If you would so easily turn Merrill over, how safe should I consider myself? His eyes move over Hawke for a moment before turning forward again. How hard have you tried when speaking with her, I wonder.
“Only if they had reason to think she was a threat,” Kendall answers without skipping a beat. “She’d go to the Circle otherwise, where mages belong. Don’t you see? If she did the right thing, they would know she doesn’t mean to hurt them. Otherwise, there’s nothing to go on. It would protect her as much as us.”
The people of this city need a lot of teaching, it seems. How can a man like Fenris not fully appreciate the danger? She quirks a brow. “What would you have me do instead?”
