The knocking on my damn door made me feel nothing but rage, getting out of the bed as nails itched at my stomach as I walked over to open it. Cracking the door open, a servant held out a letter and left to go deliver the other ones to the other alphas. I opened it right there, eyes scanning over the words.

Balling the paper, tossing it away. I checked the time, we had a bit to get ready. I summoned both Luna and Kae to the living room as I grabbed an energy drink from fridge. The two trickled in, Luna grumbling about how I woke her up from the funniest dream.

“You’ll be sitting ringside or going to the beach?”

I asked because I didn’t know if she could stomach what went on in the ring, a bunch of men and one woman fighting each other to showcase their strength to the council.

‘You think I’m going to miss you beating someone’s ass?’ Was her reply, nodding to her response. I told them to have breakfast, while I went and finished the drink, showering soon after. By the time I exited my room they were dressed as well, opting to wear joggers with a muscle shirt. We left out of the room.

The walk to the area where the fighting would take place, face buried in my phone. I was exchanging texts with Nevaeh, telling her I’ll take her out on a proper date and shit when I got back to the states, of course she gave me attitude for not telling her about me leaving. I figured she wouldn’t care too much, welp that was a lie. I told her I’ll call her once I finished.

We made it to the arena, people were walking around with drinks in their hands. There was an opt out of this first round. A few seemed to have done that, not me. I had a few lessons I needed to teach these idiots. Leaving Luna to find her way to the seating area, Bayani was standing at the board that had everyone’s name and who their fighting again.

He was going up against the alpha from Hawaii and his beta, whereas I and Kae were going up against the one from Vegas. He was the same height as me, though I outweighed him by five pounds. Kae would be going up against his beta, although he was a wolf. Kae could handle his own against shifters when it came down to a fist fight.

‘Alright ladies and gentlemen, we’re about to start the first round of fights. Those who are slotted to start will enter according to their last names.’

The announcer allowed the people to hear what he said and digest it before speaking again. As the crowd gathered around, I gave an unimpressed look at the announcer. I knew the rules. Hell /we/ all knew the rules.

‘If for whatever reason you get pinned, tap out or lose consciousness. The match goes to the winner, the winner will then move on to the next challenge. Both you and your second in command have to win in order to move on.’

With that he commenced the first round, watching as each person stepped into to the ring. The raw power some of these people possessed was amazing, you would think I was watching one of my anime’s. It took a total of three hours to get through this first match ups. There was a total of ten in this match up, only four made it past. Impressive really.

‘You promise to hold your wolf at bay?’

“Yeah.”

The second round match ups lasted a little longer than the first, this time there were fifteen in this match up round. Only seven made it past. I looked up towards where the council was, my father was in the middle of them in his chair. He was unimpressed with this year’s alphas, only a few made him twitch or move a muscle.

“I think I’m going to enjoy this.

I told Kaelan, it was now our turn. This round only held five match ups, the first three were duds, neither of the them walked away with victories. The last one was a sight to watch, Bayani moved around the ring with such elegant grace. He and his Beta were one, ending their round with a victory. Luna and his wife cheered extra loud.

‘Now for our final match up of the evening, Alpha Lokheart and his Beta versus Alpha Songtree and his Beta, will you please step in the ring.’

All four of us stepped in the ring, the layout was already engrained in my memory. I shared it with Kae, who smiled. He removed his shirt and tossed it, I did the same. The other two remained clothed, laughing at our spectacle like we were a joke to him. When the bell rang, I charged forward, blinding speed took Songtree by surprise. My fists were moving at the same pace, he somehow blocked them but still got hit in the face.

Behind me, Kae and his beta were going toe to toe until Kae used the fence to flip over him and smash his closed fist into the back of his head. I side stepped a kick, but he came at me the other way. Slamming his fist into my ribs, which sparked the rage inside, biting it back. I pulled my head back and sent it forward, a deafening crunch of his nose.

‘FUCK!’

He howled, his voice was distracted and I used that to my advantage, blow after blow I sent against his body. Each swing stronger than the last, each step stronger than the last. I had him pinned against the fence, hearing Kae grunt and fall to his knees. I lost focus, giving Songtree the opportunity he needed to slam me against the mat—bringing up my arms to block the blows.

‘You’re nothing! You’re not even worthy enough to be called an alpha or recognizable by anyone.’

He said that, which flicked that switch inside my head. I couldn’t shift but the rules didn’t say I couldn’t use the wolf’s power. So I did, his eyes wide as I grabbed his face between my palms, squeezing until Kae yanked him off and tossed him to the side. He rolled onto his back, trying to stand up but it was pointless. I used the sole of my foot to stomp his head down into the mat, then I began stomping his head in over and over again until his Beta attempted to tackle me.

Not going down this time, my arms locked around his front, lifting him up and falling back so that he landed face first into the mat. I rolled, getting on all fours. Watching as he struggled to breathe, standing up now. As the ref came over to assess the situation.

‘AND OUR FINAL WINNER IS KILLIAN AND KAELAN.’

A roar of cheering echoed through the sea of people who came to watch, when I eyed my father. He nodded with a smile, speaking with his council. Growing weak, I stumbled into Bayani who held me up while also congratulating me for a job well done. I didn’t know we had been fighting for two hours. That’s probably why that energy kicked in.

Regardless, we won and we’re now moved up to the next contest. I didn’t know what it was, nor did I allow my thoughts to linger on the what if’s. For the rest of the day, I lay back and watch Kae and Luna enjoy the perks of this resort.

I left them behind to get checked into the hotel, or whatever this big ass place was. It resembled something out of a mafia movie, it also reeked of magic. When I stepped through the doors, two people appeared and bowed their heads in respect.

‘Your father has asked for you to meet him in the courtyard.’ The one on the left said, leading me towards said courtyard. It was then that I took in every single design that was put forth into this place. I stopped in front of a painting, my chest tightened with anger at the image. It was of me and my parents, when I was little.

‘The king is waiting.’ She said again, earning a glower from me. I know he was waiting, the king waited for no one. He just stepped into the fucking role and he was commanding everyone around him, they fell into step like the good little damned lap dogs. I turned and followed behind her, the other was behind me as quiet as a church mouse.

Doors opened, the smell of the ocean mixed with power and food. Stepping outside, the sun was slowly setting. I heard him before I laid my eyes on him, hands tucked in my pockets so I could better control myself. Yeah that was the biggest secret I was holding, my dad was the king. He somehow beat the last one and took his spot, after that debacle, things began changing. Unlike everyone else who wouldn’t dare ignore my father, I was different.

‘There he is! My son.’

My father stood there, he hasn’t aged in the slightest. He stood a few inches taller than my 6’2 height, his hair was graying on the sides as well as the beard. How can I stand here and look this man in the face, fingernails digging into my palm as I force a smile.

“What is it you want?! Because if you’re here to try and mend whatever fucking bridge, it’s going to be a hell no from me.”

I said through gritted teeth, his eyes locked on the servants that were at his beck and call. They left us alone, not a good thing to do with both of our tempers being how they were. I stood my ground as he approached, his hand on my shoulder, squeezing it as he exudes the power of the king. Even my wolf balked at the feeling of control, snapping and growling in my head. I never wavered like he wanted.

‘I’m not here to fight with you, as you know. This is the first summit you decided to attend. A joyous celebration is to be had, the heir to my throne. You should be happy.’

Donnie boasted, his arms outstretched as if to say let loose and enjoy the island and the games. I scoffed, eyeing the surroundings. I could get away with stabbing him and no one would be the wiser to what I did. He laughed, then his fist connected with my jaw, sending me back. My eyes went pitch black as he grabbed my hair, leaning in.

“I see nothing has changed with you, dad. But things changed for me.”

My fist connected with his jaw, then his nose as I brought my leg up to kick him only to be tackled down by his guards. I growled, feral and ferocious at them. My teeth snapped at one of their fingers feeling the bone and appendage rip off. I lost control and I could tell he felt the power in me shift. I tossed the guard that was holding me back. His smile faltered but slid right back into place, telling his men to let me go not before I broke one of their necks.

“I’ll see you at the end of the week, pops. I’ll fucking show you how much power your little experiment gained. Get the fuck off me, bitch.”

Shrugging the last guy off as I walked off, heading for the rooms we’d be staying in for our trip.

[𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.]

“If anything happens, stay behind me. I’ve heard rumors, tales about fighting breaking out. Kae keep your head on a swivel.”

I fixed my suit, tonight was the dinner part of the night where we all sit down and break bread. A stupid tradition, one that’s still being practiced like we don’t all hate each other. The number of deaths at these summits usually range between two and five.

Kae secured his pistol in the holster, Luna was dressed in some dress she said she got off some girly ass website. She looks good though, finally it was time for us to leave. The walk to the banquet hall was one filled with conversation, mainly between me and Kae about the meeting with my father. I chose to leave out the fact that I scared him.

Entering the hall, music played through speakers all throughout the hall. You had men and their mates mingling and drinking, I walked to the bar to order myself a drink. Hearing the voice, my lips turned up into a smile as I spun to see one of my close friends.

‘If it isn’t Killian A Kill.’

“If it isn’t the man that can’t stand anyone, Bayani.”

We embraced, while his wife came over to give me a hug too. I kissed her cheek, then her stomach because she was having their first pup. I was happy for them, I turned and introduced my second and Luna. Of course the women walked off leaving us behind, my drink was placed in front of me. I took the cup, tipping the bartender.

‘I hear you tossed someone into the ocean, you know he’s coming for you doing the first game right?’ Bay said.

‘He did issue the challenge, one he can’t back out if he dies or is getting his ass beat.’ Kae replied.

I knew it would come to that, accepting all challenges. I wasn’t using my last name or status to gain any further advantages over the rest of them. Speaking of, I watched Luna smile and dance with Bay’s wife. She was having fun, thankfully she could get away from her problem back home. Sipping my drink, when my name was shouted from across the hall. It was Sterling and a few other alphas, Kae reached into his jacket for the gun, placing my hand on his to stop him.

‘You son of a bitch.’

Sterling’s beta charged me, I didn’t move until the final moment, gripping the back of his neck and slamming his face into the bar before tossing him back. He flew right across the room landing on the ground, I loosened my tie just a bit. Sterling charged forward, the tie came undone just as he got closer, timing it perfectly. So the tie was wrapped around his wrist, bending it back until Sterling kneeled before me.

Bringing my knee up to smash into his jaw, loosening the tie and then wrapping it around his neck, using all my weight to choke him until he fell down on his back. Then I pressed the heel of my dress shoe against his neck, adding a little bit of weight to his throat. The others tried to jump in but Kae stopped them, brandishing the gun. He shook his head while clicking his tongue, they stopped with glares on their faces.

I leaned down so that he heard me loud and fucking clear this time, hands parked in the pockets of my slacks as I smiled, his glare did nothing to me like he thought it would.

“I keep telling you and your pussy ass beta, if you want to challenge me do that in the ring. Don’t let the pretty boy good looks fool you, though it seems to me that you didn’t take my warning on the boat seriously. I’ll make sure to remind you of why and how I got this alpha title.”

‘Killian?’ Her soft voice made me look up, she shook her head like she knew what I was going to do. I removed my foot from his throat, letting him get up so he could breathe and get picked up by his little buddies. Baby was cackling loudly from the bar, it was thanks to him and his pack that I knew how to fight like I did. Tilting my head his way.

Dinner was then served and we all ate, before leaving the hall. Tomorrow would be the start of the games. I felt all kinds of eyes on me, knowing they were going to try and kill me.

Checking my watch as I brought the straw that was in my smoothie up to my mouth to take a sip. It was almost time to leave and here I was waiting for Luna and Kae. They were lucky we had a private jet to the Bahamas and from there was the boat ride to the island that was housing this year’s summit.

“I’m losing patience by the minute.”

I shouted out, making sure they heard me loud and clear. If I couldn’t sleep in, neither could they and yet here I was being the first fucker awake and ready. My bag was at my feet, the stress of this summit was eating at me and it didn’t feel good. The wolf even paced in his mental cage, alphas way older than me were going to be in attendance. The council was as well, and who was on the council?

My damn father.

I haven’t spoken to or seen in two years, not after I fought him for the spot of alpha over this pack. I hated the air that man breathed, flashbacks of those nights came forth.

‘Are you okay?’ Luna’s voice broke through the fog of memories, giving her a nod as Kae soon walked his ass out of the house. I already left Khalid and Montego in charge while I was gone. After putting all the luggage in the trunk. We climbed into the truck, with Kae driving and me in the backseat. Only because she yelled shotgun, leaving the pack house and hitting the road to the airport. The car soon filled up with music, she and Kae were singing like I wasn’t in the damn truck.

It took an hour to reach the private airport, the jet was already there and waiting for our arrival. The pilot removed his hat as we came to a stop, getting out. He greeted me with a bow of his head.

‘Alpha Lokheart, it’s so great to meet you. I will be your pilot to and from the summit, these are your stewardesses.’

Hitting them with a smirk, Luna scoffed and moved past me to get into the jet. I couldn’t help but laugh, as Kae joined her. I told the pilot thanks, before loading up into the jet. About thirty minutes later we were in the air, of course I had to have a joint because my thoughts were soon unhinged and dark. I was trying my hardest not to think of ways to murder my father when I saw him.

‘You’re putting a lot of energy out, your highness. Relax, this is supposed to be fun.’ Luna said.

‘He won’t relax, his father is on the council and requested to meet with him before the games.’ Kae said.

Ignoring them, as smoke filled my lungs to capacity, blowing it into the air. I let them converse amongst themselves as I felt my eyes close. The music from the headphones playing, drowning out everything else. A few bumps, a few squeals for Luna who fell into my lap.

‘I’m sorry!’ I shook my head, helping her back up. My eyes landed on her backside, when Kae smacked me upside my head. I laughed, turning back to the music, the break down of this week was to see where we stood in the pecking order. Who deserves the alpha title, even the wolf king himself was supposedly accepting the top five alphas to battle against.

I wanted to be one of the five—nah, I’ll be apart of the five. I already knew it, then there was the meetings and dinners. Rubbing elbows isn’t my strong suit, especially with motherfuckers who looked down on me because of my age. I felt the anger swell in my chest, breathing through my nose. I was young as hell, however they’ll soon see why those rumors were true.

‘We’re now starting our descent into the Bahamas.’

The pilot announced, jolting me awake from the fitful sleep I was getting. Luna and Kae were already awake, she was eyeing the beautiful island below us. I rubbed my face, sitting forward, both hands running over my fresh hair cut. Wheels touching down, there were other jets on this airstrip, the money these old ass council members dish out is crazy. After we stopped, we were finally off the plane. Sliding the glasses over my eyes, I walked ahead of the other two.

‘Alpha Lokheart, we are ready for you and your party. Please follow me.’

A driver said, leading us to the car, opening the doors for us so we could slide in. Luna looked at me then at Kae, he shrugged his shoulders. Knowing exactly how I get.

‘There will be two other alphas on the boat, Alpha Hunter and Alpha Sterling are the other occupants.’

Those two idiots, their packs were small but powerful because Hunter’s had mages, Sterling had a mix of mutts in his pack. Something he prided himself on, I looked at Luna since this was her first time being around them.

“Ignore their advances, they will try to use you to get to me. Be careful, they won’t do anything to harm you at the summit. You’re unmated so you’re free game to them.”

She looked shocked but gave me a thumbs up, finally reaching the boat. The two of them stood out like sore thumbs, their second in commands stood off to the side, in their own world. Our car stopped, causing their heads to swivel in my direction as I stepped out. Our bags being taken by the boat hands, Hunter and Sterling smirked as I closed the space between us.

‘If it isn’t the elusive alpha Lokheart, I see you finally came out of that hole in the ground and you brought your beta.’ Hunter spoke, his lip turned up at the sight of Kae.

“Either fix your fucking eyes or put them somewhere else.”

My warning was loud, they stood to the side allowing us to board the boat. Twenty odd minutes later we were headed for the island, as the others spoke around me. I kept my gaze focused on the water, watching it ripple. When my name was spoken, I looked at Sterling and his beta. They reeked of desperation and idiocy.

“Shut the fuck up talking to me.”

I stood up, what he said was beyond disrespectful. I was on him, my hand wrapped around his fucking throat. His Beta stood up, ready to attack but Kae had his gun pointed at the back of his head. The barrel pressed hard into his skull, making him stumble forward.

“Speak on Luna like that again, I will personally rip your intestines out and use them as floss after I killed every single member of your pack. You feel me, nod if you do.”

He nodded, his hand clawing at mine. The captain shook his head, telling us to calm down. Instead of listening to his statement, I tossed the idiot overboard, Luna and Kae cackling like hyenas. I looked at Hunter and his second, they looked away.

“Keep fucking driving, have someone else pick him up.”

Sitting back down, Luna thanked me for that. I just nodded. We reached the docks, getting off before everyone else could.

“Meet at the restaurant.”

With that, I walked off to calm down a bit before I went to see my dad.

Colter looked from me to his beta, a conversation flowing between them through their eyes. I stood by, waiting and watching them. It was like they were trying to decide what to do, even if the endgame would be with their deaths at my hand.

“How about this, you already issued the challenge the moment you spoke down on me. You either fight here or die.”

My shoulders lifted in a noncommittal manner, I was growing tired and bored of these antics. The wolf in me wanted out, so much so that each ram against the cage its power bursts forth. Every other wolf whimpered, showing me their necks in submission. Colter growled, his eyes the color of his wolf.

‘Fine.’

He shifted down, a slightly smaller wolf form than I expected him to be. No worries, shifting down to my wolf, who growled the moment he was allowed out. Claws digging into the earth as he stretches, shaking his whole body. He was bigger, stronger and faster than the alpha in front of him.

A scoff, as he sized up his opponent. Colter did the same, circling each other soon turned to a full blown fight. He tried to go after for our throat, but it was easily dodged, a cat and mouse game. This display of aggression from Colter was to be expected. He was older, less mobile, less agile. When I saw the opening, the wolf took over and went for the blow to his side—teeth and claws dug into his ribs.

He howled out in agony, he was able to shake me off. My muzzle was coated in his blood and fur, oh the sweet taste of his blood fueled me to finish him off. I ran full speed, my head crashing into his already tore up side. His claws scratched at my face, teeth coming into my shoulder but I brushed it off. I tore into his throat, his gurgled howl fell short.

Biting down harder, as he struggled to free himself. Instead of submitting like he should’ve, he chose death— with a quick head tilt I snapped his neck. His body slumped to the ground, letting him drop. I stood on him, a sign of my dominance. I shifted back, blood coating my tattooed chest.

“You see your alpha?! How weak he is, how he couldn’t protect his pack from the hunters that encroached on his land?! How so many of you had to die!? Join my pack and you’ll be protected, you’ll be allowed to do what you please, you’ll have stability, peace and prosperity.”

I yelled out, wolves one by one trotted towards me, licking the back of my hand as if to say they were with my pack. His beta and a few others remained there, giving them a look. They would pose a problem in the future, however when that time comes. I will handle it. Taking off into the forest.

“To prove your loyalty to my pack, chase them off this territory. If you catch them, maim or kill. Whichever you choose is fine with me.”

And like that, they were chasing those who once were family to them. My own pack followed suit, I made my way to the truck where I snagged a towel. I looked at Kae who shook his head with a smile, this wasn’t the run of the mill kind of thing. Thinking about how to expand my businesses into the town that this territory has.

“Send up the drone. I want to watch this unfold.”

‘Seek help.’ Kae said with a laugh, he went and retrieved his tablet. It flashed on, as he summoned the drones. I watched as the trunk opened, five drones flew out of it and towards the chase. Each angle showed the wolves chasing the four idiots, one tripped over the log and was immediately pounced on. He did put up one hell of a fight before being taken down.

A lovely scene if I do say so, it took two hours they came back. The only person/wolf left was the beta, he was the only one who made it out. Everyone else was dead, not truly how I wanted it to be but oh well. The wolves shifted, a mix of people. They looked relieved to see me smiling. A woman stepped forward, hands folded in front of her.

‘We are pledging our allegiance and loyalty to your pack, Killian. If you’ll have us.’

Everyone looked at me, I nodded my head. Sending out the link, a few moaned in pain as the link between them and the alpha was a pain filled process, my wolf howled and their wolves returned it. Now this was handled, it was time for us to head back. Normally we’d share a meal but I really wasn’t trying to do all that tonight.

I had to get ready for the summit, which took place two days from today. So I told them to head home, meet me at the pack house. Luckily this was my territory now, they could either stay where they lived at now or move to the pack houses. Either way worked for me, they were now members of my pack.

‘About the hunters? What do you want to do with them? There’s three sectors of hunters near here. I say we kill them all when we get back.’

Nodding my head in agreement, they will have to be properly dealt with when I get back. For now, I’ll have one of my scouts inflight their little group. So I could keep tabs on their comings and goings.

“Send in, Axel. Make sure to tell him to get their accounts and everything. I want addresses, bank accounts and the like by the time we get back. I need this to go smoothly.”

‘Of course.’

Kae called the drones back, as we piled into the truck. I needed a drink or six. After killing the man, I felt the need to kill his beta. I knew he’d show his face when he thought I’d let my guard down. Until then, I focused on the main issue at hand. This damn summit, I’ve invited Luna to come with because she practically begged me to. Let’s hope this year isn’t chalked with bullshit.

Closing my eyes, allowing sleep to come to me for the duration of the ride. My wolf was still ever present but less aggressive than before. Maybe killing the man healed something in us. Who knows. All I know is, my pack and territory just got immensely bigger. We went from twenty-five members to forty.

Could I lead such a big pack?

Time will tell.

Something inside of me told me a war was brewing, and I had a choice in which side I would be on.

Pushing that feeling away, I focused on the now.

‘You’re getting better, don’t stop. Continue until he’s on his knees.’ My father’s voice broke through my concentration. I knew I was getting better, my movements more fluid, focus was more on point. ‘Go for the blow!’ Again my father shouted, gritting my teeth in frustration!

With a quick side step, spinning with my leg out, putting all my strength into the kick. My heel smashed into the man’s jaw, spinning him in the process. He stumbled before falling back, this was a fake win. But a win nonetheless. I removed the boxing helmet, a ringing sounds of in my head.

‘Get up!’

‘Now!’

Shooting upwards, my chest heaved up and down, trying to catch my breath. These dreams are becoming more and more frequent, memories of my past that I thought were locked away somewhere deep inside my subconscious mind.

‘Killian, it’s time to move.’

Kaelan said from the other side of my bedroom door, checking the time on my cellphone. The white colored digits read 7:36 AM. I was supposed to be up at 6:00, kicking off the cover. I padded to the bathroom to get ready, half an hour later I was walking down the steps and towards the living room.

“Is everyone packed and ready?”

I felt like I already knew the answer to the question I asked, though with the look he was giving me. It was me who wasn’t ready, shaking my head, walking out for the front door. A gust of wind smacked me in my face as I made my down the steps, a line of cars sat in front of me.

This hunt was bigger than our last, fifteen members were selected to participate. Ten men and five women, the unmarked ones. I could feel and hear their excitement to get ready, out of the ten men five of them were enforcers. We had other business to attend to when we cross the border into Canadian territory.

“Sorry for keeping you guys waiting, let’s get a move on.”

I said with enthusiasm, as I opened the door to the truck I’d be riding in. Everyone filed into their respective vehicles, engines being started and we were off. The rest of the pack waved us goodbye, this trip shouldn’t take no more than two days to complete. That’s if the 𝙰𝚣𝚞𝚛𝚎 𝙿𝚊𝚌𝚔 gave in easily, if they didn’t then we’d have to take over by force.

Something I’m used to doing, I’ve done it maybe two times since I took over my father’s pack. Both of the alphas thought that the idea of merging packs was ridiculous—especially if they lose the title of alpha. So I challenged them, they lost and I won. It was simple, now they were somewhere roaming the states.

Reaching forward, I switched on the radio. Phone hooked up to the Bluetooth, most would question my methods as an alpha, why was I so laid back? Why didn’t I fight like all the others, though I did fight when I had to. When the time calls for it, my pack was my heart, my family. I wasn’t trying to end up like my father, abusive—ruling the pack with fear instead of understanding.

The music played through the speakers, base dropping as I bobbed my head to the rock song playing.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬.

Several odd hours later, we were pulling up to a vacant campground. The smell of water, prey and the alpha that wasn’t willing to merge. This is where that iron fist was going to come in, stepping out of the truck.

‘The pack is ten minutes from here, should I send the enforcers?’

“Yeah.”

Using this method to flush the pack out and towards me. It wouldn’t be fair to me if I didn’t give them a proper chance to fight for their land and pack, this could all go away if the current alpha bares his neck and submit. The likelihood of that happening was zero to none, hell I have a better chance at getting struck by lightning.

Watching as the three enforcers ( Zayn, Kyle and Frost ) shift down into their wolf form, an array of different colored fur. They trotted into the forest, as the rest of us watched. Their yapping and growling could be heard from where I stood, pulling a rolled joint from my chest pocket. I lit it and waited.

‘Is this the way you want to go about it? We could’ve gave him more than a week before we took over.’ My beta voiced his opinion on the matter.

I could’ve waited, but I knew it wouldn’t do any good. I took a few hits from the joint with his eyes boring into the side of my face, blowing the smoke from my nose, not meeting his gaze instead my mind drifted to this strain of weed I was smoking. This particular one was the perfect blend of calm and peace, one more hit and then I answered his question.

“I gave them long enough, it’s above me now. Besides, his pack was on the brink of collapse. What better way to move that along.”

Before he could utter a single word, growls and howling broke the silence. The remaining members of the hunting party got ready, all itching the shift. I gave them the go ahead, now I was surrounded by wolves. Their teeth barred the moment the other pack breaks through the tree line. When they saw that they were surrounded, they stopped running.

“Don’t fret, I’m not here to hurt you. Just to take what’s mine.”

Smiling, a glint of pleasure in my eyes at the thought of taking down their alpha. Who finally shows himself, the dusty gray wolf walked forward, shifting back into his human form. The scowl on his face displayed the emotions he was experiencing. His wolves stayed behind, knowing they were outnumbered 6:1.

The older man counted with his eyes until they landed on me, unbothered by what he was doing. I finished off the joint and flicked it off to the side, hands stuffed into my pockets.

“We meet again, Colter. I’m sure you know why I’m here, let’s not make this any more difficult for us. It’s quite simple, hand over the land and let me take over. You’re growing old, man.”

‘And you think you can handle all of this land and the problems it comes with? You’re nothing but a damn pup.’

Colter hissed out, his little temper tantrum pissed me off, especially being called a pup. My smirk soon turned sinister, as I pushed off the truck to meet him face to face. He didn’t even see it coming, my fist smashing against his nose. Oh how I loved hearing the bones crunch underneath my knuckles, watching him stumble back. His beta growled, ready to lunge at me.

‘I wouldn’t do that.’

Kae said, but I was smiling and welcomed the challenge he wanted to put out there. Meanwhile his alpha was nursing his broken nose, this was how it was going to be? So be it, I will kill the both of them. The others of this pack submitted when they felt my energy change, they’ve heard of the rumors surrounding me.

Now they were about to witness it first hand, some wanted to run but the enforcers stopped them in their tracks. The promise of death in their eyes, as two of them snapped at the air in front of the other wolves.

“Let him, this is the route he chose now both must face the consequences.”
