This was a big project that took me out from drawing much for life series and hermitcraft. One of my finals for the university that I’ll hope you all find useful as well.

Even though I have a page dedicated to it, I still want to express my gratitude to everyone who helped me putting this guide together. All of them provided an excellent help or guidance, without them this project wouldn’t be possible.

"Stop being funnier than me on my own post" is one of my favorite healthy tumblrisms, along with things like "hang on lemme look that up...yeah this is funny" and explicit tone indicators (positive). Like yeah let's build a world where we playfully format healthy interactions. You made a post and you wanted to be the star but damn, you've really gotta hand it to this other person for their really funny addition, so here's the internet equivalent of giving someone a friendly punch on the shoulder while making sure they know they got a good grade in social interaction

There was a subreddit that popped up on r/all for me recently called r/HarryPotteronHBO, a post about some characters that had just received their casting announcements for the new HBO Harry Potter show. 

I was intrigued to see what the discourse on that sub would be regarding J.K. Rowling’s politics, and was confused when there wasn’t a single word about it…

…until I saw the subreddit rules.

One of their rules states that discussing her politics is not allowed, with the following explanation:

“To maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment, this subreddit does not allow discussions about J.K. Rowling’s political beliefs, public statements, or involvement in real-world political or social issues.

This community is for fans who want to discuss the upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO and the wider universe including the books and films. Conversations about the author’s personal views often lead to division, heated arguments, and discomfort for members who simply want to enjoy the world of Harry Potter.

We recognize that J.K. Rowling’s political commentary has affected how many people engage with the franchise, and understand that her activism has negatively impacted transgender individuals. However, this subreddit exists to focus on the fictional world and to give fans of all backgrounds a space to enjoy that world without being drawn into broader political debates.”

Obviously, this is a load of horseshit. 

If you’re literally saying, “we recognize that we’re promoting the work of someone who is actively harming a marginalized community buuuuut…”, feel free to stop right there and begin reflecting on why you value your entertainment more than the lives of other people.

You know she’s harming trans people.  You know she’s using her wealth to do it.  You know promoting her new show will add to her wealth.

You know your promotion of the show is harming trans people.

The rule begins with, “To maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment…”

There is nothing inclusive about promoting content that harms marginalized communities, especially when you recognize that the content is doing harm.  You don’t have the ability to say “I had no idea!”, you’re literally acknowledging that she’s doing harm. 

Just say what you really mean.  Just say that you don’t care about trans people.

I’m more mad that you’re pretending to be inclusive.

Listen, I loved Harry Potter growing up, I did!  I was the same age as Harry as the books came out and it was touching and fun to read.

…but sometimes we need to decouple ourselves from things we used to enjoy when they cause harm. 

In the case of Harry Potter, it’s not like there aren’t other fantasy book series out there, there’s plenty to choose from!  If you’re still consuming Harry Potter content in 2025, just admit that you value your nostalgia more than other peoples’ lives. 

At least you won’t be a liar.

Relationship Anarchy sorta explained

You asked, so I shall do my best to explain. Let's keep in mind that I quite literally learned about the existence of relationship anarchy a day ago so take all of this with a massive grain of salt lol but here we go:

Western society has lots of rules of how each relationship is supposed to look/operate.

Friends aren't supposed to raise kids together, merge finances, etc. That's only for married couples.

People who are romantically intertwined are supposed to kiss, have sex, etc. and eventually end up married.

The ideal romantic partner is someone who can fulfill most if not all of your emotional, physical, and sexual needs, and anything less is a sign of incompatibility.

There's also the relationship hierarchy that society upholds—or the "relationship escalator."

At the bottom is friends, then romantic partners, then spouse.

The more intimate you become with a friend, the more likely people are to assume you want to be romantic with them—i.e they assume you're moving up the escalator.

The more intimate you become with a romantic partner, the more likely you are to get questions about when you're going to "take the next step" and get married.

Lots of rules, lots of expectations. And relationship anarchy (RA) basically says "no 💙"

RA basically refers to a deliberate rejection of these social norms. No rules and no inherent hierarchy.

Instead, partners decide amongst themselves what they want their relationships to look like.

You can be friends who rely on each other as primary sources of emotional and sexual fulfillment. Life partners, but you don't have sex or romance at all.

You can be sexually, romantically, emotionally fulfilled by one person but still just be two people loving and experiencing each other with no need for labels or the expectation of any "escalator" progression towards marriage or anything else.

Essentially, you build relationships buffet style, and each relationship is as significant in your life as you want it to be and they all serve whatever role you want them to serve. These relationships can be monogamous or polyamorous or anything in between.

Totally up to you.

Little bit funny how people's dislike of Harry Potter has now lapsed into like complete and total dismissal. The other day I was at a flower show and the theme for the displays at this particular flower show were book themed. And of course an admiring crowd went round and did the circuit of displays, ooh-ing and aah-ing at various renditions of The Railway Children and Little Red Riding Hood and taking photos. All extremely cool. And then they got to the Harry Potter section and there was just a complete blank look on a lot of people's faces. They didn't even comment like with the other displays, they simply walked by giving each other what-the-fuck-is-this shrugs. My sister is getting offered the opportunity to go to Harry Potter World by her college for art purposes this year and she said people were so distinctly unpsyched by even the offer of a very cheap coach trip and abysmally low priced tickets that they were already counting themselves out of the trip months in advance. There are stores with discount Gryffindor lunchboxes and scarves piling up desperately by the masses. Little stickers on them denoting price drops. Some stickers on top of others. Nobody gives a fuck about Harry Potter. It's all terribly exciting. I hope the HBO show is the nail in the coffin and we can finally put this shambolic corpse to a stake through the chest rest

When you write satire/criticisms, people will take one look at it and think you're endorsing or in support of it (look how people reacted to Jennette McCurdy's new book without it even being released, or how people thought that Bret Easton Ellis committed the crimes Bateman did). They dumb it down to: if you write about X, in any scenario, then you MUST be a monster who agrees with it.

Cherry-picking books that are "safe" or "vanilla" that don't "align with any EVIL, BAD beliefs" (when the author wrote the antagonist being an antagonist without pausing the narrative every 5 words to spoon feed the audience that these beliefs were bad) is... not a good thing to do. Why do we have to indulge in censorship when the government already does that---especially when it's encouraging conversations about why our society is flawed??

One of my brothers has this thing where he likes to be included on sibling movie night but he will not sit down or actually join us, he’ll just wander around the house and periodically show up to lurk in the doorway or lean on someone’s seat

And *I* have this thing where I always always know when he’s there, because every time he’s not wandering around like the ghost of jacob marley and isn’t immediately visible it’s because he’s stopped moving to watch the film from directly behind me, which makes the back of my neck tingle like a dog sensing an earthquake

Which has on more than one occasion resulted in me interrupting the movie to tell him to just sit the fuck down and stop lurking in the shadows, Jesus Christ, it’s like I’m being haunted by the memory of ancient sins

Which has in turn been shortened to just “ancient sins”, every time I feel him doing it again

So to summarize, sometimes when my siblings and I get together for a movie night, we’ll all be sitting in the dark in complete silence until my ass deadpan announces “ancient sins” and a 90 pound 5’11” Slenderman looking motherfucker emerges from the shadows behind me like a jumpscare incarnate in Batman pajamas pants and informs me that we are out of orange soda

A year or so ago I went to wood carving club with a bruised eye from my dog slamming his nose into my eyesocket and like every old lady there pulled me aside at some point to ask if my partner hit me here are some of the solutions they had in case he did.

-Replacing his vitimens with poision

- getting her brother to invite him out onto his boat and then killing him and dumping him in the ocean and saying he got drunk and fell off.

- get tboned with him in the passenger seat and then once he was in the hospital theres all kinds of easy ways to kill him like not washing my hands after a poop and then touching his wound casually.

-replacing his drink of choice with moonshine!?

- take him on a hike thats locally notorious for a rapid otter attacking hikers and once he had rabies I could just kill him any ol way and say self defense.

-One lady just cheerfully informed me she had a gun and only a few years left anyway

In time travel movies, when the time traveler asks 'What year is this?!?' they're always treated like they're being weird for asking.

When in reality, if you go 'What year is this?!?' people will just say '2024. Crazy huh.' and you go 'Wtf where has my youth gone.'

And if you ask 'And what month??' people won't judge you, they'll just go like 'SEPTEMBER!!! Can you believe it?!?!' and you go 'WHAT?!? Last time I checked we were in May?!?'

you need to understand that i have two sets of headcanons. there's the set of realistic headcanons based on my genuine reading of the show, and then there's me playing pretend with my dolls.
