The Holiday family is full of FREAKS.

These three moments right here do such a flawless job at illustrating what I firmly believe is Carol Holiday's most TERRIFYING quality: it's not the cruelty or cold fury she's capable of unleashing, IT'S HOW ADEPTLY SHE CAN CONTROL IT.

Some fictional abusers I've seen over the years would completely lose their temper if you bruised their fragile ego or went against their wishes (i.e. abusers like Shadow Weaver or Clay Puppington). But Carol is not in that category as she's able to adeptly mask her intentions and change her emotions (much like, say, Fire Lord Ozai or Emperor Belos).

One moment she's unleashing cold fury upon Susie and Noelle, the next moment she's expressing irritation over Asgore eating the snack tray and then the next moment she's giving Kris a warm smile (and not-so-warm embrace) while giving them an 'apology'.

It really serves to make Carol that much more unsettling villain and it really adds to the helplessness that Noelle experiences as Carol is able to effortlessly hide her true self so that no one realizes something is VERY VERY VERY WRONG, whether it be the people of Hometown, the Dreemurrs, or even her own husband!
