"It's a rather pathetic fate that the higher gyms must go through--along with the elites and champions. If there's such a strong last gym...then the Elite Four must rarely be challenged...if ever." Waves Volkner off airily. "Is that a problem? I didn't realize that I was quite so unwelcome. But please, don't flatter yourself. I didn't come only for you."

——Volkner has no opinion on Wallace at all. He seems like a strong person, at the very least, but he was neutral otherwise. “I am the eighth gym leader, yeah. That doesn’t necessarily mean there’s anything to do, though. Most of the trainers that are challenged have a tough time as is even getting to me and beating the other trainers in the gym. Plus, if they do challenge me, it’s usually not very thrilling.” Shrugs. He won’t explain it further—-wouldn’t’t wanna bug the guy. “…so you literally came here with nothing in mind. All the way here. No requests? Favours?” Stares at. Snorts. What a guy.

I would expect you to be quite swamped...especially in such as city as yours." What? Oh, no. Now he has to come up with an excuse, doesn't he? "Ah? Well--it's nothing." He's failed.

"So you were being considerate of me. Huh. I appreciate it, then." Shrugs. "Not busy in the least. As far as I know, I’m never busy. What did you need?"
