Transitions have defined this year - especially this past month.

We recognized Mental Health Awareness last month, and now it's time for PRIDE. This year has been different for me. I received a "gender dysphoria" diagnosis from the Navy in June 2024, which enabled me to schedule my Top Surgery in early January - before the current administration put a stop to our gender-affirming care and labeled us Transgender service members"unfit".

I dedicated a decade of my life to this organization - A DECADE sacrificing my freedom, family gatherings, birthdays, weddings, funerals... everything. and it’s wild bc I would have easily sacrificed ten more. I wanted to continue, I wanted this life, I was finally becoming my most authentic self and Now, as I navigate my "voluntary separation," I'm experiencing a mix of emotions - guilt, resentment, self-doubt, depression, anxiety... everything. Financial uncertainty also weighs on my mind, as this organization provided for me and my family, and now I'm unsure of what's next.

It's overwhelming, but being able to share my story and to be seen and heard by all of you brings me an indescribable sense of comfort.

hahahah anyway, today was my week six post op with the coolest dr. and well it’s been a long fucking ride since JUNE my friend. we had to do surgical intervention this past month on Dec 12th and here we are…. ugh, anyway- one more week in a boot and then a shoe! woohoo!!! p.s the incision healed perfectly. thanks doc piscoya!!!
