Saw this spot at the beach which reminded me so much of the scene where Nausicaa met Odysseus. Like that's where it happened, that's how I pictured the place in my mind

I was wondering, is there any Italic rep in Greek myth from the Ionic side of the country other than the Daunians like Euippe, Daunus and Calchus? Because Circe is referred to as Tyrrhenian in several sources and the Tyrrhenian sailors are famous as well, as are a bunch of Sicilian characters but I can't think of any characters from the side of the peninsula that looks towards the Ionian sea. But there must be some, right? Cause it's the side closer to Greece and there's been a Greek presence there since the bronze age and into the Spartan colonies 馃馃馃

Do you ever think about how Anticlea and Laertes treated Eumaeus, a slave, as Odysseus and Ctimene's equal and raised him like was no different than their biological children, just imagine Odysseus and Ctimene calling Eumaeus their brother, everyone else would think of him as "just a slave" but to them he's their family, their brother, maybe not by blood but he's still their family.

What piece of media would you most likely crossover with the greek mythos?
In, terms of character dynamics, dtakes or just for the lols.
I would love to see the mangaka for Jojo's bizarre adventure, Hirohiko Araki do some stuff with greek myths. The man's style is already inspired by classical sculpture, and the series' mix of crazy fun, bizarreness and really introspective and downright philosophical moments makes it a perfect match for something as varied as greek myth imo. I could definitely see him illustrate a sort of anthology of Greek myths or something of the like. A fully original jojo part set in mythical ancient Greece would be awesome too, but I feel that's a bit more out there. Would love to see stand users inspired by myths though lol

One of my dreams is to see the author of Vinland Saga tackle some greek myth. The series is known for its attention to detail when it comes to historical costume and inclusion of medieval Scandinavian artifacts, so I can only imagine what a series as well crafted as Vinland Saga set in Mycenaean Greece would be like. I feel like the Iliad shares themes with the series, and I would be very excited if he adapted the story, though I feel that due to the similarities it would feel a bit redundant, so perhaps a fully original story like Vinland would be better. I guess this is less about the specific creator and more about a work with this much love for detail and with a story of the caliber.

Something I would also love to see is an Odyssey comic adaptation in the style of Corto Maltese, since I feel it really fits the tone of the story.

favorite minor/obscure moment in the odyssey?
Ooo I love this question because I really love the tiny details in the Odyssey, which also means I have a hard time picking favorites lol. Here are a few in no particular order, plus a couple that maybe don't really count as minor but eh
Book 13 is one of my favorites in this regard, it has stuff like Odysseus looking back at the sun, waiting eagerly for it to set so the Phaeaceans can get him home, or the Phaeacean sailors providing him with blankets for him to sleep on board and them gently leaving him and his treasure in Ithaca. The intimate descriptions of Ithaca in this book and Odysseus not recognizing it at first are also stand outs for me.
The orchard scene in book 24 also has to be one of my favorites. The element of the lack of recognition is there again (this time Laertes is the one to not recognize Odysseus without a divine disguise), which I think is a superb way of showing that despite Odysseus getting his homecoming, his home isn't the same as when he left. But what really does it for me is the memory of Laertes describing each tree and crop in the orchard to little Odysseus, it brings back memories of my grandfather doing the same with me, but aside from personal reasons I really do think it's a really poetic passage, with this memory being what finally makes Laertes recognize his son. Just a very emotional passage overall.
The scene where Telemachus arrives in Eumaeus' hut when he comes back from Sparta and Eumaeus greets him like a father and Telemachus calls him with the hypochoristic 伪蟿蟿伪, all while his real father is sitting there as a beggar. Wonderful stuff
When Odysseus goes to sleep the night before the killing of the suitors in book 20 and begs his heart to stay still since he had to endure worse when he encountered the Cyclops.
Some other moments I love are stuff like Telemachus identifying that Mentes is actually Athena, or the banter between the young Phaeaceans that challenge Odysseus, or Penelope laughing when Telemachus sneezes and interpreting it as a good omen, or the scene where she tells beggar Odysseus about the goose dream and wonders how to interpret it, or Odysseus lying about himself gathering wealth among the Thesprotians mirroring what actually happened in the court of the Phaeaceans, or how the suitors nickname Arneus as Irus because of his role as a messenger. I think I could go on for hours because, as I said in the intro, these little details are probably my favorite part of the Odyssey. So thank you anon for the question!
