I appreciate a slower internet experience, but just never seeing any new art and everything else moving at a glacial pace, and boring posts sticking to the top forever is bad design

I was looking for a room to rent for an art studio, and they cost as much (or more) as a whole apartment did 5 years ago. Some cost more than my mortgage. We are cooked as a society.

I didn't realize it until I changed all my color themes on my computer, but Tumblr, Twitter, and BlueSky all have the exact same layout. I got confused when I switched to Tumblr, looked away for a split second, and thought I was on Twitter when I turned back.

What's the fucking point of it all?

What is the internet missing now that makes it so boring?

Everything is a social feed.

"Communities" are too big. They are just a different type of social feed. From Reddit to Tumblr, every community is huge, dissolute, and full of bots. There is no gatekeeping and its destroyed any possibility of community. Discord chats are OK, but chats are in essence a subset of feed when there are 1k+ members and only a handful of people know each other.

There is no way out of the social feed DeviantArt for example had standalone pages for each art submission, blog like "journals," and fairly static block-built personal pages, shops and small guilds with galleries and personal forums/chats.

NO ONE is doing it for the love of the game. Everyone (including me tbh) wants to sell something instead of cataloguing their mad spiral into obsession with their special interest. All personal pages are just a route to a different social media or a shop.
