jayce enduring a symbolic rendition of viktor's trauma is so painful and so, so clever.

being stricken down and immobilized through sheer accident or, in viktor's case, a cruelly random quirk that caused his disability.

then physically dragging himself from the lowest level of zaun to piltover, much like how viktor spent his youth reaching toward the promise piltover offered, but only if he could "pull himself up by the boot straps" and get there on his own. socioeconomic forces working against him be damned.

i appreciate arcane reminding us of viktor's origins - the reason he is so called to help people and, eventually, save himself - and putting jayce through the ringer - the contrast between he and viktor's lived experiences is front and center throughout season 1. the writers send jayce, and the audience, on a grueling journey to contemplate those experiences and how they've manifested in these intertwined characters.

On a lighter note Ekko's facial journey when he tried the tea had me giggling like my man was disgusted 💀

The way he immediately shies away once a glimpse of his real self is revealed.

The way he literally gets smaller and tries to hide it.

The way it shows how much he is ashamed of his imperfections.

The fact that he doesn’t want Jayce to see it

Heartbreaking.

So the gift Powder received from Ekko was a necklace with a blue peony.

And you know me from my Vi and Caitlyn post so of course I'll look up what the flower language of that means and it's the following:

And if you look closely, you can see the profile faces of Ekko and Powder in between the petals

In this reality, the two can't be together, as he wasn't HER Ekko. But Powder still means the world to him.

so much of viktor's obsession with the glorious evolution was rooted in hatred and dissatisfaction of his own body. it's only when jayce tells him that he doesn't see him as someone needing to be fixed, but beautiful in his imperfection that viktor is able to let go of that mission. ohhhhhhhh it's so good

just realised yet another one parallel in arcane

what caught my attention is this moment where jinx plays a little makeover with isha and dyes her hair

jinx wishes she had moments like this with her sister and in the next episode we see her painting her face to look almost the same as vi’s tattoo (ofc the writing itself is more in jinx’s style but still)

she’s just a girl who wanted to be like her older sis when she was little – the same way isha now wants to be like jinx

Me when I give the league of legends show a chance because my friend says it's good and I go in expecting an overrated wet fart and I'm slowly forced to acknowledge that it has layered and interesting characters, incredible art direction and animation, deeply engaging political intrigue and gripping drama and I realize that despite any flaws it may have it's ultimately one of the most mature and well rounded pieces of animated television I've ever seen come out of the western world and I end the most recent episode sitting leaned forward staring at the TV actively crying at 5 am

viktor arcane has to be one of the characters ever.

he's gay. he's terminally ill. he's suicidal. he's from league of legends. he's in a toxic relationship with an orb. he also might be the orb(???). he bullshitted his way into the academy by pretending he went there. he rizzed up a guy so he wouldn't kill himself. he then tried to impress said guy by breaking into his boss's lab. then when he got caught he tried to play it off by saying he thought this big intimidating door was his bedroom door and he was just trying to sneak a guy in there. he nearly died because hetero sex was happening like a mile away. kinda. he took illegal drugs. he's also the apprentice of the guy who's making the illegal drugs and never mentions it. he's inspired off of the tale of frankenstein's monster. he got shot by a missle and fucking died. when he came back to life he immediately broke up his messy gay situationship and became jesus fucking christ.
