SOCIAL ISSUES: OUR PAST AND FUTURE

Social issues have negative effects on any group or individual. 

What is the cause of social issues? How can we solve it? 

INCOMPETENT LEADERS

Leaders are supposed to be intelligent, proactive, and have integrity. However, many leaders lack moral intelligence that aligns with integrity, and their ability to be honest is clouded by egoism or narcissism. 

If a leader lacks self-awareness and emotional intelligence this may fail their leadership. In addition, leaders are adept in rhetorical speech, people should be wary of how their emotion perceive their speeches.

2. POVERTY AND HOMELESSNESS

We all know that poverty can cause homelessness. More so, lack of education, unemployment, natural disasters, war, and political instability are some of the reasons for poverty and homelessness. 

Strengthening social welfare, breaking the pattern of unemployment, and addressing the issue of education can eventually lead to a quality of life.

3. MENTAL HEALTH

There are many causes of mental health issues such as trauma, loneliness, poverty, debt, and whatnot. Today many people are raising awareness to reduce the stigma of mental health issues. If you are suffering from mental health you can ask for help from a psychiatrist or psychologist.

4. CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is happening because of human activities. It’s a long-term progress to change the weather and atmosphere pattern.  Glaciers in the Arctic Ocean are melting gradually, sea levels are rising and powerful greenhouse gases are present in the atmosphere. 

How do we deal with the issue? We changed to sustainable transport and solar power.

5. OVERPOPULATION

The overpopulation issue is not sustainable for humanity to survive. People should be aware of the impact that will lead to the worsening of the environment or nature. 

We need to address the overpopulation issue as soon as possible because eventually, the earth will struggle to sustain the needs of humanity.

3 MASTERPIECE MOVIES

Did you watch a movie that inspires you? How did it impact your perspective in life? Do you have a favorite movie?

In this blog, I will share 3 masterpiece movies. Then I will tell you why this movie changed my perspective on life.

SHINDLER’S LIST

The story depicts the righteous deeds of Oskar Schindler during World War II. Oskar Shindler was a German Industrialist, born in Hungary on April 1908. He was known for saving the lives of 1,200, Jews. He gave bribes and luxury items to Nazi officials to keep his workers safe. Oskar Schindler died in October 1974.

Schindler's List is a historical drama film. It’s powerful at the same time heartbreaking. Watching it is almost too realistic, you can feel the despair and fear of Jewish People. The ending was so powerful, particularly when Schindler regretted that he didn’t save as many as he could have done. It's one of the great movies ever made.

                                           “One who saves one life saves the world entire”

It did change my perspective in life, knowing it happened in real life. The atrocity of the Nazis changes the course of history. People may try to reverse history through false information, but those who suffered from history can’t deny the human capacity to do atrocious deeds. 

Meanwhile, some are grateful for their privileged life but still many people are suffering. Those who are privileged can’t understand the condition of the people who suffer in this economy.

FORREST GUMP

“Love is like a box of chocolate,” is the movie's famous line. As the title mentions, Forrest Gump is the protagonist of the movie. He is intellectually or mentally challenged and has a physical impairment. Despite life problems, he has a positive attitude to face any circumstances. 

Forrest Gump went through a lot of adventures while holding on to his love for Jenny.

Eventually, Jenny and Forrest met again and had a son, but the former died afterward.

Forrest Gump was taught with some wisdom from her mother. Indeed, the love of wisdom makes him profound and tough. Furthermore, this movie made me realize that no matter the circumstances always cling to hope and be optimistic. 

MR. NOBODY

Nemo is the last mortal on earth, at the age of 118 and his memory is deteriorating he is interviewed by a journalist to disclose completely his life. 

The central theme of Mr. Nobody is about choices. Everything remains possible in life to happen before making a choice otherwise, once you make a choice there will be consequences. The movie is profound in addressing free will and finding the meaning of life by making a choice.

As a creator of your life, every decision you make is right. Your choices may go wrong depending on how you perceive the circumstances but it doesn’t matter, find meaning whatever the circumstances are. it's up to you to find meaning and seize the diverse possibility of making a choice. 

These 3 masterpiece movies that I share can change your perspective. Oskar, Forrest, and Nemo represent each of us. The point of life is to create purpose and meaning.

DOG: A man’s best friend.

Dog is a man’s bestfriend. But first, let’s dig into the history of dog domestication. 

How and when this domestication happened has been a matter of speculation.

Dog Domestication

Dogs were domesticated more than 12,000  years ago. They evolved from gray wolves to a variety of distinct breeds. According to paleontologists and archeologists, Miaces are the ancestors of dogs, wolves, foxes, and jackals.

Now, let’s go back to why dogs are man’s best friend.

Dogs are loyal companions. They provide comfort and support to their owners. 

Dogs are protective. They will make you safe and secure.

Dogs are affectionate. They will make you feel loved and appreciated.

Moreover, dogs have a lack of judgment and they are simply happy with your presence.

But I wonder what dogs think of humans. 

Maybe they see us as worthy when we see ourselves as worthless.

Maybe they see us as somebody when we see ourselves as nobody.

Maybe they see us as perfect when we see ourselves as flawed.

Research on Spatial Bias Phenomenon

There is research about spatial bias to understand better how dogs think. 

Researchers recognize that understanding a dog's spatial bias sheds light on their evolutionary past and enhances their well-being as they evolve. Dogs were trained, researchers created more engaging environments and even aided in designing spaces that cater to a dog's instincts. So, the next time you wonder about your canine navigation skills, know that you're witnessing an evolutionary brilliance in action.

Furthermore, the study concludes that spatial bias in dogs is not merely sensory but also cognitive. Researchers figured out that dogs with better cognitive performance recognize objects as easily as to places.

Dogs in the 21st Century

There is a German Pinchers, Russell Terriers, Border Collies, Bloodhounds, Akitas, Bullmastiffs,  St. Bernards, Newfoundland, Pug, and many more.

Since dogs were domesticated it resulted in a variety of breeds. New breeds emerge as humans continue experimenting with the possibilities of genetic selection and crossbreeding.

Seven Classification of Dogs

Working. Service dogs, therapy Dogs, and Police Dogs · 

Sporting. Intelligent, energetic, and eager to please.

Terriers. Tend to be very headstrong and independent, with a stronger prey drive and a very alert nature. 

Toy. Affectionate, sociable, and adaptable

Hound. Hunting dogs, are used by hunters to track or chase prey.

Non-sporting. Highly active dogs and require regular exercise.

Herding. Innate ability to herd other animals.

Dogs are part of our lives. Like humans, they are animals that evolved equipped with intelligence. They were domesticated by our ancestors for reasons. 

At the same time, dogs are happy to integrate with humans. But unlike humans, dogs are not complicated companions. They love connection and affection and don’t like drama.

Dogs make people happier, they simply love you as who you are. Their affection is contagious.
