❛  Dr. Cohen . ❜ He introduces himself with an extended hand and subtle grin . ❛ I’m the counselor .  But before you roll your eyes and storm off ---  ❜ He then gestures to the comfortable and empty seat placed across his desk before making his way to his office door; closing it quietly behind them .   ❛  --- My job isn’t to lecture or be invasive . I’ll tell you what I tell every other student : You can come to me if you need anything , and it will remain completely confidential. Just between us.   ❜ After offering the young man a welcoming smile , he sits across the desk . ❛  To start off , you are --- Jacob Salvatore  .   ❜ Flipping through a couple pieces of paper , Nathan picks up a pen and writes down the boys name on the empty sheet next to his file .  ❛  Your father -- was Stefan Salvatore , yes ?   ❜

He’s instantly and visibly grateful for her kind personality , and responds with a gentle smile and stretch of his own arm. He takes her hand in his own and nods firmly as he gives it a soft shake . ❛  Yes , I’ve just moved here from England . I teach Psych, and only just started here a few days ago -- If you couldn’t already tell .  ❜ He laughs off his own clumsiness , then shamelessly continues the conversation with his usual attempt at charm . ❛  This is definitely the first time we’ve met . You have a smile I’d most certainly remember.    ❜

❛  Hey there ...  ❜ His eyes lay upon the back of what appeared to be a young woman, crouched uncomfortably on the grass . With it being past nightfall , he worried for her safety -- knowing there were others like him in this town , only not as forgiving when it came to their desires . As much as he wished to approach and offer her consolation , it was important to him that she feel safe in her surroundings. Nathan took a few small steps and kept his eyes on her long brunette locks . 

❛  Hey , are you alright ? Can I help you ? ❜ His accent was prominent , but his voice was soft -- subtle . ❛  The park at this hour is probably not the best place to find comfort.   ❜

❛  Yeah , I know Damon .   Can’t say we were ever the closest of friends or anything though .  ❜  Looking up from the bar table he had voluntarily occupied strictly for himself , he responded to the girl in question with an arched brow . ❛  Look , you seem like a bright woman . If you want my advice , don’t bother . He won’t call back , and it’s better for you that he doesn’t -- trust me .  ❜ Thinking that was all she wanted , he went back to scrolling through his phone and quietly sipping his whisky, but she hadn’t moved. Nathaniel then arched his head slowly and peered back up at her .   ❛  --- Can I help you with anything else .... ?  ❜

 After turning the corner of the school’s narrow hallway , Nathaniel clumsily ran into a woman who he quickly realized was a fellow staff member . Frantic apologies escaped worried lips as he bent down to pick up her documents . ❛  I’m normally more aware of my surroundings -- When they’re not so new .  ❜ He scoffed at himself , though audible , before extending an arm and offering the woman her papers with a guilty grin plastered across his lips . 

    ❛  Sorry -- You probably had those a little more organized .   ❜

 ❛  I hope you don’t mind my being here this evening.    ❜  His last class had just finished and the young professor carried his bag and a confident smile into one of the College’s meeting rooms; where he was informed there would be a scheduled practice for one of the school’s dance groups . Nathaniel hoped to learn more about his students individually , and his first step was to show interest in their passions . ❛  I’m no good at Ballet , but I always enjoyed the classics . I’d love to watch , if I’m welcome .   ❜

     ❛  It is an honour to meet you .   ❜   His eyes filled with awe as he gazed up at the woman before him. Swiftly, he unsheathed his sword then laid it on the ground at his feet; Nathaniel’s attempt to show the woman that his true intentions pose no threats .   ❛  I’ve heard stories of you, but never imagined ---  ❜ He stopped in midst of his sentence , and politely brought himself to one knee . He would then wait quietly for permission to formally converse with the Targaryen.

With a slow shake of his head, he answers her inquiry with a firm ‘ no ‘ . ❛  There’s no sense in changing your name. I’ve tried it in the past, but it doesn’t help, really . ❜   Nathaniel confidently carries himself to the woman with a glass in hand, taking a seat next to her and extending his hand to offer the warm blood. He kept an arms length of space between them to ensure her comfort. 

❛  I move between provinces and states every decade or so --  ❜ He explains before taking a casual sip of his own drink and placing the glass onto the surface of the table in front of them. With a small smile, he offers consolation in midst of his own curiosity. ❛  You’re pretty new to everything , aren’t you  ?  If there’s anything I can help you with, don’t hesitate to ask. I happened to go through my first years without guidance and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone .   ❜
