orma-harvinci-rwby:
She looked at him like he was out of his mind at first, but she knew arguing was not going to help sway him. Orma attempted to get up, but she fell a few inches back down to the ground when her foot slipped. She cursed under her breath, and compromised. She pulled herself into a nearby chair next to Alice’s bed, and got comfortable.
“Before you tell me to lay down, know I appreciate your kindness, but I just want to sit here for awhile. If I am honest Nagi, regardless of any fault, I still feel bad. I just need to think about stuff.” She curled herself up and wrapped her arms around her legs as her knees were to her chest. She looked at Nagi with a tad bit of shame, realizing how lazy she was about to sound.
“Could… could you grab that pillow and blanket for me from the bed I was in?”
“Understood,” he nods, standing to go grab what she had requested, before looking back to her, “Orma...Alice hasn’t had many friends throughout her life, for obvious reasons. With that in mind, I advise you to be careful.”
The old man had seen far too many times just how much damage a stray heart could do. And when it came to his little stormstress? Whenever her heart got out of hand, things tended to go haywire with her. Nagi couldn’t help but muse upon the thunderbird that laid unconscious in the other room--her body was built to conduct storms, but she couldn’t control it--any of it.
She denies her legacy, until it was absolutely necessary to allow it.

“Thank you.” He felt shameful, asking to stay the night in a place like this. But after trekking through the mountains for a week, it was a small price to pay for some rest.
“Yeah, yeah,” the ravenhead waved it off, “I just don’t want any complaining if some of the amenities ain’t workin’ right now, got me?”

“I… okay.” Rose shuffled slightly, her thoughts still racing. She hated not knowing what to do, or not being able to do anything other than stay still. The waiting killed her, it made her think too much. Resigning herself to sitting on the bed, Nagi would find the hand he had gripped her with reciprocated in kind, a tightness around his forearm as a small droplet fell on the sheets from above.
“It’s ironic. My semblance lets me connect to other people, but… why can’t I seem to understand them?”
“Because you’re a human,” he blurts out. For a moment, he considers rescinding it, but instead elects to elaborate, “People have emotions, and they have attitudes. Things happen, Rose. You can change your outlook, but not your true nature. If your body attempted to compensate for your personality quirks, you can’t help that. You just have to play with the hand you’re dealt, you know?” he smiles, “Alice is always going to find a way to drink all the sake we have, so I might as well have her do it on my watch, where I can make sure she doesn’t hurt herself.”

She was stunned by the sudden embrace, for physical contact of that sort was so rare she was never expecting it. She didn’t move as he spoke, both arms at her side. Only after she let him speak, did her arms move. She even hugged him with Titan deployed on her left arm, holding him close but careful not to squeeze or force too much. She let go, but only after enjoying the feeling for a few precious moments. After this embrace, she looked at him with a smile. “Thank you, Nagi. I will make sure this does not happen again.”
With that, she opened Titan Grasp’s hand and set it down beside her with the hand as it’s stand. It began to glow between its segments, sporting a warmth emanating from it. This is the only reason she made it as far as she did up the mountain, and it is now being used to keep her friend warm. She released her arm from Titan, keeping it acting as a radiator for Alice. Orma then looks up at Nagi with determination and a hint of desperation, caused by a need to be useful.
“What can I do Nagi? I can fetch things or something. I admit I do not know what I can do to help around, but I promise I will try.”
Nagi shook his head,
“Orma, you just now got out of bed, and you’re already trying to do major work. What you can do to help is to rest,” at what he assumed was an objection, he stressed the word again, “Rest.”
She’d be fine, Nagi knew she would be. Alice had fainted from her storms from time to time, but she always awoke afterwards, even if it was a two-to-three day nap she needed.

“Uhhh, right then.” Well, looked like that was over with. Now he had to bring up something he was equally wary about. “So do you guys have somewhere I can stay for now?”
“We’re a temple, not a hotel service,” she glowered, before her voice lowered, “...but yeah, we’ve got guest rooms, I’ll show you to one when you’re ready.”

“Of course. I’ll be here.” Blake watched her old ally as she left, rubbing at her arm over her sleeve.
One ear tilted back as Nagi approached, and at first, she didn’t react. But after a few moments, she sighed heavily and turned to him. “I know,” she muttered. “But when it does get bloody, she won’t be there. And I won’t break my promise; blood doesn’t mean death.” Her expression darkened. “Though I can’t control what the Grimm do.”
He had a point about the ‘Fang wisening up to her plan, though. “I know I’ll need a backup plan. But I won’t involve Alice if she doesn’t want to be involved. But aside from her semblance getting stronger, I know the other reason why you pulled her out–it wasn’t what my father wanted it to be, it’s not what it was meant to be… and I want to end that once and for all. She deserves to be a part of that.”
“Speaking of her semblance getting stronger,” Nagi almost instantly followed her words, “her storms are getting worse, and...” he wasn’t sure how to say this, “An Ursa Major broke through the storm the other day, and actually managed to get to the temple, and attacked one of Alice’s friends.” He gave her a serious look, his piercing green irises locked on Blake’s own,
“Alice, fucking, lost, it. I don’t mean she attacked the Ursa to defend her friend like you or any other ‘normal’ person would, I mean she drew the entirety of her aura inwards until it was no more than 2 feet from her, and then caused Kisanaga’s blade to be enveloped by what was basically a tiny F5 tornado. She didn’t just kill the grimm, she annihilated it, and then fainted for about 4-5 days.” He took a deep breath,
“So I’m going to say this once: Do not give my daughter reason to lose it, do you understand?”

“Too dangerous…” It wasn’t the easiest thing to imagine. To be trapped like that within your own power, unable to reach out or get to know others. Suddenly her woes and worries, though still potent, seemed miniscule in comparison. Yet Alice had still been kind enough of heart to go out of her way to help, even as stupid as she had been.
“I should probably go and apologise… to her and my team.” Once again she’d let her frustration and personal drive get the better of her. It probably wouldn’t be the last time either… and how many times could she say sorry like this before it meant nothing anymore?
Nagi gripped her arm, shaking his head,
“Miss, just don’t. With people like them--like us-- it’s just easier to let them calm down by themselves. Okay?”
The truth was, Nagi simply didn’t want Alice to blow up at this poor girl again, not when she was clearly willing to make amends. It was always difficult for those with ‘too much power’ to deal with the general public, if for no other reason aside from the fact that every time they tried, they were met with such opposition and hatred, they liked to hole up in their rooms for days afterwards.

Relief flooded through Blake, and she smiled slightly. “Some of them are. But others aren’t, as far as I was able to find, so we’ll just end up camping about a mile behind them.” It was clear that Blake had done her own scouting before coming to the temple.
She paused for a moment, and looked down. “You have no idea how grateful I am for your help, Alice,” she muttered. “I don’t know where my team is after so long away from them, and it’s not going to really be possible for me to find out anytime soon, so I need as many allies as I can get. Mom and Dad are taking care of the Menagerie branch, but it’s otherwise just Sun and me. I can’t… I can’t do it by myself, so…” She looked up again. “Thank you.”
Alice let out something between an ‘ehhh’ and a ‘blehhh,’
“Yeah, yeah--thank me by havin’ neither of us nor anyone else get killed, alright?” She sighed, starting to make her way towards the stairs, “I’ll grab my shit, I’ll be back in a little while, kay?” She didn’t wait for a response, departing before Blake could get back to her.
Now Nagi approached, a disquiet expression over his features,
“You sure this is a good idea, Blake? I mean no offense, of course, but...” he trailed off, “...This is going to be bloody, you know that, right? Nobody plans to trap a camp in storms, and then go in and expect to come out without anyone asking what was up with the sudden change in weather. You might get one, maybe two camps before they pick up on things.”

Nagi stood up, walking to her and simply embracing her. He very often did it with the kids--they were always so frustrated with themselves or with the world that a hug became a rather valuable thing.
“Orma, none of us saw it coming. If we had, I never would have let it get that far. And by the time it was that close, there were very few among us able to handle something so devastating. Alice was the only one close enough, and the only one who would have gotten angry enough. The others are always either sad or blaming themselves...but not her. Alice learned rather early on that she wasn’t the problem--that the people who hated her were the problem.” A pause to let his words sink in,
“What I’m trying to say, Orma, is that it wasn’t your fault. And of course you can stay here--I was actually going to suggest it.”
Orma gave Nagi a nod of confirmation, understanding the situation better, thinking it was better to accept what she heard rather then question it. It happened to be way more convenient to accept info here, since she had come to understand that there are just some things you do not know know. But the info did not matter. The words her brain highlighted was the words telling her that Alice was ok and she was her savior once again. Anything about her being a Faunus and her strength, she felt Alice would tell her when she wants to, confident that it was not going to interfere with her being close to Alice. It was not common for her to find hospitality, so now that she found some, she would grip onto it tightly.
She did not let it show, but she was angry at herself. She stood up, looking down at her friend, and then she walked out of the room. She was back in a matter of moments, with a solemn covering her face, as she came back in with her weapon on her arm. Titan glowed faintly as the fire dust inside kept it warm. She sat down next to the bed, her arm and weapon counterpart at her sides with her back to the bed. She finally spoke out of the blue to Nagi after a few moments.
“I am so sorry Nagi…. I just froze… I didn’t think I could make it to my weapon in time if it went for Alice, and she was still half asleep…” She kept her voice steady, but at a cost of her speaking consistently. “Can.. can I stay right here?” She could not look him in the eye, instead she had her gaze cast towards the floor.

He almost flinched from the look she gave him. Was it just him or was he getting an intense vibe from this girl? “You’re still pissed at me for that, ain’t ya?”
“...Meh.” She shrugged--he was in the clear, apparently. “Less pissed, more just...I dunno, I don’t do mushy shit well.”

orma-harvinci-rwby:
The first conscious thought in Orma’s head was the panic. The last thing she she remembers is the Ursa… Her eyes shot at Nagi and looked him with a panicked glare strong enough you could swear she could broadcast her emotions just by connecting eyes. “Ursa! URSA!” She shook him, in a fit, but as she had leaned up to confront him, she looked past him, spotting Alice. Her panic turned into dread as she stared at Alice, the pale girl laying there in what seemed a sleep that offered no rest. She slowly got out of bed, and walked over, stumbling and leaning against a nightstand along the way as she ignored any sounds or voices as she shrugged off them all, focused on her own terror. She made it the her bed, and watched the small rise and fall of her chest. She was out, and Orma’s green eyes shrunk as she thought of what could have happened. Rationalization had no effect, but the actual story had no pertinence.
She failed. She failed to protect her. She had one good thing, and in less then a day she nearly lost it. Her blood boiled and cooked at the same time, a frozen sting burned her heart. She had been out all this time surviving, but all that ‘strength’ meant nothing when she had gotten something worth a FUCKIN DAMN. She knelt slowly at the bedside, and reached and placed her hand on the porcelain hand nearest to her of Alice’s.
Orma let her heart calm down before she turned towards Nagi, gave him a quick apologetic look, and then her face returned to a more determined face. “I would like to know what happened, and what the situation is Nagi. Please.”
“Our fair stormbird,” Nagi put a hand at Orma’s shoulder, “saved your life is what happened. I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve only ever seen her that angry a few times, but never enough to cause her aura to fold into her body.” He ran a hand through her hair, pulling a long, black feather from the mess, “she’s just sleeping now. That took a lot out of her, so she’ll need some time to recover. I hate to think what’d happen if she’d exposed her wings...”
Suddenly, he remembers,
“...Wait, you didn’t know, did you?” He looks to Orma, “Alice is a faunus as well; a distinct species of avian faunus, commonly referred to as ‘thunderbirds,’ with the ability to channel electrical energy into their feathers, usually for the purpose of intimidation. And considering her semblance...” he trails off.

Now look at that, you made her sad. “H-Hey, you can just look at it as strong willed! That’s better than imposing, right?”
“Uh huh,” she grumbles, still giving him an evil side-eye. Choose your words carefully, friend; an angry stormstress is a terrible force to be reckoned with.

“Alright, alright, geez man. I just meant it’s funny how a girl so… imposing… is the calmest part of a huge ass blizzard.” That might not be true in his case.
“...Yeah, I guess.” She looked aside, “Imposing, huh? That’s...a new one.” Now that she’d run out of steam, it looked like she was just sad.

“Grayscale…?” She hadn’t heard of anywhere like that. You’d think being sent to retrieve something from the mountain might warrant something of a mention of a place like this, but it was the first she’d known of a place like this.
But dangerous semblances? Admittedly she’d still been slightly skeptical of Alice’s nature, but after seeing what had just happened between the girl and this man, and the ominous nature of his words, it seemed she really was responsible for the storms.
“So then, how many are here? I mean, until now I’d never thought people might have to deal with this kind of thing. I know people can make their semblances dangerous, if they walk down the wrong path, but…”
“A girl whose body spontaneously-combusts, only to rise again from the ashes five minutes later. A boy who, if he’s not by a fire at all times, drains all the heat from a room. A girl whose aura is such a tempest, she causes storms to form around her whether she likes it or not. A girl whose aura causes organic material except for humans to decay around her. A boy whose aura causes others to be more ferocious around him. These are the kinds of things that these children bear, miss Belmont.” He sat back,
“As for how many...a little less than a hundred. All of whom are too dangerous to be in normal society.”

@orma-harvinci-rwby, cont. from (x)
“Orma!” Alice cried out, jumping to her feet and reaching for her, only for the creature to swat the serpent-girl aside like a toy. A chill ran through the stormstress, and the blizzard outside suddenly picked up intensity...
Nagi came down the stairs, spotting Alice as her eyes started glowing bright blue, and the storm outside was howling worse than any tornado she had ever made. Realizing just what was about to happen, the man shouted for the others to retreat, diving onto Orma to protect her. For a brief second, he glanced back at his ravenheaded daughter, watching as the whole of the mountain went silent, the storms’ energy flowing into the girl, her eyes swirling a glowing, beautifully terrifying blue, sparkling as lightning arced around her irises...
Alice screamed at the top of her lungs, Nagi retreating his head away just to survive the blast. This is why she was here--the electrical energy swirling around her body, carrying with it the wrath of an F-5 Tornado, or a Category-5 Hurricane, the howling winds, the rain bursting through the windows, this was why she could never return to normal society. She nearly ripped Kisanaga from its sheathe, the wind and storm-energy joining the blade’s frozen surface.
She was on the Ursa in seconds, jumping atop the thing and driving Kisanaga into its heart first, then its skull-plating, the old sword shearing the ‘protection’ in half like butter. The ‘poor’ grimm barely had enough time to open its mouth before this monster of a girl was destroying it.
By the time it was all said and done, Alice jumped off the grimm...and promptly passed out.
She’d been asleep for almost a day now--whatever that was, it took more out of her than any other storm. Nagi was beside Orma when she awoke.
“Hey,” he smiled, “How are you feeling?”

“Ahh, well, it’s not really that important…” It was hard to believe being near this girl was the safest place in this entire compound. “… you’re mad about it, aren’t you?”
“A’course I’m mad!” She finally cried out, “Ungrateful little...” she grumbles, still glaring.

orma-harvinci-rwby:
Orma was desperately trying to figure out her sudden emotions. She lacked experience dealing with people, but this was entirely different. She wanted to run to the other end of the couch, but she also would never let herself do it. She was conflicted, wanting to run and wanting to confront this. She then decided the best way to deal with this new found enemy was to listen to it.
She nervously swallowed, and leaned her head on Alice’s closest shoulder. “Maybe I-I am a bit cold..heh..” She felt better slightly, listening to this feeling. Before she knew it, she had closed her eyes and had a small blush and her face relaxed. As soon as she begun to drift off, then came the soft hiss that happened with every slow exhale she made, its sound soft and gentle. Her tongue would flick gently and slowly, unlike when she tried to smell with it.the sound was like a fragile rumble that very few had ever heard. In actuality, only one person had ever made her feel relaxed enough around for her body to allow the sound to occur.
Alice gently brushed a stray lock out of the serpent-girl’s face, smiling softly at her noises. Potential for such a dangerous creature, being so sweet and pretty. Something about it made the stormstress smile brightly, even as her own energy faded fast.
“Sleep well, little snake,” she whispers, laying her head gently on Orma’s, hand wrapped around her in a makeshift sideways-hug as she drifted off as well, the calmness slowly lulling her to sleep...
