Day 9: What do I have to do to keep you huh?

You never asked him for anything.

That was the most dangerous part.

You never begged for affection, never reached for the hand he always tucked in his pockets, never looked at him with wide, expectant eyes like everyone else did. You simply were Kind. Loyal. Steady.

And that terrified him more than titans ever could.

Because you were everything he wanted.

It started quietly. You were there after every mission, handing him hot tea without a word. Sitting next to him during meal hours when others gave him space out of fear. You smiled without expecting a smile in return.

He thought you were naïve at first.

But you never blinked at blood. You stitched wounds with the same ease you tied your boots. And when his eyes met yours after a near-death encounter, you didn't panic or cry.

You just smiled and said, "You came back!"

And that was the moment Levi Ackerman knew he was doomed.

But still he tried to ignore it.

Tried to focus on paperwork, on training, on anything but the softness of your voice or the way you always remembered how he took his tea—no sugar, just bitter. Like him.

But affection was dangerous. Wanting was dangerous.

And still, he wanted.

One evening, he spotted you laughing.

You were standing by the stables with another soldier—someone your age. Clean face, warm smile, hands that hadn't held as much death. The guy handed you a handkerchief, and you took it, cheeks flushed.

Something inside Levi twisted.

You looked like you belonged there, in a world where people smiled. A world where lovers exchanged cloth instead of bleeding out in battle.

He turned and left.

And expectedly, the next day, he didn't show up for tea.

He didn't sit beside you at meals. Didn't speak when your eyes searched his face for something, anything that told you this wasn't all in your head.

And you noticed. Of course you noticed.

But you didn't chase him.

Because you thought he needed space.

You didn't know he was trying to erase you.

And that's how three days passed. Then five. Then ten.

And on the eleventh, you snapped.

You find him in his office after training, standing with arms crossed in front of the window, jaw tight. You enter the room without knocking and walk straight up to him, voice trembling with something volcanic.

"Why are you doing this to me?"

His expression dosen't change. "Doing what?"

"Don't act like you don't know," you say, taking a breath. "You've been avoiding me."

He looks away. "You're imagining things."

"Bullshit, Levi," your voice cracks, "You shut me out. For no reason. After everything we've been through, you just… cut me off like I'm nothing."

"I didn't—"

"You did!" you yell, tears finally covering your eyes. "You did! And I want to know why!"

Silence....

His room feels too cold, too narrow. You step closer.

"What do I have to do to make you love me?" you whisper.

He flinches.

"I never asked you for anything," you say. "Not a relationship, not your time. I knew you weren't ready. I knew you were fighting death every day. I didn't expect you to hold me or kiss me or give me anything—I just wanted you to let me stay. That's it. Just… stay."

You press a hand to your chest, breath shaking. "But instead, you decided for me. Like I'm not strong enough to love you."

"Don't," he says lowly, finally looking at you. His voice is hoarse. "Don't make this harder than it already is."

"Then why?" you cry. "Why push me away?! Why do you keep acting like I'll be better off without you?"

"Because you will be!" Levi shouts.

The silence that followed cracked the air like a whip.He didn't yell often. You never heard him raise his voice like that—not to you.He steps back, fist clenched. "You're young. You have time. You can be with someone who doesn't come home with blood on their hands. Someone who can promise you a future. Someone who won't die tomorrow."

"But I don't want someone else!" you scream. Tears blur your vision, hot and endless. "I want you. You, even if you're rough. You, even if you're afraid. I don't care if the world ends tomorrow—I'll love you in it."

He looks at you then.

And his eyes, those gray-haunted eyes, breaks.

"You deserve better," he says, voice softer now. "A real life. I can't give you that."

"I don't need perfection, Levi!" you choke. "I need you. All your scars. All your fears. I need the man who sharpens his blades beside me. Who comes back from hell and drinks his tea bitter. I chose you."

A long, quiet pause.

Then he mutters, almost bitterly, "You're a fucking idiot."

You laugh through the tears. "I know."

He turns his face away, but not before you see the flicker of something cracking, like a dam that's been holding for too long.

"I tried to make it easier for you," he mutters. "I thought if I left, you'd find someone else. Someone... not me."

You step closer.

"I don't want anyone else," you breathe. "Don't you get it? I'd rather have a few real moments with you than a lifetime with someone I don't love."

He closes his eyes. When he opens them again, something inside him has shattered. And from the pieces, something raw and honest finally rises.

"I wake up every day thinking you'll stop loving me," he says hoarsely. "That you'll look at me and realize I'm too far gone. Too stained."

He lowers his head.

"But I look at you... and I wonder what I ever did to deserve someone like you looking at me that way."

The tears fall freely down your face now. "Then why push me away?"

"Because I love you." he whispers.

You choke on a sob.

"I love you in ways that terrify me," he continues, voice breaking. "And I didn't know how to carry it. How to carry you, without hurting you."

You throw your arms around him. He doesn't resist this time. "I don't want easy," you whisper into his ear. "I want you."

He presses his face into your neck, and for the first time, his walls aren't just cracking, they're collapsing.

"I'll ruin you," he whispers.

"You're the only thing that's ever saved me," you reply.

And in that moment, amid the silence of everything you both tried to deny, Levi kisses you.

It's not soft, it's not desperate either. It's just filled with the weight of a hundred things left unsaid. It tastes like regret, tea, tears, longing and love... all at once.

And when he pulls back, looking at you like you've given him the whole world and asks-

"Tell me y/n, what do I have to do... to make you happy?"

You just smile through the tears.

"Just stay, and don't ever leave."

He pulls you close again. "Never again."

Levi: -holds onto Y/N’s arms as he gives her a pep talk- Don’t be scared. Just go up to him, and let out the nastiest and meanest insult you can think of. Give it to him.

Y/N: -hyped up- Ok! I got it!

Y/N: -walks up to Oluo and stares at him angrily- you…you…-stutters and doesn’t know what to say- You have a small penis! -kicks his groin, sending him to the ground-

Levi: huh…not exactly what I had in mind, but it works -gives Y/N a thumbs up-

(AoT) Sleepwalking for Stew

After a long day of training, everyone is relaxing in the mess hall as they eat dinner. Everyone except for Y/N, who decided to skip dinner and catch up on much needed sleep.

Levi rolls his eyes as he watches his squad bicker in the same way they always do. Oluo argues with Petra, as Gunther and Eld add fuel to the fire to keep themselves entertained.

“Yeah well if you weren’t so small-,” Oluo scoffs to Petra but cuts himself off as he stares past her.

Petra crosses her arms. “Go on.”

Oluo can only raise a brow as everyone turns to see what he’a staring at.

Y/N stumbles into the mess hall, hair in her face and her sleep dress all crumpled. Her sleepy eyes scan the room until they land on her squad’s table, and she marches her bare feet over.

“Um, good evening sleepy head?” Gunther grimaces as Y/N plops her sleepy self down next to him.

Y/N doesn’t reply back, as she only stares down at the table.

Levi raises a brow as he stares at her and then his eyes widen when Y/N leans over and grabs Eld’s bowl of stew.

Y/N takes her hand and dips it into the stew and starts squishing the vegetables and pieces of meat with her hands.

“Y/N what the hell?!” Eld says as he grabs the bowl back.

Y/N stares at her hands as she continues to squish the piece of veggie she was able to keep ahold of.

Levi leans over and nudges her arm. “What the hell is wrong with you? Is this a joke?”

Levi’s eyes widen when Y/N’s hands start shaking and her head snaps up as she looks around.

“What?!” She yells as she looks at everyone, still not fully conscious.

Petra gently grabs her shaky arm. “Y/N, hey what’s wrong with you?” She asks calmly.

Y/N finally snaps out of it and looks around at everyone’s confused stares and then looks down at her dirty hands. She starts laughing as she looks at everyone awkwardly. “I- sorry…I was sleep walking.”

“Sleep walking? I thought you were possessed.” Gunther grunts out.

Y/N shakes her head. “I sleep walk when I’m exhausted.” She explains and looks down at her sleep dress. “Yeah this is awkward…”

Levi scoffs and grabs her hands to clean the stew off of them. “Shit Y/N, you didn’t feel that burning your hands?” He asks as he wipes her shaky hands off.

Y/N smiles awkwardly. “I did, but then I didn’t at the same time. Sorry everyone, I know this is like…really weird.”

Levi tuts. “We need to start padlocking your door now. What if you went outside.”

Y/N smiles and shrugs. “It wouldn’t be the first time.”

I sleepwalk when I’m exhausted and it’s such a weird experience. It’s very out of body, like sometimes I’m aware that I am possibly sleepwalking but I can’t snap out of it. And yes, I have some stories of my own where I freaked out family and friends with my sleep walking.
