The sound of a singular note from HolyArk kept echoing through the room. Aion had recorded this holy tone a while ago and with the help of Yaiba he was able to set it as his notification sound. 

Only his bandmates ever texted him, therefore it could’ve only been them but Aion didn’t bother to look at his phone the first few minutes, too concentrated on writing the new song, a melody of darkness which should stay in people’s hearts forever as the most beautiful sound they had ever heard.

His focus was finally ripped away from his work after another melody sounded through the apartment. There was no way a god like him could work under these conditions...

“Doubles...?” If it was that dire he should go but on the other hand, this sounded dangerous. Then again, he couldn’t accept someone faking the holy power he, as a god, had!

Late Night

Blinking in confusion crimson eyes focused on Yaiba. “Illuminati..? What does that mean?” Admittedly the god often wasn’t able to find the meaning behind the things other said but this word, he had never heard before. Was it a saying he did not know, a common word, something that not many would use?

Would Crow make fun of him once more if he found out, should he have kept studying the way his parents had intended for him to do?

Random Sentence Starters

Love. What even was love? Aion was barely able to grasp the meaning of the most basic emotions and love was the worst, seemed like a puzzle that couldn’t be solved. Yet there Rom was, yelling at him about love, why did he even get angry? The lion wasn’t able to understand, he never had been before. People liked to get mad at him and at this point he had accepted it as his inability to communicate properly. Father screamed at him and most other people did too, maybe this was how people expressed love?

Gaze wandering to the ground, the lion didn’t know what he was supposed to respond. Usually when others acted like this he had done something wrong but as he didn’t understand what it was, he just avoided eye-contact, hoping that it would be over soon. 

He closed his eyes, hoping it would be over soon, he hated loud noises, they overwhelmed him relentlessly. At times like these it was especially bad with him just zoning out, mind in another place entirely, body shaking, him losing the control over the situation and himself. Where even was he, what had happened?

Encounters with Deities

The ground beneath him didn’t feel solid anymore, everything was shaking and Aion couldn’t tell if it was him or the world around him, neither was he able to think about it as his mind was a racing chaos that couldn’t be controlled. 

A joke, a joke, a jOkE. “A g-god like me won’t listen to the words of some unfaithful m-mortal--” He got cut off by his own heavy breathing, not able to speak any further, vision starting to become blurry, making him feel like nothing could hold him in place anymore. 

Aion was a god, right? A deity, something special, then why, why did it hurt so much when Crow, his bandmate, his friend, his family said those words to him? A true god couldn’t care less, a true god--

Late Night

Orbs widened in shock and disbelief as response to those words. Him, being there for her..? That..  was that this so-called sarcasm Crow and Rom sometimes talked about? Aion really wasn’t sure, he never understood it when it was used, neither did he get the theory behind it.

The only thing he knew was that he himself didn’t think this way. “But.. I... left you alone for so many years and even now I’m not able to face mother and father again. How could you say that, with what reasoning...?” Gratitude was the last thing he deserved.

                   “  Ailane !  ”   The lioness cuts off the thread, adding just a few stitches to the coat. It’s like she just made a brand new coat, her mother teaching her skills at a young talent finally seemed to pay the bills. However she can’t help but look at Aion’s tail… A long tail with a fluffy fur coat at it’s end. And looking up just over his hair, she can see the round cat ears. Something about this man feels odd… She can feel some sort of familiar connection to him and yet… the name Aion rings a bell.  Onii-chama ?    “  You’re a non-human too.  Are you also a lion ?  ”

Ailane, weird. This name sounds nice in his ears, familiar even and yet he is certain he’s never heard it before. Probably just one of those things you once saw in a book or heard in a movie - yeah, that was the only explanation he had as of now.

“Oh, yes I am.” Only now he fully realized that the girl in front of him who had stitched his coat with such ease was also a lion, not just any non-human but a lion, like him. For Aion this was the first time he saw another lion apart from his father and dear mother. Though he never got to meet her again after his parents divorced, his father wouldn’t allow it.

Crimson eyes wandering down to his new coat again, he couldn’t help the smile spreading on his lips. “Thank you, my outfit finally looks decent again. What can I do to thank you properly?”

* Injustice is a norm.  /  He knew when Aion was thinking of something, and often times the leopard would say a word or two to reassure his husband. But now he couldn’t– he knew if that kid is gonna get arrested he might have a record… perhaps even worse than just that. The interrogation room was both closed off to them after Rom spoke up against his boss’ injustice. Things only got violent in that room when it came to non-humans.

His laptop pings him about the hedgehog’s whereabouts. Rom grabs his jacket and keys, signaling Aion to get up from his chair.

❛  We’re goin’ now. This kid may be in danger   and I won’t let the forces catch him first.       ❜

The ping from the laptop and Aion knew they had to leave, now. Getting up he immediately put his hands into his pockets, checking if his taser was still there - just in case.

Quietly nodding when the leopard spoke up, he mentally prepared himself for the upcoming events which would probably drain him completely. He waited for Rom to go through the door first, a habbit he had picked up in his early childhood thanks to his father.

“We need to find him first, I don’t want to watch another person like us being treated unfairly..”

The injustice non-humans had to deal with each day and the certainty that his husband would be there with him were the reasons to stand up again every day. Someone had to fight this after all - if Aion really is the right person for this, he’s not so sure but his father seems to be..

When the girl called out to him and tugged on his coat, Aion nearly tripped and fell over, he just barely was able to keep himself from falling. After all he hadn’t expected someone to even talk to him, usually people would make him trip on purpose, call him names or even punch him. If he hadn’t seen the ears of the young child he might have just run away.

Through narrowed but gentle eyes he watches as she skillfully started sewing his ripped coat. “Aion... you?”

* Paperwork, so much paperwork.  /  Reports came flooding in every day, missing people, assault… all sorts of crimes. None of this was his business. All he had to do was review it and then move onto his actual job. Rom’s laptop was filled with all sorts of reports, but one stood out. Rarely ever does he get a request to arrest another non-human.

No pictures of this citizen, no information on their species. This felt oddly like a certain kid… Why does he feel like he knows this one ?? Crow, was that you ?

Leaning on the window sill, Aion was looking outside, watching the daily routine of the people walking on the street. A bird had caught his attention, flying around and once in a while stopping to rest on a branch before going back into the air. The lion watched it closely, passively listening to his husband, only nodding as answer to the first question.

“So somebody actually called the police on that kid... What will we do once we find him? After all the punishment for non-humans is worse even when a human commited the same crime...” Voicing this injustice which was going on in their system - especially as a detective - wasn’t something a supervisior would take without acting on it but right now it was just them, he could be truthful.

Still, it bothered him a lot and he hated that for one he had to stay quiet and for another he wouldn’t be able to speak up anyways. He barely managed to talk to others and Rom probably was the only person he could talk to without his usual posing. 

Straightening and turning to look at the leopard he spoke up once more. “When are we leaving?”

Tugs his shirt, looking up with sparkly eyes like a child. "Onii-chama, I found you!" She then goes in for a hug from the back and cuddles into him, giggling. "I missed you, you just disappeared one day..!"

His eyes widen as he hears her voice, lightning up a fire in his heart. “Ailane..” A smile finds its way to his lips. “Disappeared? A true god is never really gone, pray to me and have faith.” This is his way of saying that he will always be here for her, no matter what.
