Ok so!! Purly happened from when they were 15 to when they were 18 so a good three years. And then college….this causes problems and they always knew it would. So they come to a collective decision to seperate while pony is at college and they could just reconnect after the 4 years are up, they even agreed to write back and forth!!

the writing stuck for about two years, curly got busy with the gang, Ponyboy got busy with exams, yaknow how it is. They just kinda. Grew apart

Curly was twenty eight when he had Donna. The mom didn’t want her and left Donna in the care of her father and basically the rest is history.

until Ponyboy comes back, after 16 years. Of course pony has come and visit on holidays but he’s never stuck around long enough and curly never comes around when he knows pony is supposed to be there. Nowhody has told Ponyboy about Donna just because they know pony and curly have history and also just don’t feel it’s their place to tell.

anyways pony comes and announces…his marriage!! To Cathy!! Isn’t this awesome!!! Anyways pony also announces how him and Cathy are deciding to settle down Tulsa and everything!

eventually, after tons of pressuring, curly introduces Donna and Ponyboy. Pony takes it. Well. Or atleast on the outside he does. On the inside he realizes that curly has moved on and pony hasn’t. He married Cathy because it seemed the only thing he should do, not because he really wanted to.

but he steps up to the role as Donna’s uncle and tries not to let it show how much guilt he feels when looking at Donna.
