Certainly I can’t be the only one who’s ever wondered why Capcom specifically denotes a blood type for all major characters, so I decided to research it. Someone had left a comment on one of my posts a while ago essentially saying that blood types are treated sort of like horoscopes in Japan, so I wanted to look more into it and specifically what blood type meant what. In English, it’s referred to as the Blood Type Personality Theory. When looking at the descriptions for each blood type and comparing them to the characters it actually explains a lot. 

Leon’s blood type is given as A. From what I’ve read, type-As are generally regarded as being very kind, intelligent, detail-oriented, patient, and organized. However, they are also said to be very sensitive, easily hurt and stressed, anxious, and shy/withdrawn. 

Both of the Redfields are type-Os. They are described as possessing strong leadership abilities, being very outgoing, confident, easy-going, and ambition. The negative traits associated with O types are usually given as being workaholics, intimidating, and have difficulty expressing their emotions. 

Jill is said to be type-B. This type is characterized as very easy-going, curious, honest and truthful, optimistic, and outgoing. However, B types are also denoted as being somewhat erratic, uncooperative, and impulsive. 

Rebecca is type-AB. The positive traits associated with this one are creative, diplomatic, talented, outgoing (but less so than B), and eccentric. That being said, they’re also described as being impatient, forgetful, indecisive, and somewhat unpredictable. 

It seems like Capcom definitely took those traits into account when creating the characters and their personalities. All of them seem to fit very well, especially ones like the Redfields (mainly Chris) having difficulty expressing their emotions but having strong, natural leadership skills and Leon being both very sensitive and very detail-oriented.

CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE FACT CHRIS HAS HIS FINGER ON THE TRIGGER AND WESKER DOESN'T, AND NEITHER OF THEM SHOOT?! WHEN THE ENTIRE GAME COULD'VE ENDED RIGHT THERE?!

there's something so ridiculously intimate about admiring your captain who accepted you into the newly founded special tactics and rescue service (known as s.t.a.r.s) despite being discharged from the air force due to misconduct,, then having him study you and take notes on your abilities,,, make it known on numerous occasions how proud he is of you,, and then when his evil plan is revealed way later, instead of killing you he goes on a nerdy rant about how much he likes tyrants and gets impaled infront of you only to be revealed alive four games later and choke you in a leather suit

(also kind of crazy how his first line of dialogue was chris and his last word was also chris)

i streamed my first playthrough of separate ways with a friend and i pointed out how ada should have bigger arms, and that’s where this came from :^)
