          It had become almost impossible for her to differentiate between the coming and going of the various wolves from the Quileute pack -- their odor intermingled and she’d had less than no desire to spend enough time with them to tell one scent from another.   She had -- or so she thought -- gotten a look at each of them.  This one didn’t look familiar, which meant... what?  Had another of the men on the reservation turned?  Topaz hued gaze narrowed.   This one was dangerously close to the demarcation between the Cullens and the wolves.   “You do yourself and everyone else a favor and stay right where you are,” she warned, her words clipped unusually short.  She hated the dizzying lack of her second sight that the wolves’ snatched from her.  One heel tapped agitatedly against the ground for a moment.   “Stay,” she repeated, for good measure.

         She was, and not for the first time, grateful that her visions only showed what was to come, not what had been.  Alice had met human and vampire alike that shared his ... predilections -- they were still dealing with the aftermath of the destruction of the tracker that had nearly ended Bella with methods similar to the story this vampire had, for inexplicable reasons, decided she needed to hear.   Her lips were set primly, brows scrunched together ever so slightly, striving to maintain a passive expression as her mind wove the knot of potential futures in search of the one that would extricate her (intact) from his presence the soonest.   “Well.  I will say that certainly are as ... loquacious as advertised.”
