train/transportation machine terminology

- lugnut (referring to a very stubborn and incompetent person)

- 4-wheeler (a term specific to rail cars that refer to a very childish and immature person. derived from how smaller coaches and trucks only have four wheels)

- don’t get your wheels in a slip (train equivalent to “don’t lose your head”)

- choo choo (rude, derogatory term for a steam engine.)

- uncoupled (as shown in the show, is shorthand for being dumped)

- rusty wheel (term for someone who is being stubborn and will not be persuaded)

- set your parking brake (shorthand for “hold on, and think about this for a moment”)

- cattle truck (insult towards coaches on the lower end of the class hierarchy.)

- did your driver/engineer fall off your footplate? (teasing term for an engine who struggles making decisions on their own.)

- i hope the guard/conductor leaves the light on for you (taunt for any kind of rolling stock, indicating that the receiver is paranoid or cowardly)

- fusebox (insult used against electric engines. created, coined, and popularized by greaseball the diesel)

- sputtering (vehicle equivalent of stuttering)

- caboose (term indicating that the recipient of the insult is micromanaging, uptight, and a stickler for the rules, behaviors that are common in cabooses that make them “no fun to be around” in human terms: caboose essentially means “slowpoke loser”)

- scrap heap (really degrading term for any perceived “outdated” rolling stock)

- trackless (directionless)

- dump truck (insult directed towards freight cars)

- you would make for a very fine hotel/restaurant (about the worst possible thing to say to a railcar. it’s the equivalent of saying “you should kys NOW”)

- coming around the mountain (shorthand for “i’m almost there”)

- two toots of a whistle (phrase indicating that whatever action is taken will take less time than an engine blowing its whistle two times)

- follow wherever the rail takes you (equivalent to “go with the flow”)

- as stubborn as a jammed turntable (phrase speaks for itself)

- booger (referring to hydra. specifically, and only hydra.)
