ACTIVITY 13: DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION MYTHS
“The development process is a communication process.”
I agree with this statement, communication is needed so that the development is possible. Communication for Development is a social process that relies on discussion and employs a variety of instruments and strategies. Listening, creating trust, sharing knowledge and skills, developing policies, arguing, and learning are all part of the process of bringing about lasting and meaningful change.

ACTIVITY 12: DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION AND POLICY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stakeholder Matrix
Based on this analysis, a stakeholder communication matrix can be developed describing the following, in terms of each of the identified stakeholders:
• Key concerns.
• Existing communication methods (tools and channels).
• More effective communication methods.
• Key messages.
• Who can help.
It is possible to recognise general stakeholder groups in terms of these questions concerning their possible influence. These various stakeholders have different perceptions and concerns regarding a particular project or proposal, and this will influence how to communicate with them.

ACTIVITY 11: DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION PRACTICE
DEVELOPMENT JOURNALISM
A development journalist can speak for those who cannot by informing the rest of the world about important issues within developing nations. Looking at the strengths and weaknesses of a country may also help identify ways in which the nation can be helped.

ACTIVITY 10: FOUNDATIONS
1. ECONOMICS
In the field of economics, for instance, theorists such as Fritz Machlup, Marc Porat, and Meheroo Jussawalla have declared that predominant world economies have become information-based.
2. PSYCHOLOGY
In the transpersonal psychology of Abraham Maslow, self actualization is considered the goal of all human beings.
3. PHYSICS
Quantum physics, in particular, conceives the universe as an inter-connected web of relations.
4. BIOLOGY
“Evolution is being prompted not by standard devices of natural selection such as predation, food supply and biologically advantageous mutations, but by an in-crease in the efficiency of communication.”
5. CYBERNETICS
If we were to incorporate the systems concept of cybernetics into these arguments and apply these on a societal level, we may say that communication is critical for societal maintenance and survival.

Development Communication
By Veann L. Villaver
Development Communication is a driving force for change. Being able to grasp the importance of development in communication will assess the social problems in society because people will know the strength and weaknesses of societal problems. The strengths will be improvised and developed while the weaknesses will eventually be lessened and luckily they might become strengths.

ACTIVITY 8: RELATED CONCEPTS
Tumblr media
Convergence of Media
Media convergence refers to the merging of previously distinct media technologies and platforms through digitization and computer networking. This is also known as technological convergence. Media convergence is also a business strategy whereby communications companies integrate their ownership of different media properties. This is also called media consolidation, media concentration, or economic convergence.
Tumblr media
Cybernetics
Cybernetics is the science of control and communications in animals, including humankind, and machines. The study of cybernetics has been used in various ways since ancient times to attempt to explain and understand and manage the effective workings of all manner of systems - social, organizational, animal, mechanical, electronic, and others. As such, the cybernetics concept is immensely relevant to the modern development of management, and one's role and potential within systems of all kinds.
Tumblr media
Knowledge Management
Knowledge management seems to me to be process driven; a way of getting knowledge to permeate the business so that best practice is shared.  It can, although not always, be hierarchical.
Tumblr media
Mass vs. Interpersonal
Though all communication includes transmitting messages from a source to a receiver, interpersonal communication and mass communication differ in many ways. When a conversation is going on between two people – and sometimes a few people – interpersonal communication is occurring. This type of communication is more personal than mass communication, and feedback occurs often and right away.  As a result, communicating interpersonally makes it hard to be able to tell who is the source and who is the receiver.  Since interpersonal communication involves immediate feedback, this type of communication allows people to quickly determine similar and different cultures.
Tumblr media
Memetics
Memetics is the study of information and culture based on an analogy with Darwinian evolution. Proponents describe memetics as an approach to evolutionary models of cultural information transfer. Memetics describes how an idea can propagate successfully, but doesn't necessarily imply a concept is factual.

ACTIVITY 5.1 The Communication Process
☑️ A dog snarls at a cat that gets in its way
☑️ A traffic enforcer blows his whistle to stop traffic so children can cross the pedestrian lane.
☑️ A child stands in the middle of a crowded department store and cries for its mother.
☑️ A sportscaster tells jokes to the crowd while waiting for the action to begin at a basketball game.
☑️ A woman buys a newspaper, gets on the LRT, sits down, and reads on the way to work.
☑️ A street preacher shouts to the crowds in a marketplace.
☑️ A traffic light turns from red to green.
Tumblr media
ACTIVITY 5.2 Define Communication
Communication is the demonstration of giving, receiving, and sharing information. Talking or composing, and tuning in or writing. Good communicators listen cautiously, it is where exchanging thoughts happen. To have an understanding of communication the receiver must get the message clearly so that the flow of exchanging messages will take place.
Tumblr media
ACTIVITY 5.3 Communication is a Process. Why should be discussed?
“The Communication is a two-way process wherein the message in the form of ideas, thoughts, feelings, opinions is transmitted between two or more persons with the intent of creating a shared understanding.”
It should be discussed so that others will know where they are lacking and what more to be said clearly to be understood by your receivers. Communication happens in so many ways we don't seem to notice. It runs in so many processes as revealed that communication can be improved and interrupted by barriers.

3.1 The Hatching Process
Answers:
1. Because the "chick becomes more active and engages in a form of struggle to free itself from constraints."
2. The force comes from the chick inside the egg.
3. The chick won't have the opportunity "to develop its biological systems to the fullest."
4. "Needless to say, should someone try to break the shell before the chick has developed its capabilities, the chick’s developmental process would be aborted and impaired. In community development, a similar situation occurs. The community should be allowed to engage in self-activity and the development of attitudes, skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to meet its problems."
5. Science can determine the process from the unbroken egg until it began to hatch and they can also record the development of its strength, discover its abilities, and see the chick's potential against the realities of the outside world.
Tumblr media
3.2 The Moth and Development
Answers:
1. It is bad. He's interfering with the natural process of a supposedly developing moth.
2. If Pepito is the change agent and the moth is the society. Pepito is putting society at risk because he interfered the society's way of sustaining itself and the possible strong foundation it can create as the development continues.
3. If the development worker is the same as Pepito who does not have a full idea about the moth and how its natural course move as it develops. The worker has no idea how the farmer will be deprived by doing the farmer’s work rather than letting the farmer do his expertise.
4. Struggle and difficulties make the society give its best until eventually, it will reach its full potential, and then, in the long run, all parts of its system will know how important letting the development takes place for them to see its strengths and capabilities.
5. Trusting owns strengths and capabilities by letting the natural process takes place for greater development.
6. He told Pepito the right thing to do yet the greater damage can be avoided if he chose not to let Pepito take the cocoon and bring it home and, he is also responsible for the tragedy knowing that Pepito's age is not yet fully developed to absorb the full idea of development.
