She tilted her head as he looked her way, waiting for him to speak. When he did she couldn't help but to show a slight disappointment. Nothing new. She really shouldn't be surprised the way things had been going as of late.
Leota sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "Of course I am." She raised a brow. "We all are crammed into this one car, most of us have no idea what even has happened for all of this to happen. We are waiting for news. Any kind. Or at least a green light for us to go back to our own rooms."
The secrecy was getting old. The attitudes were getting older.
"Though it probably seems different from your side, no?"

He pressed his lips together, sucking in the sides of his cheeks as he looked down at the woman asking the question. He crossed his arms over his chest in a self-defensive manner, pulling in a breath before answering.
"Neither," he said decisively, because he had no good news to give, and wallflower? He wasn’t a wallflower. A wallflower wasn’t even a real flower. "I’m here to see how things are in this car. Join you guys for a bit, and all that." That wasn’t necessarily a lie. He was here to stay in the car, and he’d be telling Cal if anything fishy was going on.
"You waiting for something in particular?" He turned a question back on her, trying not to let the conversation linger too long on himself. He wasn’t getting into himself right now.

Her nails were ruined. It would be chaos trying to salvage them now. She'd just have to let them grow out again. With all this in mind she continued to chew them.
What was taking so long? Why couldn't this just be let go of? It was just some small thing that was stolen wasn't it? Was this really the means to operate such an overreaction?
Leota stared out the window, finally switching to chewing at the thumb of her right hand when she heard the door click open. Hers was one of the first heads to turn, eager for some sort of news, eager for maybe the end of all of this fuss. Instead she watched as a man, one of the security guards she recognized, was shut inside with the rest of them. Odd. Could this have something to do with how the two boys had returned earlier with broken noses? Someone had a temper...
"Are you here to give any good news or to be a wallflower?"

Being in the dining car now was uncomfortable. He felt like he stuck out like a sore thumb— he hadn’t been there the whole time, he’d been one of the interrogators, and of course, Calhoun had had to open the door to let him in, then lock it behind him.
He turned to glance at the door as it clicked shut, then looked back out over the room. It was right about now that he realized that being a security guard offered him a level of comfort the others probably didn’t have— that he didn’t have to worry about things going wrong for him, because he was one of the people who dealt with the trouble.
Now, he’d been temporarily stripped of that. It didn’t feel pleasant, and he couldn’t find anyone in the room who he’d be comfortable going over to yet. Oh boy.

"Sometimes smarts is what separates a person from life and death." She said this quietly, not particularly to either of them.
Leota chewed her lip as she thought about this. Would someone from the outside be able to get into the train? Yes. Undoubtedly. Most of the people here had initially been stowaways had they not? "People have snuck onto the train before, no? It is not impossible." Always in his car. "That...is true." She admitted, inclining her head slightly. "But he cannot always be there. If he was perhaps whatever has happened would not have happened." People were stupid, that was true, but someone from the outside would have a lot more bravery to steal from Scar than anyone who actually had met him.
She cracked a small smile, pointing towards John. "Listen to the tall one. He speaks the truth."
"Smarter then me" Barrel gave John a smirk. "But then again, everyone is smarter then me so don’t let it get to your head"
"Yes" Barrel said and pointed to Leota. "That makes sense, someone who’s not even part of the Carnival and we’re like leaving Norway so they totally got away with it" He nodded, happy with that conclusion. Barrel jumped to conclusions much too easily. It made things easier to just agree with someone else too, better then coming up with your own ideas. "Cause I’m an idiot but I’m not dumb enough to steal from Scar"
"I wasn’t even anywhere near the animal car though" Barrel lied, he had no clue where he’d set off the firework, he’d just set it up. "Besides it wasn’t like super loud or anything, Copper just likes to be cruel to poor kids with casts who can’t defend themselves" Yes, he’d had a cast at the time, but Barrel had been far from not being able to defend himself.

Listening to the two of them, she could say that John had the better point. What kind of person, criminal or no, would put their living situation on the line like this? She was no angel by far but she'd done things in the name of keeping her home well enough, not putting it right in front of a canon. Or in this case, a pack of mutts bred for blood. A criminal who knew anything about anything wouldn't just take something and then stick around.
Someone new. That made sense. But with the people around here it wasn't much to go on. "People come and go everyday. Who is to even say it was one of the staff? Why could it not have been someone on the outside? I cannot think of someone who would take something and be stupid enough to stick around for the consequences."
"Fireworks startle the animals." She said this simply, looking down at her nails. "It may be fun with people but you could have shocked one of the poor things into hysterics. Now that would be very bad for business I would assume." She shrugged her shoulders. "But maybe this Copper boy just likes watching people squirm. He seems the type."
"Well you must be super smart then" Barrel said and grabbed a pillow and let it fall on his face. There was never really a reason for Barrel to remember what he’d done the day before, either Shock or Lock had the important details covered, or there was just no reason to remember. Let alone remember a date a few weeks prior. "Have you seen the people here?" Barrel sat up and looked at John. "Half of the people here are criminals! I’m one of them!" He pointed at himself. "I mean, I didn’t do whatever it was that happened, but it’s honestly not that surprising" Barrel laid back down and dropped the pillow on his face again, lifting it up and dropping it. "I set it off under the train, it wasn’t like a big firework, like a firecracker that just flashed and popped. To freak people out, but he thought I started like World War Three or something" That was an overreaction on Barrel’s part.

She bristled a little. Now didn't seem the time for 'lightening up.' People were being threatened with maulings. Maybe worse. Her yes watched the both of them, listening to the exchange. "It will not be a surprise if most people here do not have an alibi." The people here worked by routine. Having an alibi conveniently for such an ordinary night in question would be difficult to prove. Even she couldn't be sure that her roommate would vouch for her. "Who would have thought they would train dogs for such a thing here?" She sighed. "Well I would suggest you get comfortable. I do not think they are going to do any room service."
"Hey, I’m lightened up," he protested. He usually was pretty light, even in grim situations. Maybe he was out of practice. He blinked when he was pointed to. "Me? I didn’t know I needed an alibi to shower." He sighed, and scractched the back of his neck. "Fair enough though. I’ve been arrested enough times to know that not having an alibi sticks you. And yeah, the dogs were a bit… much. I don’t know what’s going on."

She lightly rolled her eyes. "If anyone dies it will be because of your attempt at jokes." They'd already been questioned. What more did they want from them? "What? The dogs were not enough?"
Forever. We’re gonna die in here.

Leota stood by, watching, her weight shifted to one side. As the girl spoke she followed the direction she pointed towards with her eyes, a puzzled expression crossing her face. Balance...in the sky? Did she mean a tightrope? "If things were easy at first it would not be as fun mastering them." Leota cast her eyes to the girl's feet as she walked; things didn't look too steady. At the sudden slip, she instinctively took a step forward as if to help her but paused seeing that she wasn't hurt. She covered up a small laugh with her hand, clicking her tongue. "Aah, maybe next time you will listen to the fortune teller, si?" She teased, smiling at her. "Are you alright?"
