Pronouns She/Her/Hey/You Getting older slowly (1960's), born odd, and didn't fit in as a young child. Kept my feelings quiet as a child for fear of being sent to an asylum or a prison. I Later found out it is called trans and that I wasn't the only person on the planet like me. And that was long before the internet. So I still had no one to talk to about trans. Society thought it was a medical condition. I thought society had the condition and not me and that was my dysphoria, my non conformity. Fighting the stupid bigotry in society to make a little space for me to be myself and also to enjoy all parts of life and not focus only on trans (and for others to have that freedom too).

Blindly trusting is a bad as any faith. That is why we should educate ourselves to ask sensible questions and understand the answers.
But a blanket ban on accepting all expertise ? That is a conviction without base - i.e. a faith.

Good research happening.
"A patient with type 1 diabetes has become the first in the world to produce his own insulin via transplanted cells edited with CRISPR.
The edits halted his own immune system from attacking the cells, leading to production of insulin in the pancreas as if he never had the disease in the first place.
Unlike the rampant type 2 diabetes, type 1 manifests as an autoimmune disorder whereby the patient’s immune system attacks and destroys a type of cell created in the pancreas to produce insulin, known as islet cells. 9.5 million people worldwide suffer from type 1 diabetes and there is no cure.
The standard of care beyond daily insulin injections involves using donated islet cells to allow a patient’s metabolism to function normally, followed by medications used to prevent the immune system from attacking those cells. These medications have harmful side effects.
A team of biomedical researchers primarily from Uppsala University, Sweden, in collaboration with UC San Francisco, successfully used the CRISPR gene-editing method to take a donor’s islet cells and modify them so as to evade prosecution by the patient’s immune system.
Three changes in total to the genetic code were needed to ensure the transplanted donor cells didn’t trigger an immune response, including changes to cell membrane signal proteins used as a sign of attack by white blood cells.
CRISPR TO THE RESCUE:
Infant With Incurable Disease is First to Successfully Receive Personalized Gene Therapy Treatment
Aggressive Leukemia Disappears in 13-Year-old Girl Who was First to Receive New CRISPR Treatment
First Patient to Receive Gene Therapy ‘Cure’ for Beta-Thalassemia Living Pain-Free
As a preliminary study, the man received only a small amount of the donated, modified cells, meaning he still requires daily insulin injections. However the results show that the cells produced their own insulin and remained unperturbed by the immune system.
After 12 weeks, the cells were still producing endogenous insulin, setting the stage for longer-term and more robust experiments in the future.
The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine."

Well, if you put it like that, it does seem pretty stupid.
What a xenophobe.

Ever thought about Jesus turning the other cheek ? In another light that could be interpreted as insolence. Go on, hit me again. Was he a really just a meek victim of the Romans or a protestor planning his actions ? When he arrived on a donkey and the people threw flower petals before him, was that just sweet and humble or was it mocking how the Romans held their victory parades ? And what does the Church want everyone to think ?
Or the Boston tea party. They weren't protesting about tariffs. They just used that as a reason to protest at British rule and gain sympathy for their cause. Doesn't seem so noble then.
Civil disobedience is always planned. That's the "dis-."
You guys are all aware that they trained people for those civil rights protests, right? That the people doing sit ins had to be trained to keep their cool as white people screamed invectives and pouring drinks on them? It was a very organized operation.

The propaganda started early on. The maga was taught that the dems would cry fascism and dictatorship and that is what is happening. They were taught that the dems will be lying to them. It is a framing so that people consume the news differently, building into the frame they understand. They believe that what is happening is ok and all just smoke and mirrors. It is like the frog in hot water trope.
How to stop it ? keep on explaining how things are affecting them negatively. Make them need to reevaluate.
"You can force a rep to listen but you can't make him think."
Understand the stakes.

An excellent investment in educating MAGA.
Cheap at twice the price.

A federal judge has ordered Florida to shut down "Alligator Alcatraz," after the state spent a staggering $218M to build the now-vacant detention camp.
Closing it will run taxpayers another $20M.
An utterly cruel and costly waste.

Thought provoking.

Imagine living so close to nature that the sky itself has a voice. 🌌
When author Laurens van der Post lived among the Bushmen of the Kalahari, they once asked him: “Why can’t you hear the stars?”
When he admitted he could not, they pitied him. To them, being cut off from the sounds of nature wasn’t just unusual—it was a sign of deep spiritual illness.
Think about that. For most of human history, people treated rivers, winds, animals, and stars as companions, not objects. The world was alive, speaking, singing.
Today ?

This will happen more and more. The only solution is real life meetups. Dropping online chats will make people anonymous to the tech bros and the governments. Imagine the shit storm by boycotting all social media for just one day.
well. it happened. i got flagged as a minor on my channel where i post disability related stuff (despite being a grown ass adult.)

I knew this was going to happen. I knew this was going to disproportionally target disabled people. I knew it from the moment this fuck ass shit was announced. I can’t help but feel so vindicated, but still so angry.
fuck censorship, and fuck surveillance. fuck all of this being under the guise of protecting minors. how such horrific violations of privacy are becoming a reality is scary. this is not okay. never shut up about this kind of thing.
