23rd November
oh boy there’s sortof a lot to do because I’ve been sick and stuff. But. Housemate comes back tomorrow so I gotta clean the house.
- Wanikani - Physio - google how to sterilize mooncup - deal with gross pan in kitchen - fill dishwasher - find where I left off on Psychotropic Plants course I hope that seems reasonable. It seems more reasonable than what I said to myself yesterday!! I’m getting better at chopping goals into small pieces and not expecting to do a big piece all at once.

Provisional to-do list: - go to Dr - go to meditation - clean kitchen - fill dishwasher - wanikani - physio - apply for jobs Maybe? I’ll cull something if I’m not feeling well in the morning. Maybe just do a shitty job of the kitchen and fill the dishwasher and apply for, like, one job.

Iiiiiiii don’t know how to prioritise or keep goals reasonable but let’s:
- tidy kitchen - put on dishwasher - do physio - wanikani - shower - laundry - take laptop to Alice + Katie’s to work on psychotropic plants course That’s in approximate priority order. I could also apply for some jobs, that’d work.

how have i never heard of archive.org until today.. it’s an internet library that functions just like a real one, as in you borrow the books for 2 weeks and then they are returned to the archive. you can dl pdfs as well, but you’ll lose access after the 2 week period. it’s all free tho, literally just like a real library. i was searching for a cheap copy of this serial murder book from the 90s for my thesis and i found it for free on here. there’s like.. no gimmick at all? i’m so amazed. i literally just signed up and now i’m reading a super hq scan of this book for free. i love libraries.

New Goals
Moving on from my update on my old goals, I’ve got some new ones.
Apply for jobs daily on weekdays
I’m not super fussed if I don’t get a job immediately, I’m not going to starve, but I do want to progress slowly with this one. Enough applications and someone should hire me...right?
Complete Psychotropic Plants course
I’m studying a Psychotropic Plants course (from a medicine perspective) and, obviously, I’d like to keep doing it until I’m finished! I’m really enjoying it and learning loads about the nervous system.
Go to Martial Arts and Swimming
I’ve got my martial arts class twice a week and a friend to go swimming with once a week, so that really keeps my exercise up about as much as I can with my current health. I’m really pleased to be able to do this much - living right on a bus route is so helpful.
Continue Studying Japanese
Pretty obvious, this one. I’m level 6 on Wanikani and level 16 is a pretty obvious milestone - by then you’ve got all the N5 kanji, all but like 2 of the N4 and 50% of the N3, which will put me in an excellent spot to really pick up reading again. Continuing with jpod101 Pathway To Advanced Japanese, which feels comfortably at my level, to progress my listening plus as much tv etc as I can manage.
Physio
Honestly with my physical body being not-so-much-of-a-disaster as far as, like, muscles and bones go this one might have to take a back seat for a while, but I’ve been working hard on it for months so that’s okay. Going to do as much as I can though. I’ll revisit this if/when I get some sort of answer from the Dr.

Update on Goals
I’m back, and I’m updating my old priority list
The Old List
- tackle my mental health - tackle my physical health - acquire money to live - make plans to move to Birmingham - continue learning Japanese, take JLPT N3 - progress meditation and martial arts training “Make plans to move to Birmingham” is...done. I moved. I live in Birmingham now and I’m therefore way ahead of schedule. Go me! “Progress meditation and martial arts training” is sortof taking care of itself. My wonderful housemate gives me a lift to my martial arts classes and I’m about to start going to meditation classes at the Buddhist Centre. “Tackle my mental health” has gone better than expected because being back in Birmingham is making me a LOT happier. I’m still prone to despair cycles when things go wrong but other than that (and the ADHD) I’m....mostly fine? “Acquire money to live” is fixed at least in the short term; I’m on Universal Credit and applying to jobs and for now I can afford cheap/basic stuff plus a few other things like my classes and swimming. “Tackle my physical health” - whew. WHEW. It’s in progress. Currently beating down my Dr’s door trying to pursue that. We have no idea what’s wrong with me yet, sob. Currently waiting on test results. I *really* don’t think it’s just chronic fatigue, not with the weird heart symptoms and salt cravings. But at least it’s happening. I’m just...trying not to worry too much. On the other hand, my knees are feeling better post-physio, so I’ve been doing some other physio + exercise whenever I have time and energy. I’m being set back by health stuff but it seems to be slowly going somewhere.
“Continue learning Japanese” well there was like a 4 week break while I moved house but I’m back on the horse now, learning kanji through Wanikani and picking up new vocab with japanesepod101′s “Pathway To Advanced Japanese” podcast series.

All unpacked and settled into the new place!!! Sat down and took some time to get my bearings, plan my month out, and figure out what to do now that I have so much of my brain space freed up to think about something other than moving. It’s gonna be a fun month!!! 😊 I’ve got a lot to do! #transformationtueday #bulletjournal #setupforsuccess #planning #journaling #goals #monthlyplanner #monthlyspread https://www.instagram.com/p/BnVGAwuBIRJ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=s6zol8xwenhl

Brief Update
So er I may have had a pretty....difficult week.
I’m gonna start again tomorrow with bujo style posts: they’re gonna be pretty basic tho because I sortof feel like I’ve been through some kind of horrible storm and have been spat out on a beach, battered and wet and exhausted. Anyway.

Does anybody have any recommendations on what to do for listening practice for JLPT, specifically N2? Listening is by far my weakest and I’m really worried about passing all other parts but failing because my listening skills aren’t good enough

23rd August
The last few days have sucked. Tl;dr went through a breakup, read a lot of fanfic, somehow managed to get the odd thing done. Today I: - went to iTalki lesson with my wonderful teacher Mizuki - Started making some lists in Remember The Milk - did some ashtanga yoga now I’ve discovered it helps my joints - completed my wanikani reps Gonna go do my knee physio and go to bed. Feeling pretty good about that.
#self improvement#bujo#langblr#studyblr#is it still a studyblr when the thing I'm organising is my whole life

ASKING ABOUT JAPANESE (IN JAPANESE)
****If there are corrections or additions I should make to this list, please send me a message!****
So I just started using HelloTalk for Japanese, and found out pretty quickly that asking people to help you IN Japanese gets you MUCH better answers so long as you’re up to the challenge of figuring out slightly more complicated explanations! Here are some ways to do that:
THINGS TO ASK
Can I ask you a question?
What does “_____” mean?
Could you please correct my sentences/check them for errors?
What is the difference between “__” and “__”?
Which one sounds more natural?
What kind of situation should I use it in?
Is there another way to say it?
How would you say it?
Do people normally use this word/phrase?
How do I use (this word/phrase)
Is it similar to/Is it like “_____,” for example?
AND IF U DIDNT REALLY GET THEIR CORRECTIONS/COMMENTS:
I’m sorry, I didn’t really understand “_____.” Could you explain it to me?
I’m sorry, would you mind explaining your corrections?
OTHER TIPS
Say thank you afterward!
The sentences above are mostly starting points. The more you talk to people, the more you’ll notice how people ask things like “Oh, can you explain that thing on the bottom?” or “So it’s okay if I say this instead of this?” etc. etc. But these sentences will help you get on your feet!
What I sometimes like to do if they’re using really complicated Japanese to explain to me, it try to explain it in my own words and then add っていうことですか? to find out if I’m understanding right!
Challenge yourself by answering Japanese-speakers’s questions in Japanese! You’d be surprised how much you can learn about explaining just by reading explanations!
Good luck! Please let me know if you have any questions! <3
