I unlocked mounts and am currently on the fence on whether Walking Simulator should use them. You can /walk mounts so it feels right, but on the other hand she isn't doing the walking. For now I will mount, but I might change my mind later? How dedicated to the bit do I want to be is the real question

First pic: this person was just. rotating in space in the weirdest corner of Thanalan. Why? Who knows
Second pic: Extremely niche dedicated RPers are my favorite, and the best part of playing on different servers is seeing which are the city-states' standard. Drowned Corpse I'm love you

Day 1 screenshot dump of some moments that made me stop and realize that huh, ARR really is pretty.

I moved my mains to Dynamis ages ago and forgot how busy the cities are on the other data centers. It was nice to listen to this bard for a bit before bracing myself for my first jaunt outside Gridania.

The first of many people to notice, haha. I ran into Arthyr a few times the first day, and he always /walked with me for a minute or so before taking off again. A few other people did this, tossed an emote or two my way, or just stopped for a second to watch me go by. I didn't get a screenshot of it, but someone even whispered me and gave me a bottle of Realm Reborn Red!

This guy and his friend ran into me outside Sastasha and gave me some /hugs, then gave twice as many delighted emotes when we ran into each other again in Limsa. It's really charming how excited people get when they see an absurdly named character doing the absurd thing. I think I'm beginning to get why there's so many silly AFKers.
(Yes, I duty trusted and walked Sastasha, Tam-Tara, and Copperbell. Each one took over 20 minutes. I intend to do as much of the MSQ this way as possible, though obvs not the group content I can't solo. The bit's no longer funny when it makes the healers work harder than they have to. We'll see if I keep walking through boss fights as the difficulty increases, haha.)

Say hello to Walking Simulator: an exercise in committing to the bit and an opportunity to stop and smell the roses.
So I got this daft idea of playing FFXIV in walk-only mode, and once I started I found myself not only taking my usual plethora of screenshots but wanting to chronicle the journey as well. There's a lot of beauty in ARR that I've forgotten about, or have simply gotten into the habit of speeding right by on flying mounts.
For a bit of extra fun I randomized Walking Simulator's race, appearance, and job (BOY am I grateful I got a ranged job). She'll be hrothgal'd as soon as Dawntrail hits because of course she will be, but I'm enjoying my time as a thighlander for now. I didn't like the hairstyle or makeup I started with, so once I unlocked the Aesthetician I made some minor changes.
I don't know how far I'll take this, but one step at a time is kind of the whole point!
Total Playtime as of 2nd screenshot: 8 hours. MSQ: The Scions of the Seventh Dawn
