“Come on, it’s New Year’s Eve, you can’t spend the whole party hiding in the bathroom!”

                   “Tell me lies, tell me lies, tell me SWEET little lies!” Lexa had never claimed to be a soloist ------------ her voice was far from standards, but that didn’t change the fact that she LOVED singing. And she did so raucously, dancing carefree around her kitchen, headphones wedged firm in her ear. Thus, as she executed a particularly  e x c e l l e n t  twirl --- if she did say so herself --- the brunette screeched, nearly dropping the pot of macaroni noodles in her hand when she noticed Bellamy, standing with one shoulder pressed against the doorjam --------- SMIRKING like he just won the god damn lottery. 

“JESUS, Bell!! You scared the  F U C K  out of me,” lexa exclaimed, ripping her headphones out of her ears. The pot safely settled onto the countertop, and lexa hopped across the tile to smack her best friend firmly on the shoulder. “What happened to EMERGENCIES!”

The nightblood’s head was doubtlessly  F I L L E D  with grand notions of power and glory ------------ she had no idea she was nothing more than a pawn.

“ is this a joke to you — ?!”

                     it’s a BITTER laugh, almost scornful. the glassy tint in her own eyes is mocking her, a betrayal of her own body, and she can only feel the welling even more. it’s a cosmic joke. “you know, i asked myself the same thing,” the brunette SCOFFS, curls rustling as her head shakes. “what is this to you, huh?” the words are harsh, her voice rattling hoarsely, “some little REVENGE scheme?” 

it burned, the scratch in her throat. a testament to her weakness. she DESPISED it, but not more so than the stoic take on octavia’s features. the worst kind of betrayal, worse still than the betrayal to herself. “so that’s it, huh? the end of it? just because YOU say so?”
