you know how sometimes characters won't sleep with the person they love because they know it would just be meaningless fun to the other person and since they can't have everything they'd rather have nothing?

i think dean and cas are both the complete opposite of that. they would take every single scrap they could get, even knowing it would hurt more in the long run. dean would suggest a friends-with-benefits thing when cas became human and cas would agree in a heartbeat. it would be sad and awful and toxic for both of them and they'd still keep it up for literal years, never, ever talking about it because they'd both be too afraid of the other putting a stop to it

One of my favorite kinda fanon Destiel things is that they both think the other is cute

Castiel looks at this outwardly confident human who is essentially an ant to him and says “I will do anything he asks of me :) aw look he’s praying for me I better get down there.” Same vibe as a cat owner who is in the middle of a task pausing because their cat is yelling at their feet for food

Dean repeatedly calls Castiel nicknames to imply he’s just a little guy. “Nerdy little dude with wings” “baby in a trench coat” “weird dorky guy”. Castiel’s vessel is like Regular Dude Size. His angel form is bigger than human comprehension allows. He either doesn’t comprehend what Castiel is capable of or doesn’t care. It’s probably the latter.

Castiel is like, “I have been alive since before Earth and will likely exist once it and you are gone.” And Dean’s like, “Cool do you wanna watch a movie with me.” And the crazy part is that Castiel ALWAYS says “Yes :)”
