Wally, despite the fact he can be smart—when he wants to be—has heard that statement all his life.

Especially today.

And especially from you. you, the resident oddball, the most gorgeous girl he’d ever seen, was tell him he was an idiot.

That was humbling. Especially since you’ve been caught, multiple times, crying as you ate apple pie filling from the can.

Understandable, though. College has been tough on everyone.

But, today was just….humbling for the speedster.

He can be a certified genius, a physics prodigy at his college—and instead of utilizing that—he broke his leg trying to impress you.

The kicker? You didn’t even know he was trying to impress you.

So this broken bone that’s probably going to take him about an hour to heal—speedster healing can be truly amazing—was for nothing.

Nothing!

Dicks laughing at him, everyone else sighed, Artemis didn’t even hesitate in calling him a dumbass—and you, pretty you, just thinks he overestimated himself.

All he had tried to do?

Well, you said Dick’s circus freak flip was cool and amazing—and Wally thought it would be easy! He’s seen Dick pull it off multiple times, it shouldn’t have been hard.

Till you, Dick, and M’gann—and Wally doesn’t have a problem with M’gann, she’s been trying to get the two of you together—heard the snap.

The bright side about all of this? You didn’t even hesitate—you ran towards him and picked him up bridal style and took him to Red Tornado.

That was the highlight of it all.

Because he got to see you up close, furrowed brows, lip bite—he could even see your nose twitch like it did when you were worried or upset.

And, since you never initiated physical affection—Wally didn’t hesitate to relish in it.

Sure, today was humbling.

But you carried him, and you’ve been by his bedside all day—feeding him snacks and playing card games with him.

Dinah even tried to train with you—and you asked to stay and keep an eye on him.

Wally did his best not to giggle like some schoolgirl.

In fact, despite being humbled so horribly—and Dick having it on camera, and he could definitely hear Conner snicker in the background—he’s having the time of his life.

‘is it wrong to hope my leg doesn’t heal?’ he thought to himself, as he watched you laugh at your phone, with your head on his shoulder.

‘Yes, Wally. But fair.’

Wally froze.

Damn it. M’gann’s a telepath.

Well, at least she’s making dinner. Since you offered to stay the night with him.

‘M’gann, you’re the best wingman a guy could have.’

‘mhm. Now arm around her shoulder, idiot.’

Damn it.

But he can’t really complain when you snuggle closer. And he doesn’t say anything when he can see the rest of the team peeking in on the two of you from time to time.

Because right now, in this infirmary? It’s just the two of you, curled up, and watching stupid TikTok.

Three weeks.

That’s how long you’ve been dating Wally West. Three weeks of coffee dates, late-night calls, his ridiculous snack combinations, and him showing up at your door like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Three weeks of holding hands, sitting way too close, and him almost kissing you about a dozen times.

And in all that time?

One kiss.

A single, blink-and-you-miss-it peck in a drive-through.

So when he strolls into your room tonight, tossing his bag of chips onto your bed and launching into some animated story about a guy walking a parrot, you decide you’re done waiting.

“…and I’m telling you, this bird was massive, like superhero-sidekick massive—”

He loves talking. He loves telling you every little thing he did on the day, how he saved the day as a superhero. And you love listening to him, you really love the sound of his voice, how fast he talks and how he stutters if you cuddle with him while he’s mid-story.

But tonight, you’ve had enough.

“Wally,” you cut in.

“Yeah?” He’s still mid-gesture, hands flailing like he’s explaining a police chase.

You grab his hoodie and shove him back against your pillows, climbing onto his lap before he can even blink.

“Oh! Oh wow. Okay. This is— uh, wow. Wait, are you mad? You seem like you might be mad. Not that I’m— uh complaining if you’re not mad. Unless you are mad. In which case, uh—”

You silence him with your mouth.

The kiss lands hard, hungry. He freezes for half a second, startled, and then his lips move under yours, tentative and clumsy, like he’s terrified of messing it up. You fist your hand in his hair and angle his head, deepening it until he makes a strangled little sound in the back of his throat that sends heat pooling low in your stomach.

When you finally pull back, his face is flushed, his eyes wide, lips parted. “Okay, um, hi. That was… wow. And unexpected. Like, I knew you were intense but—”

You swallow his words with another kiss, this one slower, your tongue slipping past his lips.

“—yep, okay, shutting up now—” he manages to mumble against you, and then you take him apart completely, coaxing his tongue with yours until he whimpers and melts under you.

He’s not even touching you, his hands just hover awkwardly at his sides like he doesn’t know what’s allowed. You grab his wrists, press them firmly to your hips, and only then does he dare squeeze, his thumbs brushing little circles against your sides like he can’t believe you’re letting him.

“Okay, yep, hands here, got it,” he breathes against your mouth, dazed. “Oh wow, oh! Your hair smells really nice, by the way. So soft—”

You groan into his mouth, half laughing, half wanting to throttle him, but it just makes you kiss him harder. He kisses back now with more urgency, messy and unpracticed but eager, his mouth opening under yours like he’s been starving for this.

“Mm, you’re— wow, this is kinda terrifying,” he pants between kisses, “but, like, in the hottest way possible— oh, god, do that again—”

You roll your hips against him without warning, and his breath hitches so sharply you feel it more than hear it. His fingers clutch at your waist like he’s grounding himself, but you can feel him trembling beneath you.

“Ohmygod— uh, sorry— didn’t mean to— well, I did mean to, but not like—”

“Wally.”

His pupils are blown, lips swollen, chest rising and falling like he’s just run a marathon. “Yeah?”

“Shut. Up.”

And this time, he does.

For about ten seconds.

Then, in a breathless rush between kisses: “Okay, but just so you know, this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Like, ever. Top three at least. Probably number one. Yep— definitely number one. Oh my god—”

You bite his lower lip and he groans, an honest-to-god groan, surprised and desperate. You feel him pull you closer at last, hands steadying, kissing you like he’s finally found his rhythm.

By the time you break apart, he’s a wreck. Hair a mess, hoodie rumpled, lips red and wet, his chest still heaving. He’s staring at you like you just flipped his entire world upside down.

“Practice makes perfect,” you tease, brushing his hair back from his forehead.

He grins, flushed and breathless. “Then I’m never skipping practice again.”
