This morning's surface map reveals a wavy front stretching from the Mid-Atlantic states back into the Central Plains. This front has remained largely stationary for the past couple of days, creating conditions for thunderstorms to form along it, some of which have produced heavy rainfall and strong winds, leading to flash flooding. Additionally, a backdoor cold front has moved through the Mid-Atlantic, bringing cooler temperatures in the 70s to major cities from New York City down to Baltimore and Washington, D.C., although warmer weather is expected to return tomorrow. Meanwhile, hot conditions will prevail across much of the plains, extending into the Tennessee Valley, the South, and the Ohio Valley today, while the western regions will enjoy dry and sunny weather. ☀️🌧️ #WeatherUpdate #Thunderstorms #FlashFlooding #ColdFront #MidAtlantic #CentralPlains #CoolerTemperatures #HeavyRainfall #NYC #Baltimore #WashingtonDC #HotConditions #TennesseeValley #SunnyWeather #OhioValley #WeatherForecast ☀️🌧️

The heat dome is expected to begin dissipating over the next few days as thunderstorms increase across the eastern United States. The extreme temperatures are set to ease, returning to more typical summer levels. By next week, we can anticipate a more standard summer weather pattern in the eastern region. Thunderstorms are forecasted today along a front stretching from the Northeast to the Plains, with the most intense storms likely in the Midwest and Southeast. The scorching temperatures will persist across much of the eastern region today. Once again, we can expect highs reaching the 90s and even hitting the low 100s in major cities. With elevated humidity levels, this will lead to dangerously high heat indices. If you plan to venture outdoors, make sure to stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion or cramps. Thunderstorms are forecasted along the cold front that will sweep across the Great Lakes into the Central Plains today. The most intense storms are likely in the High Plains areas of Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming, where damaging winds, hail, and possibly a few tornadoes could occur. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of New Mexico, leading to flash flooding through tomorrow. Much of the Midwest and upper Midwest into the western Great Lakes will also experience heavy rains from today into Thursday, which may cause minor flooding issues. Meanwhile, the western U.S. will enjoy sunny and warm weather today! ☀️🌧️ #WeatherUpdate #StaySafe #ScorchingHeat #StayHydrated #HeatIndex #Thunderstorms #ColdFront #SevereWeather #HighPlains #FlashFlooding #WeatherAlert #MidwestRain #SunnyWeather ☀️🌧️
