For this Tumblr post, I chose an item that definitely exhibits a more romantic design rather than an orientalist design. My planner is from a very current and classic brand, however the backbone of the design is more floral and whimsical and gentle, giving the idea that it is more romantic than orientalist.

Tumblr post - 03.25

Here is a picture of the Providence City Hall building. For another one of my classes, I am required to go into Providence a few times a week. This has quickly become a personal landmark, as I’m able to tell where I am in relation to this building. The style of this building has been influenced by the Classism influence of architecture. The Romans and Greeks also used similar styles of architecture, and when creating many of the buildings in America, the creators took their style into consideration as an inspiration.

Tumblr Assignment - Cultural Identification

My cultural identification does rely on design. It relies on design because of the way it is interpreted and viewed by myself and others. Products that display a certain place to which others belong to attribute to identification. Additionally certain styles of clothes that I wear contribute to this same matter. Specific significant elements that allow for this identification are the way clothing and items are made and the manner in which they are used.

The stickers on my laptop case are two-dimensional. If these stickers were to be changed into three-dimensional objects, it would have to be done carefully. The stickers of people would change, as the features and accessories would become more realistic. The colors and patterns would need to changed carefully.

This is an example of #GoodDesign. This is a metal water bottle that is definitely more environmentally friendly than other things such as plastic water bottles. This bottle is designed with two colors that are eye-catching. Additionally, the bottle keeps water cold which is a benefit to the user. Overall this bottle checks all of the boxes for a good design.

This is an example of bad design. The cups from popular coffee chain “Dunkin’ Donuts” offer an opportunity to change their cups for the better. The cup is a bad design because of the graphic print that does not cover the entire cup and the pattern of the pink and orange is not consistent . Additionally, the cup is by no means environmentally friendly.
