For. Ever. For 20 years since FUTCT came out, people noticed a difference in the sung lyrics and the lyrics sheet.

Sugar is a queer song anyway--"sleeping in or sleeping for the wrong team", e.g.--but people noticed that Patrick sings

"watching you two from the closet wishing to be the friction in your jeans"

(which. From the closet. Yes yes.)

But the lyrics sheet has the line as:

"wishing to be the friction in HIS jeans"

Which!!!!! Is!!!!! Mmmm!!!!!!!!!

Everyone assumed "his jeans" was the original line and someone made them change it--the label, probably--because it was the oughts and homophobia was just. Like That.

But no.

Pete changed the lyrics *to be more overtly queer.* It doesn't matter what Patrick mumble-sang, Pete fixed it in post in the lyrics sheet. Nobody took that away from him or tried to hide it--he put it in what he considered to be the most important place. He said what he really meant.
