Why: I really don't know why, I randomly found one of his tiktoks here on tumblr and I thought that it was the greatest thing, and then that went on to me searching for every tiktok of him I could find because I just loved them so much, he just looks so cute. I have probably watched this tiktok like at least 30 times already, this one is probably my favorite one😁😃

A Harmless Mistake ♡ Jung Hoseok

Summary: In which you summon a demon, the problem is there's no way you can send him back

Note: Based on this ask here (Sorry it took longer than expected. I don't really do that well with fantasy related topics so this was a bit trickier to write. But hope you still like it)

This wasn't meant to happen. Surely a simple potion spell could be mixed up with a summoning spell. How were you meant to know that messing up just the slightest word could cause such a drastic burden to fall upon you.

You stood in front of the ensemble of coloured liquids, all harmless in this state yet deadly when meddled with in the hands of an inexperienced person. In your own hands. Rather than waiting to be taught the uses of the potion ingredients, you took it upon yourself to be self taught the work of witchcraft. After all, those with power should be able to teach themselves when necessary.

In your state of panic, smoke emitted from the cauldron containing the mixture, clouding your vision from the figure that would be soon approaching.

Red smoke.

Red had been the colour you had been anticipating. The colour was indicative of the least humane from all of creation. A demon. And a powerful one at that. Hadn't it been for your curiosity this wouldn't have happened. You mentally cursed your foolishness, your pride leading you astray from your initial intentions.

But you had no chance to ponder over that anymore. You had a bigger issue at hand, one that could be the means of your survival or death.

Panic-stricken and fearful of your fate, you clutched your hands onto your ears, blocking your sense of hearing. Although it wouldn't make any difference, it lead you into a slight sense of security.

To put it simply, you has been hopeless, nothing would take you out of this situation so you were to face your own consequences.

Amongst the vast amount of destruction around the room, the figure had emerged.

"H-Hello" you asked, cursing the weakness of your voice. You'd been a target, and a helpless one at that.

"Hm?" was the only sound that escaped the mouth of the person in front of you, but although he had adopted a human form, he was still as inhumane as ever. You studied his appearence. It was nothing out of the ordinary, raven hair, dark eyes and a wide smile plastered on his face which would have been comforting but hadn't due to the way he hd entered.

"Um. Who are you?" you asked, still hunched over in a corner which after coming to the realisation of you stood up to appear less intimidated.

"Jung Hoseok. Or just Hoseok would do. So what brings me here? It's not every day I get summoned by any random human" he asked sarcasm apparent in his tone.

"I'm not just a human. I'm a witch in fact. I apologise for the inconvenience. This wasn't meant to happen" you said fumbling through the pages of the book.

You found out that the page of the book had been mixed up. How could you be so foolish? Of all other spells to mess it up with it had to be a summoning spell. And out of all spells, why had this one been so simple to perform. You always expected summoning spells to be more difficult.

"It wasn't? Well I was meant to be relying on you to get me back. But you couldn't even do a simple summoning spell right. Tell me, who were you trying to get here in the first place" he asked, standing directly in front of you, arms crossed almost menacingly.

"Nobody. I mixed it up. I wasn't even meant to bring anyone to this place at all"

"I don't believe that. How could you use that spell without the intent of bringing spirit here?"

He had a point. You knew some people had struggled to invoke spirits or other worldly beings but you had managed to pull it off. It wouldn't be able to pass off as an accident in anyone else's eyes.

"I mixed it up. The incantation was all off" you said pointing to the page in your book where the spell had been mixed up. He glanced over the words of the books noting you had been in fact correct. But one concern arose which you knew had to be solved.

"Hm. I see. Well then, how do you plan on sending me back. Surely you should know a solution"

"Um. It should be here somewhere. It'll be in one of these books" you said, raking through the various books on your shelf.

This could take a while.

You spent hours searching for spells. Time travel, healing spells, even death incantations but nothing about sending back demons. You worked your way into the early hours in the morning while the demon you summoned had glanced over you, giving his own sarcastic input within the process.

It was 8am you noticed. You had to get to work. The group wouldn't be able to know their schedule for the day if you hadn't been there. You rummaged through your clothes, picking up a plain shirt and jeans before making your way to the bathroom to wash up.

"And where do you think you're going? We still need to find a spell" he asked, seemingly annoyed by your sudden rush to leave.

"I need to go to work. I'm a choreographer so I can't miss out on today" you replied shortly, attempting to leave the room again,.but his hand snaked around you to close the door in front of you.

"A choreographer? May I come along with you? I believe I have a few skills with me" he proposed. It was baffling to you that you believed demons to be vile creatures yet this one in particular had actually wanted to go to dance practice with you.

"I can't just-" you began.

"Either you take me with you or I'll keep you here. The choice is yours" he interjected. Of course he'd use blackmail to keep you in place. You pondered over the choice and figured it'd be easier to bring him along with you rather than keeping him in your room alone, knowing he would possibly look through your room without you knowing.

"You're enjoying messing with me aren't you" you remarked whilr he chuckled at your response.

"Of course. It's entertaining. Besides you're the one that brought me here, so you're the one that needs to make my stay here more tolerable" he countered knowing tou had to do as he said since it was your own fault. You were hopeless with his presence.

"I hate you" you said coldly.

"I never expected you to like me in the first place" he replied with the same coldness you had displayed.

"So everyone, I'd like you to meet Hoseok, he's the newest member of the group for now" you introduced

You waved him off to the group of six other men in the room. All six of them you noticed had greeted the new member of the group with a warm smile and a few handshakes. It was surreal how even as a demon he was able to be reply as humanely as possible. It made you wonder whether he had interacted with humans in the past. You found yourself in a trance by the scene in front of you, thoughts running rapidly through your mind until something snapped you out of your thoughts. Or perhaps someone.

"Hey. Are you alright?" one of the boys had asked who you recognised as Namjoon.

"Yeah. Sorry. Just blanked out for a moment" you sincerely stated before making your way to the group "How about you guys perform what you've got so far and we'll get Hoseok to practice after that?"

Rather than a reply they all maintained their formation. You walked to the side of the studio, the dark haired demon following suit besides you.

"So any dancing skills?" you asked noting it'd be a better idea to have asked previously before bringing him down to the studio.

"I may have dabbled in dancing in the past. Don't worry. I'll be able to do this dance since I know you must care so greatly about your reputation. Probably the reason you didn't want to get help to send me back right" he replied a smirk creeping up to his lips.

"That's not-" you began.

"Shh. The dance is starting" he said yet again proving, he was intolerable. You ignored him focusing your attention on the group in front of you.

The music began, a rather hip-hop sounding track at that. You had touched on various styles of dance but this week had been practicing the particular style of music. You had to admit they had done well with the dance, moves sharp and rhythm on point. Aside from a few slip ups which were expected considering your limited amount of practice but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

"Interesting" Hoseok mumbled to himself.

"In what way?" you replied as he turned his attention towards you, unsure whether it had been a positive or negative thought crossing his mind.

"I've never seen this style before as much. Demons have a more classical style of dance. But I believe I have a grasp on the dance now" he said as you realised how modernised the dance was compared to the other styles out there.

"Would you like to try it out now?" you asked seeing as the dance was now over, guiding him back to the group. You claimed his position in the dance, not quite in the centre but not towards the back where you wouldn't be able to see him. Rather you placed him to the far right in the middle where you could see him easily.

"Now let's take that from the top" you said, playing the song from the start, the song amplifying in the relatively small dance studio.

They began the dance yet again, this time your focus was solely placed on the group as you had no company besides you to take up some of it.

Your mouth widened in shock as even with only seeing the dance once, his skills were enough for him to pull it off perfectly. Each move was powerful to say the least, each twist and turn had looked effortless. It was as if he had been practicing it for a couple of months that he pulled each one off without a second thought. Once the dance ws over, he walked over towards you, a smile present on his face from your expression.

"How was that?" he asked already knowing the answer but wanting you to say it instead.

"Are you sure you haven't danced to that before?"

"I told you earlier, I said I have a few skills in dance. It'll be fun working alongside you"

"Working alongside?"

"I've made my decision to stay here. Don't bother worrying yourself about finding a spell to turn it back. Would you be willing to help me out?"

"If it's fine with you. I'll be honoured to work alongside you as well" you smiled, reaching out your hand to accept his awaited handshake.

Now you knew, even though it was a mistake that started all of this. A mistake was what fated you with each other. But it wasn't too much of a burden. It was only a harmless mistake in the end.

Hey everyone, to start off this side blog, I will just give you a list of some of my favorite authors here on tumblr, so here they are!!!

@lovely-kpop-writer : Lets start off with Jas over here, she writes for many kpop groups which I absolutely LOVE!! She is also really fun to talk to, and not trying to brag or anything, but we just officially became friends, which I'm really happy about!!! One thing I really like that she does is her MTL's. Just the way she discribes each member in them with so much detail just motivates me to become a better writer and actually finish writings I started. Her work is just GOD TIER So you should definitely go and check out her content!!!

@hanniiesuckle17 : Next here we have another writer who is very very talented just like Jas. Her skz (Stray Kids) is just on point, there is absolutely no errors in anything she writes!!! And if any of you enjoy reading about Han, or Jisung, she has quite a bit of content for him, well if can't tell from her username. So be sure to go look at her stuff she writes!!!!

@wegoingsofthours : Omg this girl is not only an amazing writer, but she is also a wonderful friend just like Jas. The way she writes her stuff is like no others, she puts her all into everything she writes just like @lovely-kpop-writer and @hanniiesuckle17 !!! Her request are like always open too, so don't be shy and go ahead and request something for her to write, and she writes pretty quickly, your request should most likely be done the next day, but I can't promise that it always will. She doesn't write smut so keep that in mind, if wanna go sin, she isn't the person for that, but other than that, she is a great writer!!!

@taetaesbaebaepsae : Omg, do not get me started in this girl, she has like only some of the best smutty content, along with @marigold-doms, but you'll get to them next. This girl has so much content too, so just read it all until you just can't take anymore. She is also very detailed in her works, each detail in her smut is just written so perfectly!!! Be sure to go and check out her masterlist full of the good stuff!!!!

@marigold-doms : Oh sis, now that we're here, I feel like I have no other choice but to bring up Mika's fanfic for NCT's Yuta, the Top/Bottom Relationship. She did such a good job on it and once I found it, I just couldn't stop reading it, it was amazing!!!! And all of the reactions they write are really good as well, they don't have as much content, but the stuff they do have is like GOD TIER sis!!! Don't be shy to go check them out!!!!

@starryhyuck : I haven't read much of this girls stuff, but I read one something she wrote for Jaemin, and omg sis it was amazing!!!!!! Like I need to get on my stuff and read more of her content!!!! That's all that needs to be said, her content is GREAT, go check out her stuff!!!!

Banished ♡ Hwang Hyunjin (Part 2)

Summary: In which an ancient feud causes the split of two kingdoms, each side being left to their own accord.

“Your Highness, your father wishes to speak to you” the palace guard stated to the prince, who had been sitting mindlessly within the chambers of his room. 

“Yes, I’ll be there” Hyunjin replied, a small smile on his face, an act concealing his true disheartened nature of having to have a conversation with the king. Sure, he had begun to make amends with him progressively day by day, but nothing had proven enough to make up for years of living under the constant harsh supervision of him.

He trudged along the hall towards his intended destination. The audience chamber. Although with Hyunjin being his son, the king had never allowed a soul to enter his own private chambers, claiming it to be unfitting for the conversations he had conducted with his son. Not that he had many conversations with his father, but never had Hyunjin been able to enter any of the vast number of rooms he had claimed for himself.

The prince knocked on the door cautiously at first, composing himself before having the courage to knock. The door had been opened swiftly by one of the guards, which although had proven to be unnecessary, the king insisted on having one to accompany him through the entire castle, as a precaution for any oncoming intruders. Nobody had seen the significance of this but his words had been final therefore it had been henceforth adhered to.

“I believe you wanted to see me” Hyunjin asked, head bowed down slightly in a respectful manner.

“Yes. Take a seat” the King said, beckoning him over to the chair courteously placed opposite him. The room was large in size but nonetheless had been one of the smallest rooms located in the castle.

“I wanted to enquire on how guarding the forest has been” he asked, taking a sip of a drink placed in the goblet besides him. Unaware of what the drink had been, the prince had just assumed it to be an alcoholic beverage of some sort.

“It’s been very beneficial father. I’ve been able to see what the circumstances of the forest are in and how the guards carry out their jobs” Hyunjin replied sincerely, much to his father’s content.

“I’m glad to hear that. I feared that you would be tired of the job and quit, but I must say. You’ve taken me by surprise” the king replied.

The conversation Hyunjin had with the guard a few days ago had flashed through his mind. Now was the chance to ask his father regarding his issue, knowing he had been in a rather uplifting mood.

“Father, I would like to propose the idea of having less people to work there instead. I believe the amount of people guarding the forest is truly excessive” Hyunjin replied, fearing the reaction out of his father as he let his mouth speak before his mind. Based on the way his father’s grip on his goblet tightened and how his knuckles bled white, rage had seemed to surface through his usual cold exterior.

“Excessive? Have you seen the way in which the other kingdom resents us?” he asked, unusually calm considering the venom dripping from his tone.

“Father, they do not seem like the enemies to me. You can’t keep this feud going on forever”

“I’m playing it safe my son. You’re the only heir left to the throne”

“I know you aren’t playing it safe for me at all. You’re afraid yourself. Am I correct?”

“That’s enough. You may leave. If I hear one more word about the way I run this kingdom, I shall ensure you never leave these walls at all”

“Guards, I have a request to make. I’d rather you allow me to enter the forest earlier than usual” Hyunjin remarked, earning a disapproving look by his fellow members.

“But Your Highness, your father wouldn’t allow this” the guard replied, clearly frightened that agreeing to this request would cost him his job. From day one, the safety of the prince was regarded to be the most significant within this whole job. More highly than catching any invaders.

“If my father has any opposition, I can assure you I will take the full blame for it” Hyunjin stated, already seating upon the horse “now, if you don’t have any more concerns, I best be off”

“Your Highness, if this is about the girl, I shall remind you to make sure not to act in haste. You should value your life over this”

“My life, I don’t believe that girl wishes to cause us any harm. Neither do I see her as a threat in any means” Hyunjin replied, smiling softly to the reaction of the guards.

The forest had been completely deserted, not a soul had been in sight neither in the forest nor it it’s surrounding areas. Considering it had been rather early in the morning, it could be assumed the other villagers had been within their accommodations as not even Hyunjin’s father had awoken at this hour of the day. All besides one figure had been within sight.

Upon approaching the figure, donned in a hooded cloak and their entire body completely covered from head to toe, the prince had taken a hold of his weapon. A dagger, although small in size, it had been lethal enough nonetheless to combat any intruders. Taking a step off his horse and advancing towards the figure, located at a nearby tree, Hyunjin managed to press them forcefully against the tree trunk, the dagger used as a warning held against their throat, limiting their movements.

“Who are you? And what do you wish to do coming towards here?” Hyunjin demanded, voice wavering slightly out of shock and the suddenness of the situation.

“I don’t mean any harm. I had just been waiting for the market stalls to open” the voice, which could explicitly be heard to be a feminine voice, had replied. But this voice in particular had been familiar to Hyunjin. He retracted the dagger back, sheathing it in his belt to present he had been powerless yet again. He took off the hood worn upon her head, letting out a sigh in both the relief of it not being an intruder as well as it being a person he had been familiar with and planning to meet again.

“I see we meet again” Hyunjin said with a smile, offering his hand for a handshake which you had adhered to.

“Indeed we do. Hyunjin am I right?” you asked, even though you had been sure that had been his name. In all truth, his name hadn’t been able to leave your head ever since your first encounter but you asked as a reassurance.

“Correct. I apologise, for almost injuring you again” Hyunjin replied, completely stunned by the fact that each time you met, he had appeared as a threat to you,

“Apology accepted, as long as it doesn’t happen again” you smiled in response.

“I can’t make any promises again as I initially promised not to come as a threat to you. But I must say, I’m glad to be seeing you once again”

You knew he hadn't meant any harm but it had been coincidental that this had happened twice. Had it been anyone else, you may have been terrified.

“As am I. So, is there a particular reason you’re here this early”

“I should be asking you that question. But first to answer you, I wanted to patrol this area a bit earlier today. How about you? What’s a girl like you doing in this forest alone this early?”

“I always come here pretty early. It’s rather peaceful being here at this time, wouldn’t you agree?” you asked.

The forest had been your only source of peace, away from the crowded village you had come from. Not that you hadn't enjoyed being aeound other people but it had been a change in scenery to be alone once in a while.

“Although I’m here at this hour of the day for the first time, I have to agree with you. Especially with the constant pestering I get at home”

“Pestering? What is your family like?” you asked.

“Well, I live with my father only, but he expects quite a lot from me to be honest. Being the palace guard and all, he just wants me to constantly giving as much as I can in ever circumstance”

You could see the hint of despondency within his demeanour although it had been restricted with the presence of his mask. It had made you wonder the position his father had been in to hold such high expectations of his only son. But you couldn't say that you hadn't been through such a scenario in your past.

“I understand that. My parents expect quite a lot from me in general so I can see where you’re coming from”

“As much as I hate to hear that you deal with it as well, I must admit, it’s nice having someone that can understand me”

“I guess I feel the same way" you smiled "Since we're reunited, tell me about yourself. And please could you remove your mask. It's rather strange to talk to you like this" you asked noting that you hadn't ever seen Hyunjin's face before. But you had enough trust built to accept he was reliable enough for your standards.

"My apologies" he said, taking off the item. From what you could see, he had looked young compared to the age you had guessed the other guards to be. In fact he seemed to be closer to your age. You had to admit aside from his dishevelled hair, he held an elegant look to him. Regal in fact, if he could be compared in such a way, including his posture and his confident strides.

"Is there a problem?" Hyunjin asked but you had noticed there to be a hint of concern in his voice, while he noticed you had began to stray away from the topic of speech

"Not at all. Back to what I asked earlier. Tell me more about yourself"

The land across from the forbidden river had always been a mystery to you. Not that it was the real name for the river, you just happened to believe the title you provided it with had been apt considering its purpose. 

The two kingdoms had been separated for as long as you could remember, both closer than ever, but distant in it’s hateful relationship. The ancient feud had baseless to you and the younger generation of villagers, however, due to the loyalty members of the kingdom had felt, the feud had still occurred, with the main purpose of it long forgotten. From what you had heard, it had originated from one kingdom having stolen property from the other, yet you hadn’t been sure whether to believe the biased narrations dictated by your father. Since that day, both kingdoms had been separated by a symbolic barrier, it’s visual location being the forest in between the two places, a river positioned in the middle as if to show that crossing over the fores could not be accidental.

The treaty declared by the two nations had been each kingdom were to remain to their individual sides. The sanction for crossing the barrier being punishable by death, considered as an act of treason. 

You couldn't help but wonder how drastically situations would change for both kingdoms, hadn't your ancestors start off this futile argument. You believed the kingdoms would come a long way if they had united, but you had known it to be only merely a desire as it could not be justified in the eyes of the rulers.

The ruler of your kingdom had been a righteous man, who had been just with the laws held in place as well as the punishments carried out. You had been fortunate to be within the village of such a king. The other king however had been a cruel man, longing for nothing but power and wealth. Or so you heard. But you classed this as likely considering the amount of people that had tried to escape from his kingdom. Not a single one of them had been victorious in doing so as the forest had been guarded by the palace men. Although the forest could be used for both parties, it had been unconventional for anyone to visit it, as it generally signified retreat.

“Sir, do you ever wonder what the other kingdom is like?” you asked the merchant who had provided you with your daily necessities, while gazing across in the direction of the forest.

“From what I’ve heard, I don’t think you should be considering going there. You are aware of the punishment for it aren’t you”

“I’m aware of it. I’m just curious” you replied, guaranteeing you would not be reckless enough to go past the boundaries.

“Curiosity can cause you a lot of trouble Miss. Especially at a place like this. And just think, you’re at an advantage to be on this side of the kingdom. The other side of the kingdom despise us”

“Your Highness. Are you willing to take on this responsibility?” one of the guards had asked, seeking assurance.

“It’s for the good of the people, I think I’m positive of it”

The prince had taken the responsibility of guarding the forest, considering that there had been a shortage of guards present to carry out this duty. Although the job role could be replaced by one of the other noblemen of the kingdom, the sense of adventure had been seen as a privilege to Hyunjin, hence why he had accepted the offer. With the vigilant eye of the king, confining his ability to visit other places, the world out of the castle walls had been a mystery to Hyunjin, excluding a few expeditions. As the prince had turned into a legal age to take on an occupational position, he had seen the offer as a perfect opportunity to do so. 

The prince had settled on the back of the raven horse, which had been chosen specifically to intimidate any trespassers. But due to Hyunjin having previously built a connection with the horse, he had seen it rather obedient as he had tamed it to follow his commands. 

“Guards, if you would do me a favour, do not reveal my identity to the people. I would rather keep my position a secret. Address me without any formalities when we step out of these boundaries”

“Of course Your Highness. But would it not be better to bring in  trained horse. I fear this one will not be capable enough to stand still for two long”

“I know she’ll be able to listen to my commands. Don’t worry too much”

The people had not known anything of Hyunjin, despite the fact that he had been the king’ son. His face had not been known by anyone as to ensure that he would not be threatened for the merciless acts carried out by his father. Although his father had known of the way in which the public had spoken about his brutal nature, he had not implemented this in his daily life, believing a King should be feared to maintain sovereignty within the village. The king had failed in brainwashing his son with his way of thinking, brushing it off with the excuse that he would realise it when he comes into power. But Hyunjin had covertly made a vow against this.

The castle gate had become unlatched, while all the guards had put on their masks. It was time to begin.

You had began your ordinary trek through the forest. You hadn’t intended on doing anything against the law of the land, you had just believed the forest had mainly been barren, making the walk easier for you considering the vast amount of people within the village. Not only had this been the reason behind your unusual pathway, you had also found the dark ambience of the forest to alleviate you of any stress you had felt throughout the day. 

You skipped down the familiar trail, contemplating on the various thoughts running wildly through your mind. Although each thought had been purposeless, you pondered over them as a way of keeping yourself occupied.

You noticed the guards standing on the side of the forest, each appearing menacing with their dark aura and attire, but you had known not to fear them as it had merely been an act to ward off people. You had known behind the masks, they had been generic people. You watched as each guard separated to their allocated positions, each horse composed in it’s movements. That had been until one of the horses had come galloping towards you at a rapid pace.

Your first instinct had been to run away, but with the delay of your flight response, you stood frozen to the spot, trepidation taking over every limb in your body, causing a numbing sensation. You had braced for the impact when the horse had only been a few feet in front of you, but had been left with nothing of the sort as the horse had come to a halt.

“Woah. Slow down” the person seated on the swift animal had said in a calming technique. The voice had been soft which had contradicted the dark presence the guards were meant to have, symbolising the man underneath had been of a soft nature. He had chanted a mantra of words to sedate the dismay the horse had felt. Upon concluding his words, he stepped down from the animal, focus directed at you out of worry.

“My apologies Miss. Did she hurt you?” the figure asked. Even though a mask was worn on his face, you could tell he had a concerned look on his face underneath. The mask had been embellished with small jewels, only covering the eyes of the guards. This guard in particular had received the mask with the jewels as the other members had a rather plain variety of them. He ran his fingers through his inky, windswept hair to tame it back to it's original state. He stood towering over you, from both the heeled boots he had worn and the fact that he had been taller in general.

“No, not at all” you reassured. You could see a soft look in his eyes, showing you that he had been genuine in his approach. You were hesitant in your words, considering you had never met with anyone from the other kingdom, unknowing of a way to approach them, or whether any form of communication was tolerated.

“Are we even meant to be communicating with each other by law” you wondered. None of the guards had been in close range to you during your strolls through the forest until today. But you had assumed that communicating with the opposite kingdom had been off limits.

“According to the law, presumably not. But I could not let anyone get hurt by my actions” he replied.

“You’re different from what they say” you disclosed, the man taken aback by your words.

“I’m not sure I understand what you mean” 

“Don’t you detest my kind of people?” you questioned.

“I’m sure you’re referencing the law. I don’t believe in having ill feeling towards anyone due to some sort of distant feud. And based on this conversation, I don’t believe I have any right to feel that in any way considering you haven’t done any sort of act to allow me to have hatred towards you” he replied. You found truth in his words, as it had been the belief that you stood by.

"Sir. Have you found an intruder?" one of the guards had asked.

"No need to worry. She's not an intruder" the guard replied tentatively "I really should be going, it's just my first day and I've already caused this" he said, lips casting a smile to shield his worry.

"Don't think of it that way. I wish you luck on your duty. I figure you'll make an admirable guard" you replied with certainty

"I appreciate that. My apologies again. I'll be off then, it's been a pleasure meeting you Miss. Do you have a name I should call you by?" he asked.

You replied to his request as he mentally noted what your name had been.

"You may call me Hyunjin. I'll make sure this type of encounter doesn't happen again. But do you always stroll around this forest" he asked as even though he had been secluded most of his life, he had been aware of how rare it had been to step foot in the forest, let alone walk through it.

"For as long as I can remember, I come here almost everyday" you responded, noting the hint of astonishment in his look.

"Then I believe I shall see you again one day. But take caution when visiting this forest, you wouldn't want to be mistaken for trespassing"

"I'll make sure of that. Farewell Hyunjin" you stated. To him, the way in which you pronounced his name was of ease to him. Throughout the course of his life, not even his own father had called him by his name, and with the demise of his mother, his father grew distant enough to cut off most communications, besides a few small conversations regarding the village. Along with this, everyone had believed formalities was a crucial part of royalty, therefore adhered to these customs religiously. You, in contrary, had been clueless regarding the societal position he had held, meaning you had disregarded this custom unknowingly, making you the first person to use his generic name.

"Farewell" he replied, covering up the elation he had felt from just the mere mention of his name.

"How did it go Your Highness?" one of the palace servants asked. With the relationship Hyunjin had with them, he had considered the servant a companion and deemed him more highly in this way than he considered him to be working for the castle. Compared to the other servants within the castle, this one in particular had been close in age to Hyunjin, therefore becoming the closer to him in their relationship.

"Very well. I stumbled across a particular incident but it's no matter of concern" Hyunjin responded, as not to go into detail of the situation, mainly due to the fact it could easily be misunderstood to be an act of misconduct, which he believed wasn’t severe enough to need tending to.

“If you insist. Had there been any retreats?” 

“Not at all. I suppose that everyone fears the punishment set up so there hadn’t been a single retreat. Is there really any need for guarding the forest”

“To your father it is said to be one of the most significant tasks within the kingdom. Do you believe otherwise?”

“I just think there’s no need for too many guards to be in one area. It should be enough to be guarded by one member” 

“I fear you may be right. The issue lies in the hands of your father, since he has the most control”

That had been one of the boundaries in Hyunjin’s life. The King. It had been true that the public held extreme views regarding the King, a majority of them which had been negative, however, the views had resembled Hyunjin’s also. Throughout his life he had been told constantly he could ‘do such a thing once he became king’.  And with the contrast in views between him and his father, disputes had been a natural occurrence which the King had always won due to his reigning power. 

Trivial days went by for the both of you. The prince had still remained on guard for the forest, as you continued your regular visits to the market for essentials. After that one day, you hadn't met up with Hyunjin again, as you both had been expected to be at different points of the forest, with your kingdom differences.

"Your Highness, is there an issue?" One of the guards asked in an almost inaudible voice, as not to let anyone in surrounding areas aware of his position.

The guards seemed to notice the way in which Hyunjin would be distracted with your presence. They had memorised the times in which you would step foot in the forest, wandering through the same path each day. Each day the prince would cast his gaze in your direction, longing for the chance to talk to you as you were unaware of his position, meaning he'd be treated as a generic person. You'd been the only person outside the castle that had approached him, meaning you to be his only connection to the outside world. Although he had been through the village numerous times, he'd never had the courage to communicate with anybody, afraid he'd lose his identity.

"There's no issue" Hyunjin lied, clearly unfazed by the words of the guards.

"It's the girl isn't it"

"How did you know?" he chuckled in response as he was not inconspicuous in his actions during the encounters.

"You've been looking out for her everyday"

"Well. I guess it's no use. My father will never let me talk to a villager, let alone someone from the other kingdom. After all. Curiosity killed the cat. I'd rather the both of us remain alive"
