Hi, Mira!  We’re excited to see what you do with this character created especially for this roleplay.  I already love your take on Evander and can’t wait to see him bumble his way through being social.

History: 

Many describe Evander as studious and quiet, an air of mystery surrounding him. Although he is those things, the more people get to know him, the more they realize that he is a huge nerd, and the air of mystery shatters, a rather dorky young man appearing instead. 

It is very true that Evander spends most of his time in the library and seems to be the stereotypical Ravenclaw; studious and good marks. The reality of it all is that he spends most of his time in the library trying to avoid other people, and it happens to work. Most people who find him in the library assume that he is there to study, as the rest of them are, though Evander frequents the library when he wants to escape from the pressures of the world, diving into muggle literature, which he thinks is far better than any of the wizard stories that are rather common. He tends to keep to himself, that he not a huge fan of The Tales of Beetle the Bard. 

Evander loves his family very much, though they tend to be a bit too exuberant for him, and his family finds it rather funny that such a shy person was born into a family of rather loud, bubbly and friendly people. He doesn’t, however. He feels embarrassed to no end, bordering on shame, that he gets so nervous around people, knowing that it often strains the relationships between him and his family, and because of that, he does his best to make it up to his mother and father in the best way he can. Hence his good marks. His mother is also rather a fan of soft-muggle-rock, and as a way to make it up to her he took on playing acoustic guitar, veering from violin and viola, and classical music in general, and has done his best to learn a few of her favorite songs, finding that learning the guitar was more fun than he had anticipated, although he still prefers playing  Solo Bach.

Social situations in general tend to scare him very much, and he was honestly very surprised that he was able to make any friends within his six years at Hogwarts. Though, that doesn’t make him rude in any way. No, Evander is rather kind, and speaks pleasantly towards people, though he has no real interest in becoming friends with anyone. It doesn’t even have to do with him being antisocial, it’s just that he’s content with having a few friends, and that’s really all he feels he needs. He does occasionally feel rather lonely, but he’s always been, so it doesn’t bother him much.

His antisocial-ness derives from his lack of desire towards people, at least that’s what he says. Closer to the truth is that he’s very scared of judgement, and being a brown-pureblood was always grounds for judgement from everybody, muggle-borns and purebloods alike. Rather than try to put himself out there, he would rather isolate himself in a bubble and feel lonely. He really does crave attention, but it’s too terrifying for him to talk to most people, so he just accepts that his shyness is his downfall and goes through everyday life, often feeling somewhat hollow.  

There are a few good things, however, that derive from his shyness. Due to his lack of ability towards small talk and social interactions, he has avoided making any enemies, a thing he is eternally grateful for. He hates conflict and being involved with it, and often when people begin arguing, he grimaces before trying to distance himself from the situation. When he was a bit younger he tried to diffuse an argument, only furthering the situation, feeling his resolve wear away as it got worse and worse, before he started to cry, feeling overwhelmed, and since then he has tried to stay away from any conflict entirely. If he had an enemy he’s pretty sure he would die. 

Probably, his favorite thing about his shyness was that at some point people stopped asking him questions and left him alone, leaving him free to do as he pleases, without much regard for what he’s doing, because after failing to get to know him, people tend to leave him alone. Now, he doesn’t do anything terribly horrible, mind you, but he has a chance to just be. He takes advantage of people’s ignorance towards him by dedicating his soul to music. He’s a tiny bit jealous of Juno Mackenzie, but mostly in awe of her ability. It’s not naturally easy for him, so he works ridiculously hard to improve, and although he’s never quite content with the quality of his playing, he still feels a sense of accomplishment. He was practically giddy when he first joined the Hogwarts Orchestra, and rehearsal is what he looks forward to every week. That being said, he is rather impatient and easily frustrated while practicing.

In about his fifth year of Hogwarts, he was forced cajoled to join the Dueling Club, by one of his close friends, Malanchai Abernathy, and he was very upset about it, bordering on feeling betrayed. After about a year in the club, he has grown to enjoy it very much, though he’ll be damned if he ever let Kai know. It didn’t quite work out in the way that his friend had hoped, Evander still being rather antisocial, but his walls of defense seemed to lessen, ever so slowly coming out of his shell. So it was maybe a win. 

Now in his sixth year at Hogwarts, Evander doesn’t really know what the future holds. Most purebloods he knows seem to be getting engaged, arranged marriages being sprang upon them. Evander doesn’t think that if he did have an arranged marriage it would impact him much, but his family is not as traditional as other purebloods that he knows, so he really doesn’t know what to expect. He almost always had the plan of pursing music, very likely in the Muggle world, if he had been accepted to a university. But with the brewing of a war, those plans seemed to have been shattered, at least for the time being. He doesn’t know what’s going to happen, and waiting for a storm, in the fake calm, is what terrifies him most.

Hello, tag lurkers!  Well, we officially opened yesterday, and we could not be more pleased with the result.  We’ve got a dedicated band of writers who are already doing wonderful things with their canon and original characters, and we’d love to have more join the party!

We’re a literate Golden Trio Era skeleton roleplay with tons of canon and original characters still up for grabs, or you could submit your own!  We’ve got a butterfly effect-esque plot where one seemingly small event occurring 17 years ago has sent out ripples that have changed parts of the story completely.  We’ve got an OOC Discord server for all of our writers to get to know each other (and trust me when I say it’s been utilized).

We’d worship anyone who brought us Dean Thomas, Neville Longbottom, Lavender Brown, Luna Lovegood, the Harry Potter, or honestly any of our other open skeletons, so come check us out!

And so we open...

On 01 September of every year, young witches and wizards stream onto Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross Station, boarding the Hogwarts Express to the legendary school like clockwork.  This school year, however, begins unlike any other.  Before students leave the comfort of their homes, dreadful news arrives via The Daily Prophet upon their doorstep.

Azkaban has been breached.

Witches and wizards that had been willfully forgotten by most have poured back into the world - names that make most tremble in fear.  Avery, Carrow, Crabbe, Dolohov, Greyback, Jugson, Mulciber, Nott, Rookwood, Rowle, Selwyn, Travers...Lestrange.  Names that had been struck from good society for following the Dark Lord during the First Wizarding War, and the faces attached to them, are now free, their whereabouts, means of escape, and agenda unknown.

The train is more crowded than usual, with Aurors stationed upon it to protect students and teachers alike in case of an attack.  Students who do not usually congregate might be forced into the same cramped cabin or squeeze together on a bench.  Some students are afraid and tense, while others simply fail to see the big deal.  Azkaban is a world away, after all, and what could Death Eaters possibly want at Hogwarts?

We’ll spend the first week or so on the trip to Hogwarts and/or the days leading up to the beginning of classes.  Keep an eye on the main for the day that classes officially start.

We will officially open for interactions at 12:00am EST on 03 January 2018.
