[Dad] said that in this world there was no place for a man like me. I made a place for myself.         I proved him wrong.

oberyn martell did not have his skull crushed in after failing to avenge his sister’s death just for me to find out her baby daddy not only divorced her, but gave his new baby the same damn name he already gave her son.

Ser Garlan the Gallant, a true knight
Tumblr media
“I see why they name you Garlan the Gallant, ser,” she said, as she took his hand.
“My lady is gracious to say so. My brother Willas gave me that name, as it happens. To protect me.”
“To protect you?” She gave him a puzzled look.
Ser Garlan laughed. “I was a plump little boy, I fear, and we do have an uncle called Garth the Gross. So Willas struck first, though not before threatening me with Garlan the Greensick, Garlan the Galling, and Garlan the Gargoyle.”
It was so sweet and silly that Sansa had to laugh, despite everything. Afterward she was absurdly grateful. Somehow the laughter made her hopeful again, if only for a little while. Smiling, she let the music take her, losing herself in the steps, in the sound of flute and pipes and harp, in the rhythm of the drum... and from time to time in Ser Garlan’s arms, when the dance brought them together.

The Roses of Highgarden.
Many moons ago I did a portrait of my favorite Tyrell, Willas and in my vanity vowed that I would make similar portraits for all of the Tyrells. Of course that never happened, but over three years later I’ve made this to honor my favorite Westerosi house.

"Sweet sister," he explained patiently, "offend Tyrell and you offend Redwyne, Tarly, Rowan, and Hightower as well."

D&D’s Logic: L O L, NOPE! We don't give a fuck about the explosion of the Great Sept of Baelor. Fuck Ser Loras, Lord Mace and Queen Margaery. Cersei is our Queen and Daenerys is a mad woman!

What she says: I’m fine
What she means: House Tyrell is the second most powerful house in all of Westeros, from the amount of gold they have, to their massive armies which are easily supported by their gold. They still have a number of powerful members of their family even with Margery and Loras dead. In addition to that they have spies, bards, etc, all over the seven kingdoms just like everyone else. Casterly Rock is incredibly far away from High Garden and there’s no way in hell that pretty much the entire Lannister army would march all the way to the Tyrell’s capital in High Garden with literally nobody noticing; and even if they got there the Tyrell’s army isn’t exactly non-existant. To fight them the Lannister’s would’ve easily sacrificed such a large amount of their forces making their chances against Daenerys almost negligible, all the while making Kings Landing and other Lannister controlled territory so incredibly weak that Daenerys could’ve waltzed into Kings Landing without shedding a single civilian blood drop. On top of that Olenna is one of the most incredibly intelligent and powerful characters on the entire show and wouldn’t have been eliminated from this unrealistic attack, and she also has more than a single castle she could’ve retreated to. Also Euron’s fleet just appeared out of nowhere with zero warning as well? Just like in the fight with the sand snakes? Where he defeated three of the show’s most powerful women at once? All of this has but one explanation: Sloppy storytelling

They are the wealthiest house, but fighting isn't really their forte. I mean, they're just not known for being the most fearsome warriors. So, to have a long, extended battle there... It didn't make a lot of sense

Tourney at Ashford Meadow
The tourney at Ashford Meadow was a tourney hosted by House Ashford at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC. Lord Ashford staged the tourney to celebrate his daughter’s thirteenth name day. His daughter was the queen of love and beauty and would have five champions to defend her honor. All other entrants were the challengers, and if anyone defeated a champion, they would take their place as the new champion. After three days of jousting, the champions would determine if Lord Ashford’s daughter retained the title of queen or if another would wear it.
