My name's Natassja and I take mostly overly exposed photos and paint pseudo photo realistic portraits of an almost expressionist nature. Im not pretentious though, I just pretend.

TIME — n
1. The continuous passage of existence in which events pass from a state of potentiality in the future, through the present, to a state of finality in the past.
We are all subjected to time and changes and it is one thing that is inevitable.
Through these pieces I aim to capture moments in time in view of a Life and it’s history. The idea in mind is one holding one’s own life – past and present. The subjects within the photos are holding images of themselves of a previous point in their lives. An individual in the present - with their past in tow, an overt display of the past.
I have used a contrasting combination of oil on canvas and 120mm film photography in creating these pieces.
Below is a quote that I feel is somewhat pertinent to my current work.
“There is no past that we can bring back by longing for it. There is only an eternally new now that builds and creates itself out of the Best as the past withdraws.”
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749-1832) German poet, novelist and dramatist.

This piece is a collection of photographs I took and printed on acetate. They are part of my time based collection. Some are double exposed some are just random. All taken on the same journey. Held up to a window.
