Everyone has their own interpretation on what the female gaze is. From what I have learnt, its not so complicated as some people think. The female gaze is simply for what it is, the Female....Gaze.

you can do so much with the female gaze and there are hundreds of ways to express this subject and the idea of what it means to be a woman. Throughout time, the idea of the female gazed has changed so much and continues to do so through time.

What i wanted to express was the reality of the female gaze and what it looks like in the modern world we live in. taking photo's of my female friends doing normal everyday activities such as walking through a train station, eating a cupcake, smoking, laying down on the grass etc. are all normal activities that people do on a daily basis. i wanted to incorporate all that with the female gaze which we see on a daily basis and mix it with nature and beauty to try and capture a sense of realism.

although the female gaze is pretty much exactly what it is... the female gaze, what i would have changed is maybe i would have liked to have done a more in depth research into the topic and maybe looked at film and how different directors use the female gaze in their films. i do like the message my video tries to express but i think i could have done a better job with editing it and having a more range of shots.

i do like the 6 final images i think they are all very different to each other and all capture he female gaze in different ways. Again i was trying to catch a sense of realism whilst experimenting with different things such as nature, water and everyday objects such as a cupcakes and cigarettes to try and help create a dreamlike image whilst using the female gaze

This is the final edit of the video. to be honest i don't love the way the video came out, i wish i was better at editing or if i gave myself a bit more time i would have played around a lot more with the text and tried to make them a bit more interesting when they pop up or vanish. Also the jazz music was too quiet in comparison to the rock music. i like the song choices i think they worked well together but i should have edited the quality of the sound better.

overall, i like the message the video expresses, although i hope that the video makes sense without the explanation although my editing skills aren't the best and i wish i had taken more shots from different angles.

These are the two music tracks i am going to use for my film. the top one is a classic jazz piece i found on youtube which i thought would compliment christinas scenes very well. And the bottom ons is a rock and roll piece from the movie the Joker. i thought this soundtrack would work well with liv's scenes and would portray a huge contrast between the two lifestyles

these are some bts photos and video i took while filming my film with my friend Liv. Liv had the role of the 'underdressed' woman that ends up at the Ivy. when looking at her and what she is wearing you would not expect her to end up at the Ivy but maybe at a bus stop instead.

These are some extra bts photos i took of ava during the graveyard/park shoot. i think these photos create a good sense of realism and mixes nature and beauty well together

these are some bts photos and video of when i filmed christinas part. we filmed part of it at her house and then walked to the ivy. i really wanted to try and capture a sense of elegancy and classiness with her character to really show the comparison between the two. you would expect someone dressed elegantly to maybe go to somewhere like the ivy or maybe take a taxi, but instead you see that she is 'comfortable with herself' to dress up like that and do everyday activities such as taking the bus.

some before and afters of pictures i edited of Ava. i wanted to try and make the pictured a bit more interesting and i wanted to experiment some of my editorial skills. for the top one i added more trees and more peppers around her. i dont love the edit, i feel like i added too many similar trees which makes it obvious its edited.

For the bottom 2 i also decided to edit a few more trees to make the picture more alive. i really like how this one came out, i feel like it makes the image more captivating.

Lastly for the middle pictures, i felt like it needed a background and so i thought maybe loads of green would make the picture pop but i think it added a bit of confusion, plus my editing skills aren't the best.

i tried to experiment with different filters and i really like this particular one as i feel as if it expresses a good sense of realism whilst mixing beauty and nature in one picture. of course the female gaze is always present. i think this filter helps express emotion

i love this effect from my camera, i decided to experiment with it more and try it out on ava eating cupcakes. i prefer the effect on the flowers
