Okay I think I've been possessed by the yaōriful polycule of polymikes have my human fake mikes giving Jongler makeup (that they might regret) and a good hairbrushing anyway-

Also I thought it would be fun to make the makeup palette a colour checker (aka some thing used for photography and assumably video which I think a TV studio would have) anyway look at the fact this is set in a background with fucking props anyway the power of poly I guess-

One of my friends who played Scarlet Hollow (play it, it's so good, pss pss pss it's got achievements how i got my friend to play it) said my Jongler (re)design looked like Tabitha/someone else from SH and that just made me give Battat Tabitha's charming smile (and gave his Mike costume an actually charming smile he kinda looks like max tennyson doesn't he)

*Slams open door and stands still, my silhouette stretching across the floor from my backlight* Guess what fuckers, I've got some Altered Loyalties shit to write today and this time let's talk shop about why in the hells would Raf know how to understand Bumblebee- let's go!

My friend brought up a very interesting detail while we were talking about hauntings unrelatedly, how we can only explain how the world works through human perception which can be altered to suit our needs. Examples being you pick up your own language easier than others in a crowd where multiple are spoken or - to put it in technological terms - how you filter out the noise to get the results you want; what if the noise you as a human filter out is considered vital to someone - or especially something - else?

Well, as a quick recap, Skyquake has been on Earth for say... 500 years or so as a Guardian with a comms relay tower. He's been here since before human radio was invented, so when we eventually did gain access to radio his signal had by default been the background noise everyone naturally assumed to be the default effect of radio waves. A consistent if not alien signal, with consistent language pings as per standard Decepticon EHP Guardian protocol, for generations of human life.

And then, all of a sudden, it was gone.

Most everyone who ever listened to radio at least once prior to the disappearance of the signal noticed something was off, but probably assumed it was the changing of the times, it WAS the mid-2000s after all; it could have simply been the Y2K of radio. Others who are surrounded by radio all their lives, via interest or work or particularly a sect of paramilitary deserters, found themselves hunting down the missing signal because they sure as hell didn't invent a new radio that automatically filters out the old sound and something else HAS to have happened. And others still...

Well- did you know that the first spread of the haunted house mythos sparked at around the same time as electricity was becoming a common household tool? How lightbulbs operated at frequencies that syncronised with the frequencies of the human senses - of the human eye - to 'cause hallucinations' or in other words... to see the sound the lumens were making? Human perception is dependent on what our senses pick up and what our minds filter out, whether it's languages we do not know or the sounds of machines. But just like a foreign language, the signal that had been lost contained learnable phrases and sentences and - indeed - it's own alien sense of language across the span of human radios for all it's existence.

Raf, IT nerd as he is, probably picked up the interest from at least one family member; that or he's very clearly picked up the interest young given his 12 y/o brain can compete with Soundwave in a hacking match. With a love of RC cars and a competence with computers, he manages to be able to understand the things Bumblebee - word for bloody word - is saying. How? Well, kids are more often than not the subject of most well known hauntings.

I like to think, with Skyquake's more active pressense on Earth prior to the show (which is not a hard bar to pass, he's still sitting on his ass mostly but he sure isn't in stasis all the while), that this is how Rafael can at least listen to Bumblebee and perhaps other forms of cybertronian language (I like to believe that a voice box is only one PART of cybertronian languages, being primarily the 'voice' ie what ends up projecting the most of a cybertronian's speech, Bumblebee missing the sound of his own voice being less he doesn't have one and more that it's not complete). Plus I would also think it's funny that it was a Decepticon - though unintentionally - was the foundational reason why some humans (because Raf cannot be the only one in the span of billions of humans on the radio) to hear and learn and understand the sounds and the meanings behind cybertronian language; and when - in the brief window where the humans interact with a still living Skyquake - at the moment he speaks Raf is able to RECOGNISE the 'Con's voice like??? How horrifying would that be that you get to meet face to 10ft away face the very deadly frame and allegiance of the ghost that's been haunting you since earlier childhood???

Anyway Raf may or may not have been working on a little cybetronian translator on his computer out of early interest and recent need, heheh-

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I think for the situation I’m in I need another perspective. I (F23) work as an RA at my local university and recently had a big change to my job. It’s the same change that's happening everywhere, aliens. New beings from outer space walking about our world, applying for jobs, and now attending our schools. And I’ve was chosen as a member of our uni’s “Out-Reach Program” basically a bit of a welcoming committee for new alien students and a member of housing that works to help facilitate human/ alien relations.

Sorry if I make it sound important.

It’s just a professional way of saying I make sure all housing students, human or alien, get along and create a positive atmosphere yada, yada. Either by talking down an angry student whose mad his roommate ate all their snacks or having a paint night in the shared living space. It’s been a bit of a trip and I’ve had to face new situations I never had before but I have a good team behind me. My fellow RA’s that make up 10 other humans like me and 8 non-human staff, and that's just our building alone.

But the one I’m going to talk about is Quartz (F/N), whose a Petrosapien. I wouldn't put his species down if I didn't think it mattered to what happened.

Quartz has been one of the best coworkers I’ve had since working, guys super reliable. Always arrives to meetings on time, always gets his tasks done, always has great ideas for events and projects, and more than once has been able to resolve student conflicts. Especially between other species dorming here. And also the guy is just a good person to hang around with and someone I generally see as a friend. Just a chill and cool person to hang around with.

That's why what happened this Friday really shocked me.

So after an event at our dorms, game night with snacks, a group of us RA were cleaning up the place, we just put the extra tables and chairs away and we were onto the actual clean up. And if you know uni students, they're basically baby adults, and kind of still need people to pick up after them. What happened was an accident, seriously! I was crouched down sweeping some spilled popcorn that ended up under the counter, busy doing that. I didn't notice Quartz placing his arm on the edge of the counter and with his back turned he didn’t notice me. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I got up too fast and too forward and caught my forehead against his rock hard elbow. I of course cried out and grabbed my forehead, which got everyone's attention in the room.

“OP”! Cried Quartz

In pain but mostly embarrassed I said “I’m fine”!

Mistake number 2 happened when I lifted my hand from my head to assess the damage, like the way you feel around the hurt spot to see how bad it is. I heard what sounded like a wheeze and I looked to see Quartz standing next to me, yellow eyes wide and just staring, before fainting to the ground with a heavy crash.

I forgot all about my head bump and I began to panic along with the other RA’s, except for Zed, another RA who just laughed.

I never faced a situation like this before, not even my new training covered this. So I did the best I could, having Quartz moved to the couch and keeping him elevated. Someone called 911 and already students were peeking from their rooms to see what happened. I did my best to keep everyone calm and waited for the ambulance to arrive.

When they did it kind of occurred to everyone how useless they were in the situation, Quartz was an alien and basically a living piece of stone. Luckily enough Quartz woke up, to say I was relieved was an understatement. We asked if he was okay and if he needed to go to the hospital, Quartz refused and actually insisted I should take the ambulance. The EMT already looked me over and while they suggested if I wasn’t feeling well I should go with them, they said that the cut wasn’t that serious so I turned it down

So with both injured people refusing to go to the hospital they eventually left, I feel bad for wasting their time.

Eventually everything settled down as we had the students go back to their rooms and cleaned up the rest of the space, I was still a bit sore but knew I had a long night ahead of me since I’d need to write an incident report before the morning, especially given that Quartz made a pretty big crack on the wooden floor.

Quartz was quiet up until he left, though he spent most of the weekend texting me short “Are you okay”? Text. It stopped by Monday as we started the week's routines and I thought things were fine and finally calming down. But Quartz has been acting off?

We used to talk a lot during our shifts together, swapping stories and advice on how to make life on campus move smoother, and even catching lunch despite the fact he can’t eat.

But now it’s like he's avoiding me, only talking to me if it's about work and sometimes rescheduling shifts we work together on.

Is he mad at me? Did I do something last Friday that offended him? Maybe a cultural thing I’m not aware of?

I really need some advice on this.

My Appoplexian friend purred when we hugged and it made me cry.

Hi y’all! This isn’t usually the place I post under, you’d probably find me on the more cat based subreddits on this site just posting stories and pic after pic of my cat Friday. The thing is though it's been a pretty tough few weeks. At the start of this month, my cat, my little buddy, Friday passed away. I knew his time was coming to an end soon. He had gotten slower, it had been harder for him to eat, and he barely moved from his bed. I knew it was coming, but finding him gone that morning rocked me in the worst way possible. And for those who think I’m being dramatic over a cat you can all shove it, I loved Friday a lot. I adopted him when I first moved to uni and he’s followed me through 3 moves, 2 jobs, and 1 bad relationship. We've been through a lot together, now nothing would be the same. It felt like a piece of me died with him gone. It has been hard to do much of anything outside of work.

This is where Arty comes in.

For some info Arty is an Appoplexian, basically a super buff cat alien. Since the whole Bellwood incident a couple of years back a lot of outer stellar residents have more or less moved to earth. It was a little strange at first but oddly enough I love this new normal. I'm proud to say that I’ve made friends with a few of my new neighbors, Arty being one of them.

The story of how the both of us met is kind of funny. Basically Arty had joined the local martial arts program that I went to, a lot of businesses at the time had begun opening up their services to our new residents, and the studio was no exception. A few interested aliens came by and joined our class, Arty included, but let me tell you that he was a sight to behold. This massive angry looking Tony the Tiger looked alike marching in and shouting how he was “READY TO RUMBLE”! He was easily the tallest and most muscled person in the studio, his appearance matching his attitude as he high-powered through the forms and was the first to step up to the floor for sparring. And like an idiot I stepped into the circle, I don’t know why I did it. Maybe I just wanted to see how I measured up? Well it ended how you expected, laid down on my back to the mat with a grinning tiger alien over me. We’ve been friends ever since, hanging out during class before meeting up outside it.

But ever since Friday died I’ve kind of been avoiding most of our meetups. I did my best to not be so obvious about how I was feeling. Didn’t think Arty would get it, he wasn’t exactly Friday's biggest fan. I also didn’t want to worry about the big guy either. I just needed a little time to get myself together.

But after a week who do I hear pounding my apartment door? Arty shouting loud and knocking at the entrance enough to make the whole unit shake.

“LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, OP! ARTY BEST HUMAN BESTIE! LET ME IN! ARTY BOUGHT TAKE OUT! AND ARTY DEMANDS YOU COME OUT AND ENJOY IT”!

I was tempted to maybe tell him I was busy but honestly take-out sounded good, I hadn’t bought groceries that week so I was mostly living off eggs and hot sauce. I opened the door and immediately Arty pushed through and immediately made himself at home on my couch, already flipping through the channels and munching on some loaded chili fries.

Arty settled on a wrestling match and we both sat quietly eating, well quiet for Arty is basically yelling at the T.V without talking to me directly. On a commercial break however he didn’t hesitate to let me know what he was thinking.

“OP! ARTY’S GOING TO BE REAL HONEST” he said, not looking at me “YOU LOOK TERRIBLE AND SMELL LIKE SOMETHING ARTY GRANDFATHER LEFT IN A LITTER BOX! WHAT'S GOING ON”!

I guess a lot of people might have taken offence of what Arty said, but it's kind of the way he talks. He means well, just doesn't bother sugar coating his opinions a lot of the time.

“Sorry” I told him “I guess maybe I'm not feeling the best”?

A bad choice of words cause he was immediately on me shouting “WHAT”?!!

I actually kind of laughed at that, while his growling showed he wasn’t amused.

“I’m sorry” I remember saying “I’m okay, really…I’m just missing Friday”

I still remember the way his yellow eyes stared into mine, I’m guessing he was surprised.

“Look, I guess it’s silly” I told him, figuring he might have been in disbelief at why I was sad “But its just kind of a human thing…sort of…I just need a little time-”

“ITS NOT SILLY” Arty said “FRIDAY WAS A FAT LAZY SMUG FELINE, AND HONESTLY ARTY IS NOT SURE WHY YOU KEPT HIM AROUND, BUT THEY WERE YOUR STREAK”! he they slapped his hand firmly on my shoulder “YOUR FAMILY”!

“Wow, thanks man-”

Then Arty grabbed me in a headlock and began to noogie me hard “BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, OP! YOU BETTER STOP MAKING ARTY WORRY CAUSE YOUR IN FOR A WORLD OF PAIN”

This got me laughing as I tried to shove him off and he shoved me till we were in this weird side hug.

Thats when it happened.

A loud rumble that vibrated from Arty.

He had purred.

I don’t know what came to cover me that second, but all I could picture was how Friday used to press up against me and purr and how after he died I never hear that noise again. So I laughed, like really hard, and then I started crying and then I was laughing and crying.

Arty looked at me like I gone insane but looked relieved when I told him I was happy.

I’m feeling a lot better these days and everything's pretty normal now.

And I think I have the giant alien tiger in my life to thank for it.

Oh no, that is quite the curse ahahah-

Well, like with everything I did some rambling so, readmores aren't against the rules right? My list is under the cut;

How do I phrase this... I like how... effective I am at my job? Like that sounds real 'loves working for the man' but really I take pride in what I do and it shows? Like just today one of my coworkers asked incredulously how I could clean the floor in like 30 minutes tops at the quality I do it at when just the other day it took an hour for another coworker to sweep and wash like... a quarter... a third of the floor? One of the newer coworkers told me I have 'Jason Vorhees vibes' and I scared him and if I say that didn't make me grin with a little bit of sadistic giddy I'd be lying.

I like my face? Like, in combination with my hair and however it's styled (from 'just woke up' to 'going to someone's wedding' and even 'wore headphones all day and it shows') like I think my face looks really nice? Like to the point where I actively like my license photos and consider them my favourite pictures of me? *shrugs* idk I think I look good face wise completely head on (like the opposite of an eagle lmao).

Probably helps that I do this with friends but I like my vocal range for like... voice acting? From kids to demons to elders to different genders (which I definitely do not try to practice outside of my friend group gaming sessions no no no, definitely not voice training <- a liar) I can do the softest voice, a squeaky voice, a raspy voice and well... a demon voice very well, I'd like to think. Hell, I like that I can do clicks, particularly a 'trilled' click AKA I can... how to explain... pop my tongue several times in the same click position to produce a series of clicks instead of the standard one click (I can do this on lateral approximate clicks, alvelor clicks, and retroflex clicks).

I like my rambling, even if I don't necessarily post - or even just say - everything that goes on in my head, because if I'm doing a dreary task I can always just get lost in those rambles and maybe some ideas will stick around long enough to be noted down. Sure, thinking about things all day without a convenient place or time to write them definitely lets things 'slip through the cracks' so to speak, but it's like I have a movie in my own head or maybe it's more like I'm directing a movie in my own head? Depends on what's happening lmao, I could be directing a daydream or I could be jotting down notes for little headcanon spiral or even connecting dots in media that like giving audiences puzzles haha!

Hmmm... a fifth thing a fifth thing... I like my art and how far I've come from an itty bitty babychild. That counts as 'myself' right? Every year, every month, every day (that I do end up drawing) I improve, from sketchy texta drawings of people with their noodle arms tucked behind their back because hands are hard to detailed mechanical robots with their hands out of frame because hands. Are. HARD. I think mini me would be shocked that it's future version would be able to draw robots and armour alongside the standard issue human. Yeah.
