The Tiny Me in OSHA-approved Hi-Vis Gear Who lives in my brain and pulls all the levers: Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances.

what are your thoughts on faith x willow?

Well, I obviously don't really see it as I didn't include it on my buffy verse ship breakdown. But since you point it out to me I don't think quite has the narrative value or inherit chemistry of something like Fluffy but I do think the fact that they both have such a focus on redemption post buffy season 6 they could defiantly do something interesting. I think that Faith and Willow have very different views on redemption and different views on relationships. Maybe they could balance each other out but I do think they would crash out. 5/10

Did I miss something in Season 5 of ATS, or do Fred and Gunn seem to act as if they never dated? This emotional distance between them makes no sense. They were still close after their breakup in Season 4.

In Unleashed, Gunn was jealous of Knox for 5 seconds, and that was it; their past romance was never brought up again until Wesley started dating her very late in the season.

What remains of the warmth and tenderness they once had is reduced to very subtle acting choices regarding their body language.

Either the writers took their resentment over the ending of Season 4 too far ("a turgid supernatural soap opera," according to Gunn), and decided to completely ignore a relationship that lasted longer than any of the other romances (2 seasons) and was the only healthy element of the show.

Either they withheld something about Gunn's contract with Wolfram & Hart: perhaps he asked them to release him from his feelings for Fred? Perhaps he wanted to pursue his new career and leave behind the girl to whom he lost his soul (see Double or Nothing when the debt collector asked to be paid), but who disappointed him so much? This would explain why Wesley's obsessive feelings for Fred seem to be the only constant.

I'm also thinking of Fred's sudden decision, after considering Knox as a potential love interest, to go out with Wesley, but only after she seemed to spend most of the season waiting for someone else to express their feelings. Harmony herself mentioned that unlike her, the others girls at the work place thought the two men fighting for Fred were Gunn and Knox. Some lingerering attraction must have been visible for so many people to gossip about them.

Gunn also seemed to express regret when he played that trick on Wesley in A Hole in the World and tried to make him believe that he and Fred had rekindled their relationship after a long night of talking.

The real payoff: Gunn's reaction after Fred's infection was big: he contacted the senior partners to offer his life in exchange for hers, he spent time in a parallel universe, tortured daily by a demon as payment for bringing the sarcophagus to Wolfram & Hart, until Illyria rescued him. But these facts further accentuated the contrast with his past indifference: if he loved her that much, he should have shown it sooner.

Like in that scene in Destiny where he had the opportunity to apologize to Fred for attacking her while he was infected, instead of ignoring her and focusing his regrets and apologies solely on Eve.

Or when he began to lose the effect of the chip/spell Wolfram and Hart had given him, Fred should have been the first to know about his fears and insecurities, and, as a scientist, she was in the best position to help him. This could have been the missing link to rekindle their bond.

Once again, something is missing, and aside from the fact that this season deprived us of precious scenes of their friendship, it's hard to say how much it would have changed the course of events if Gunn had been more open about his feelings.

person of interest is an insane show. god is real. she is a system of computer networks and cameras across the world. everybody is gay. all cops are dirty. the government is lying to you, muderous, and somehow effective, which we all know it isn't. murder! so much murder! gay bookworm. main character holds lesbian hostage to stop her from communicating with god, the computer. oh and there's a dutch killer dog.

The worst kind of BtVS discourse is about how Willow and Tara didn't pay rent, or anything along the lines of how the gang could have handled Buffy's financial situation better in season 6.

The only way to approach this question is from a Doylist perspective, you cannot blame Willow or Tara or Giles or anyone for the money problem because the POINT of season 6 is for Buffy to struggle with real-life, adult challenges. I.e. getting a job and paying bills. Willow, Tara, Giles... none of them were EVER going to solve Buffy's money problems for good because that's not the story the writers wanted to tell.

You have to understand BtVS as a narrative first and foremost, not as a collection of individuals you are tasked with passing judgment on. That's not the point of storytelling.

Because I have finished my Angel rewatch and I apparently I beg to have my opinions attacked on the Internet* I have decided to rate some** Buffyverse ships. Ships are presented in no particular order

* that is a joke please please don't at me or start a fight in the comments these are my opinions alone and I'm not attacking yours just stating mine

** these are literally just ones rattling around in my head so i'm sorry if i missed some that are like super important.

Some Canon classics:

Bangel: I see it for it's narrative importance. As someone who was once a teenage girl i do get the appeal. but despite liking some of the melodrama in this ship I wouldn't personally say I'm a fan or think this is end game but I do love some elements of it 6/10

Spuffy: again honestly not super my thing. I just don't know it doesn't compel me but I understand why it should be compelling. Rated higher than Bangel because it can coexist with Cangel 8/10

Ruffy: Listen I'm not against Riley I just think that by the end of their relationship there were a lot more problems than there were goodness. There are certainly ships I will forgive that for, in fact I do often love some toxicity but this is just not really in an entraining way. 2/10

Tillow: my loves my baby's my queens. the fact that tara was killed makes my blood boil to this day. Are mistakes made, yes but counterpoints "strong like an Amazon" "I will always find you" and "can't you just be kissinge now" 1000/10

Calandlies: I 100% understand it from a storyline point of view and they are very very cute I just can't give full credit cause they weren't actually together that long. 8/10

WillowxOz: They were cute and lovely for their time and place I do think that willow and tara were better fits for more than just the homosexual reasons. defiantly and formative ship for when i first watched the show as a middle/high schooler. 8/10

Willowx Kennedy: I get what they were trying to do on some level. And I also understand why people hate it. I'm pretty neutral on it. 5/10

Cangel: my doomed by the narrative babies. I love them so much. I think that they are probably the second best ship the buffyverse ever produced. Before anyone comes for me to say this isn't fully cannon cause they didn't like date (because joss Weadon hates happiness)- besties watch angel seasons 3-5. 20/10

FredX Gunn: My sweet lovelies. This might sound weird given Joss Wedon literally buried some gays to keep ships from getting a happy ending, but This is the clearest indicator to me that he can't stand having happy couples on his show. Like literally you could have had them fight and come back together and the would honestly be a better story. they just bring such a light to the show! 10/10

Fred x wesley: as you might tell from the above ship this is really not my thing. I love toxic wesley i really do but his obsession with fred hanging on once she was with gunn didn't fell like it was written with purpose. It felt creepy but not in like a purposely creepy way. Like maybe we were "supposed" to find two guys fighting over her endearing. Even when they actually got together in season 5 it never felt like they actually worked well as couple more like they felt like they should. 2/10

Spike x Drusila: Love a toxic vampire situation. Literally insane about each other. Some times I feel bad that druseilla was the only member of the 'fanged four' that stayed a bad bitch the whole series.10/10

Angel (us) x darla: divorced energy tm. even in the flashbacks were they are together they have such combative relationship. but in like a fun cool evil way you know? also like high key Oedipus coded, but in like a cool evil way you know? 7/10

Weslah: My beloved. After this rewatch I am obsessed with them. This ship is the epidemy of I love it on TV would never want to see it in real life. They should have been end game. I understand on some level why they aren't but like they did clearly were such good fits for each other and I just think that some of the best relationship lines on other show go to them. "The flames wouldn't be eternal if they actually consumed anything" is such a banger line. 15/10

Non-Canon in life, Canon in the people's hearts:

Spangel: The second best ship angle is a part of. If you don't understand what its about go watch angel season 5. If you still don't get it that's your right but buddy you're missing some great subtext. In some way this is the best ship for either of them because they both are eternal men who don't age so there won't ever be melodrama about age. 10/10

Fluffy: Its so good. And in a lot of ways it makes more sense than some of the stuff they shows actually do. I don't think they could live happily ever after but they would be good for a while. 10/10

Fred x Wesley x Gunn: I think this would work well in seasons 3 or in season 5. I don't really see a world were it survives in season 4. I think they all give big Bisexual energy and I personally think it would be a better balance than just welsely & Fred or just wesley & gunn. 9/10

Wesleyx Illyria: This lowekey eats. I would even say borderline cannon as Illyria is very clearly attached to wesley. and like ancient as time demon falls for this sad wet cat of a guy is so good. Its got some of the toxic banter I love with Weslah. Illyria is so queercoded which makes this ship so queer coded which is fun. 10/10

Gilezx Ethan Rayne: There is something about them that speaks to me. Like such good Lovers to enemies. That being said their best dynamic is as Exs which mean their actual ship rating has to go down. 8/10

Spander: So i'm pretty sure this is one of the more popular in terms of Ao3 numbers. I think one of the modern comics makes this canon but this post is really only about the show. And honestly yeah I see it. Xander probably would benefit from sleeping with men at least for a little. Not sure its something that speaks to me personally, but it could be fun in like a rivals way. 5/10

Fredx willow: I actually think this gives the nerd 4 nerd that angel tries with Wesley & fred better than wesley & fred do. I think they would be cute for a fling but not necessarily a long term deal. Although if none of their canon ships are options I could see it working out long term. 7/10

Person of Interest it is!

I am very excited My angel rewatch has caused me to fall in love with Amy Acker again! I also am excited to be back in a slightly more procedural format. I was looking back and it seems like I only have 2 seasons left to go so I think it will go pretty quickly.

And as a close runner up I will say that I'm working on getting both a DVD player and DVD's of The West Wing so that I don't have to pay for steaming service (Yay physical media!). No promises on that one though.

Propaganda under the cut

West wing--- I just really want to watch it. I've seen a few episodes and it just seems like the writing style is something i would enjoy. given that Americas current political landscape sucks ass I would love to watch a fantasy were politicians care even a little. I would have to pay for HBO (which i really shouldn't) or find a safe pirated version.

Buffy--- My favorite show of all time, been a hot second since I've done a complete rewatch and not just a few comfort episodes. Might be weird to go the beginning having just watched angel

Ture Blood---I like vampires and fantasy. feels like it might have some fun melodrama. I already have hulu (the day my Spotify student plan ends is the day I cry) which streams it.

CSI--- what i really liked it the first time and if i actually committed to all of it, it would take me a long time which means less decision paralysis in the future. I don't really have the desire (or correct streaming service) to watch the reboot seasons.

CSI Miami/ New York--- I don't know why I stopped watching them but I did. They were good so i should finish. I was about half way through each so it would take some time to finish both (was watching by watching a few of each back and forth in attempt to kinda line up any crossovers)

911 --- Again I liked it just fell off at some point. Its super popular on this websites so I do know some of the stuff that has happened. Would be one of the lighter options for me to watch.

Person of interest--- Again I really liked it when I was watching, I just kind of fell off the wagon a bit. But Amy Acker kills it in angel so I kinda want to see more of her.

Star Trek Next generation--- Stopped watching cause I no longer had access (my roommate in college had paramount plus) and I really loved it. Am a hug Deep space 9 fan (why that series out of all of star trek is a weird story) so would love to see more Miles O'Brian and Worf

Northern Exposure--- My dad has wanted me to watch this show since it became available. I do love Rob marrow on Numb3rs. It is apparently very light hearted and likely not anymore dated that buffy are star trek.
