Toon Link watched curiously as Sonic took the lead towards the World Garden, before nodding his head and following suit. He kept at a steady, excitable pace as he approached the World Garden. 

“I know I’ll find something here, then!” he beamed, heading inside.

The Ultimate Present: A Christmas Scavenger Hunt!

As Toon Link continued his swayed walk, hearing Sonic follow behind him. He was trying to imagine what sort of end this scavenger hunt would have, but he couldn’t come up with anything specific. Even still, it was a challenge! He liked that part alone.

Hearing Sonic groan behind him, he first turned to look, but didn’t see him there. Not even a second later, though, Sonic was in front of him, taking his hand, which surprised him a little.

“The fast lane? Is it safe, but fun?” he asked, curiously, eyes wide at Sonic.

Y’know… he kinda forgot how nice it was to hear people’s reactions to when he decided to take them on a supersonic ride. He wasn’t really sure if Toon Link had caught on to what he was planning on doing just yet. The blue hedgehog had to chuckle as his smirk grew wider. 

“It is! If you hang on tight!” 

“Ready to go at the speed of sound?!?”

Toon Link let out a yelp as Sonic burst forward, hardly able to let out another sound as he was pulled along at speeds previously thought impossible. This was crazy!

When Sonic stopped, Toon Link waddled back and forth a bit, trying to find his balance. His eyes were googled, bouncing all around in his little daze. After a short few moments, he shook his head and collected himself. It was a bit crazier than the hurricane spin, but in the end, it wasn’t something he couldn’t handle.

Once he felt okay to do so, he gave a short bow to Sonic, then gave a short snicker as he turned back towards the World Garden. “So the next step is in there?”

Toon Link hummed a couple notes as he placed the decorated the tank for Shelly. He placed some rocks, a fake sunken pirate ship, and a small hollow log. He specifically left room for a food dish right next to the log.

“Is this good?” he asked, looking over at Meta Knight.

Toon Link carefully poured until it reached the depth Meta Knight suggested, before pulling back and peering into the tank. He began to reach for the leaf litter and nearby decorations.

“Do you think Shelly will like this when it’s all done?” he asked, looking back at Meta Knight, watching him investigate the humidifier.

College started back up and it’s harder to get the exact time needed for all of this. “That sounds great, how much you do to for your town! It must be a big responsibility...but it seems like you can handle it well!”

Toon Link nodded a few times to Tetsuya, mostly to answer the returning questions, but also to show he was listening. He saw Tetsuya slowly look happier, and that was a good feeling. Toon Link liked spreading joy.

He was a bit surprised to be allowed to ask anything as well, leaving him wondering of a question for a few moments.

“Well, what’s it like being a mayor of a town? What kind of things do ya do?”

❝ What’s it like bein’ mayor, hmm? ❞ Tetsuya hummed for a moment, beads of sweat dropping down his forehead. ❝ It’s pretty.. Interestin’ to say the least. ❞ Running a hand through his hair, the brunette couldn’t help but let out a chuckle or two.

❝ In all honesty, it’s a lotta’ work. ‘Specially for someone like me. Y’see, we got this thing called public works projects. It’s like adding something to the town, like a bench or a fountain, but it cost’s a whole lotta’ bells. Then there’s the museum.. Whole other story, broski. ❞ A soft sigh passed through his lips a he spoke, trying his best to keep the mood cheery.

❝ But it can be pretty great, seeing people enjoy all I do for the town. ❞ He grinned, hands slipping into his pockets.

Success! Meta Knight was pulled in. Toon Link didn’t want to waste any time to let Meta Knight escape--he’d done that to opponents before, accidentally letting them escape while he tried to pummel them.

As soon as he had solid hold over Meta Knight, he let out a grunt as he tossed him up into the air, before following up with a swing of his sword, which further pushed him higher.

Making a small leap into the air below Meta Knight, Toon Link pointed his blade upwards, hoping to land another hit.

As soon as Toon Link saw Meta Knight move backwards, he dashed forward, thrusting out his hookshot to grab his opponent, hoping to toss him into the air with a quick slash.

He moved quickly, sliding a short distance along the floor as he did this. If his hookshot missed, he’d not only be left open, but also right in front of Meta Knight.

“Oh, okay Meta Knight!” Toon Link chimed, now attempting to tear open the soil bag. Once Meta Knight finished cleaning, Toon Link moved up towards the tank, and slowly began to pour the dirt into it.

“How much should go in?” he asked, still pouring slowly.

Toon Link laughed at the thought of Red trying to breathe fire, before smiling once more at the next compliment he received.

“I don’t know many others, well, any others, but I can say you’re the best Pokemon trainer I know, then!”

At this point, the amusement park was in sight, though they weren’t too close to it yet.

“Th-thanks!” Toon Link beamed, happy to be praised for his swordsman ship. He hoped Orca would be, or maybe is, proud of where he’s ended up.

“Well, you’re a Pokemon Trainer! Um…from what I know, most of the fighting in your world is done by Pokemon and not the trainers, so I think it’s okay that you don’t use a sword.”

He paused upon the question, smiling as he remembered his old days on Outset Island.

“I learned from the best swordsman in the Great Sea! Old Man Orca lived in my village, and he was super cool with a sword! He taught me all that I know with it.”

“Well, you’re right there.” Red said. “But I did know some Pokemon trainers that fought. Like I know a gym leader who was in a war! His name is Lt. Surge. He fought with his Pokemon in the war. And then there were Pokemon that trained with their trainers. I wish I could train with my Pokemon too. Though I don’t have any strength or abilities.”

Red smiled as he listened to Link talk about his teacher. 

“I’m sure if Old Man Orca could see you in the arena, he’d be really proud!”
