Happy Springfest ! For @springfest-rote, I have worked with the very talented @smoky-solitude who wrote an Illiad!ROTE fanfiction, The Ballad of Beloved.
What i like in the Illiad is the violence and Smoky did such a good job with the tragedy and the gore !
I did four fanart, one ceramic-inspired for the ambiance, and three to illustrate specific scenes of the fic : )
"i no longer wished to be a weapon" Fitz/Achilles refusing to go to war, Beloved begging him.
In Ballad of Beloved, Nighteyes dont bond with Fitz ! I especially love this scene that highlight both the similarities and the differences between Fitz and Achilles : D

Reviving this because this man loses his aging wife in Fool’s Assassin, and what is his first thought? That when she is gone, he’ll be left alone. If I didn’t spend 6 books in his head, it probably would’ve read as selfish. Fitz’s trauma-induced fear of abandonment strikes again, and it’s so intense it overpowers his love.
fitz loves molly but it’s more out of a childhood infatuation that he clings to. his relationship with molly is familiarity, a relic from a time he wishes he could return to, and hinges more on his need for physical attachment than emotional intimacy. but love is nuanced, and what he feels for the fool has never been as easy to categorize as romantic love, so it’s always “i love him as a friend” or as a man loves his fellow or what-have-you. it’s sad but i genuinely think any attraction fitz might feel for the fool is filtered through several layers of denial and avoidance
#i haven’t been making a lot of posts because i’m somewhere in between inhaling FA and deliberately procrastinating on new chapters#because i am not yet ready to be done with this series and if i really gave in i’d likely blow through the final trilogy in a weekend#anyway i knew the butterfly girl wasn’t the fool but the fact that fitz realizes he trusted her without question#solely because she resembles him which!!!!!#anyway i stopped just after she delivered her message#my current assumption is that the fool is mistaking bee for a son. she has to be the half white he’s talking about#and i guess someone’s hunting his kind. and it only took 15+ chapters for fitz to realize it#hobb is spectacular at making you as the reader feel ten steps ahead of the characters sometimes#anyway#so not prepared for what this book is going to throw at me next#‘beloved. i called him beloved’ had me frothing at the mouth#jupiterreads#fools assassin#fitz and the fool trilogy#fitz and the fool#fitzloved#rote spoilers
