9.15.18.2.11 9 Chuen 14 Mol [July 7] Lakamha, Bacal Highland I thought, now that I leave Lakamha, I may never return. I may never see my family again. Well, perhaps I will see some of them. But I Will be like the water that comes down from a spring deep in the heart of a mountain cavern. It can flow and seep and pool and cascade all the way down to the water lily fields, all the way down to the big river, all the way to the marshes and the great salt sea.... But it can never flow back uphill to its home. I will never forget Lakamha, even if Lakamha forgets me."

It looks like every fucking day we are seeing more and more people accusing Palestinian fundraisers as bots and/or scams. Holy fuck. How cruel and heartless can you be? It has been nearly 2 years into the accelerated genocide. You know should know at this point that many fundraisers are vetted through credible and reputable sources. It is a lifeline for families who are surviving bombardments, famine, and are constantly targeted when they are seeking extremely limited aid! As Al-Jazeera reports: "At least 105 Palestinians, including seven aid seekers, have been [martyred] and 530 injured in ['Israeli'] attacks across Gaza in the past 24-hour reporting period, according to the territory’s Health Ministry."
We have the power to help. Please consider donating and/or sharing my friend's, Suad, fundraiser! I have been speaking to her for almost a year now. She is the most kindest, patient, and resilient person, and I am honoured to know her as my friend. She is a computer engineer who has given birth to a baby boy named Khaled last year. He is one year old now, learning how to walk and talk, but he is suffering from intestinal and respiratory infections! She is also caring for her in-laws. Her mother-in-law needs knee replacement surgeries!
GFM has also terminated her fundraiser! If you have donated to her before, kindly request a refund and redirect to the one below! Chuffed is Pro Palestinian, and you can give as little as a dollar!

"I am Youssef, an 18-year-old young man, and my dreams and hopes vanished in an instant. My family’s house in Khan Yunis was destroyed, and I found myself and my family living in a displacement camp in Deir al-Balah, under the scorching sun, inside a tent swaying in the wind. I wake up every morning to the sounds of waves crashing on the shore, but they no longer mean anything to me—they only remind me of the freedom we lost and the life we once had..."
Hello everyone! As of writing this, Youssef is at $3,877 out of his EXTREMELY ACHIEVABLE $15,000 goal. He has only gotten eight don@tions in the past day. Youssef is asking for $15,000 to support himself and his family, mainly for medicine, shelter, and food, which are hellishly scarce as a manifestation of Israel's genocide. He is only 18 and he is responsible for his family's SURVIVAL. Please take the time to read Youssef's own words on his GFM page, as well as on his tumblr account, @yousefjehad3 . Read them, stare at them, process them. Let them truly sink in. Then, go to his fundr@iser and DON@TE. Every single coin you can spare counts, because everyone's small contributions will snowball into a massive one. None of these fundr@isers reached their goal because of one loaded don0r. It was always a group effort.
And, whether or not you're able to d0nate - SHARE, with your family, your friends, your groupchats, your tumblr followers, so that someone who can will have the chance to see it! If you are on Tumblr, you are able to reblog.
Don't ever think your contributions are useless. They provide material help and are expressions of care during impossibly dire times. Palestinians quantifiably cannot afford your apathy.
Youssef's GFM is vetted. He is shown on line 255 on the Vetted Gaza Evacuation Fundr@iser List by @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi.
(btw, I've heard that it's not a good idea to tag posts like this with terms such as correctly-spelled 'don@tions,' which is why I'm spelling things as such. I encourage you to refrain from tagging your reblogs with these terms just in case..)

Historical Indigenous Women & Figures [7]:
Indiana Juliana: a Guarani woman who, along with many other Indigenous women, was captured and sold into slavery during early colonial Paraguay. She is known for killing her slaver with poison and encouraged other Indigenous women to do the same. Elsie Allen: a prominent Chief, activist, and weaver of the Pomo who worked to preserve her cultural traditions and improve education and Native rights for her community. She is considered to have been one of the three most well known basketweavers in California. Agrippina Vaganova: a famed Armenian Ballerina who developed the Vaganova method, which remains a standard textbook for ballet instruction to this day. Che-Na-Wah: Hailing from the Yurok tribe and commonly known by her English name Lucy Thompson, she was an author who was first trained to become a spiritual leader, and served her community this way. In 1916, she became the first Native American published author in California, debuting her memoir which preserved cultural teachings of the Yurok in addition to criticizing Whites for over-fishing on Native Land, and directly expressing that violence towards Indigenous peoples of California as genocide. Reina Eva: known as the Last Queen of Rapa Nui, she was also one of the last women to have received traditional tattooing. She and her husband King Atamu Tekena experienced the Annexation of Rapa Nui to Chile. Teresa Magbuana: Indigenous revolutionary who took up arms against the Spanish, winning multiple battles, and took part in all three major resistance movements against all 3 colonizers within the Phillipines. She was often called the "Visayan Joan of Arc" Tjintji-wara: a Chief, alleged sorceress, and skilled tracker of the Mantuntara people in what is now called "Australia", she also resisted colonialism with her people by killing settlers' cattle that were drinking from and polluting the water on her people's lands while they were experiencing a severe drought. Her life experiences were recorded in a book and, at one point after she had returned home from a Christian mission that had treated her for an illness, she left saying, 'too much soup! Too much Jesus!' Tonita Peña: Also known by her traditional name Quah Ah, Tonita was was a prominent Pueblo artist who was raised by her aunt, a famed Pueblo artist in her own right, she heavily influenced social change within her community, and Euro-American views of Native American art. She refused to abide by gender restrictions at the time, while at the same time highlighted women's cultural significance within her art. Her son became a famous artist himself, and her art is featured in multiple prestigious art collections, including the American Natural History Museum.
part [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. Transphobes & any other bigots need not reblog and are not welcome on my posts.

For Native American Heritage Month, I thought I'd upload the only decent part of the abomination that is The New World film, which features a brief scene in which Cree actor Billy Merasty speaks Cree (here used as a substitution for the Powhatan/Pamunkey language, which has similarities to Cree), but this scene was never given any subtitles for what the actor was saying. Below is a transcription of what the actors are saying in Cree and English.
Billy Merasty: kîkwây ôma (what's this?) John Smith: The source of all evil. It excuses vulgarity, makes wrong right, debased noble. Merasty: ci metoni tipahikêwin ôma ("true payment for this?") "kitâpacihtân tâpiskôc (you use it just like they (the colonizers) see the day), kîsikâw isinâkwak (others see the day as thus). kiyomâ napew (continually a man.)" "tâpiskôc mîcitâw kîsikâw (just like you excrete on the day.), mâci-atâwâkêw ôta miyo-askiy (he starts to sell all this good land here)," ê-nakatamân namôy askiy (I'll never leave this land ), mamisîtotam! (he depends on it), ê-macihtwât (he is mean?), pisiskiwa paskiyawew. (he overpowers the animals over there)" "nisâkihtân ôma askiy (I love this land), tâpiskôc ê-sâkihakik nôhtâwiypân ekwa nikâwiypân (just as equally as I love my father and mother.). namôy ê-nakatamân ôma askiy (I'll never leave this land). (this last part I can't hear)
Note that Merasty is speaking a different dialect than me (and here I have transcribed the Y dialect equivalents of what I THINK I've heard) and is speaking quickly, and so there are some things I might've gotten wrong or misheard.

one of the things i've been frustrated with when running this blog is the lack of Native actors among all the hotties I showcase. so I was extra delighted to see this article in the New York Times, covering the career of stage actress Go-won-go Mohawk! while she didn't apparently work in films, she was an accomplished actress and playwright in the late 1800s who created her own plays where she dressed in drag and told stories of Native heroism. A very cool read, and an interesting lady to know about.
Here's a gift article on her that shouldn't be behind a paywall!

EMERGENCY: DON’T SKIP
Mahmoud’s family needs your continued attention!!
Despite the fact that I get notifications on this post every day, the donations don’t reflect it. Mahmoud (@ma7moudgaza2)’s fundraiser has slowed down dangerously. This cannot do.
Winters in Gaza are brutal, and Mahmoud, who has been campaigning painstakingly for months, needs your help to survive! He needs to reach his second short term goal of $2000 USD to provide for daily expenses, warm clothes and supplies, and most importantly basic needs like milk and diapers for his children!!
We cannot afford to let Mahmoud’s campaign stagnate. His situation is dire! Have some compassion and put yourself in his shoes! I promise you your money won’t go to waste, as he has 20 family members to provide for- 10 of whom are children!! No one deserves to live like this, without access to any basic needs- much less children!!
I hope the urgency of his situation is clear to you all! Please, please, please DONATE AND SHARE TO WHOEVER YOU CAN, mutuals, family and friends, whoever can help- as the smallest amount can go a long way to helping him reach his goal!!
EDIT: If you are facing issues with the GoFundMe, here is his PayPal link
Currently at $13,700 on the GFM. Let us raise at least $2k and help him reach $15,700
Apologies for the tag, let me know if you want to be removed:

My evidence for Wandering Spirit not being a comically evil warlord tyrant the way Canadian history likes to portray him:
Big Bear is, by comparison, held on a pedestal as being a peaceful Chief. He employed Wandering Spirit as his war chief. If Big Bear was so perfect & angelic & Wandering Spirit was so evil & violent & murderous, then why would Big Big continue to have him act as his War Chief??
He had multiple wives & slept with a number of other women. I have a hard time believing this guy could have an alleged bad reputation for evil but also have a number of women willing to sleep with him, as well as marry and then stay married to him
There's this Oral history of my reserve of when WS came through one time on his horse, and a large crowd walked alongside him shaking his hand, giving him gifts, and singing to him, and once again that doesn't happen to a man who supposedly has a reputation for being evil
For someone who supposedly was bloodthirsty, he only killed 8 White men during the Frog Lake massacre, 2 of which were priests, and the third was the Indian Agent who was using his power to starve Crees. & considering the other motivator being that Settlers were sexually assaulting Cree women, and this was corroborated by the Archbishop, I wouldn't be surprised if the other men he killed had something to do with that. Wandering Spirit & his men also took the hostages to Big Bear's community so that they would be safe there & they were given shelter. You'd think if he was so murderous, he would've just killed everyone
His last act before being executed was, according to legend, singing a love song to his wife (probably his favorite or principal/first wife)
This dude was defended multiple times by Tyrone Tootoosis, a descendant of Yellow Mudblannket, brother of Poundmaker (who was known for being a peacemaker). This guy has oral history from that era and i don't think he'd have defended Wandering Spirit so much if he was actually as evil as history likes to portray him

Free Sal Khan from ICE
Tumblr media
i'm making this post on behalf of a friend's friend who's been detained by ICE and is facing torturous treatment in solitary confinement.
if you're in America, please sign the petition:
copy-pasted from the page:
Muhammad Salman Khan, known by their community as Sal, was unjustly detained by ICE in early May. Sal is an openly queer journalist and political refugee from Pakistan who is seeking asylum in the U.S. for their human rights activism. We are calling on our community to help us demand Sal's release from Plymouth County Correctional Facility, and an end to all detainments by ICE! Sal is a LGBTQ activist and journalist from Pakistan.  Sal (he/they pronouns) was born and raised in Abu Dhabi, UAE, moved to Karachi, Pakistan at a young age and lived there for the majority of their adult life.  He came to the United States in 2019, and applied for political asylum in fear of persecution and torture in Pakistan for being an openly gay activist and journalist. He is also part of the politically persecuted, Urdu speaking, Mahajir community. "As a transgender person in Pakistan, embracing my identity has been incredibly challenging. I am profoundly thankful for Sal's unwavering motivation and empowerment from a very young age. I vividly remember his exact words: 'You can get your rights here; that's why I always support you, but I am not celebrated here.' His support has been a cornerstone of my journey, and now I am reaching out to support him in return. A brother who has been there for his sister equally deserves protection, security, and justice. Please help us and support me in this call to get justice for my brother. Your support matters."- Aradhiya Khan, Sal's sister
Sal has always given back to his community. Sal is an active community member belonging to many organizations, including the Asian American Resource Workshop (AARW) in Boston. Over the past two years, Sal's involvement with AARW has included participating in the Activist Training Institute, Podcast team, and the Queer & Trans Asian Pacific Islander caregiving workshop series. He is a past twice elected member of Massachusetts Commission on LGBT Youth, and before his detention he was doing community service work in Boston. Sal is an asylum seeker, but ICE still considers Sal “illegal” in the U.S. Sal was detained on May 7. They are currently incarcerated at Plymouth County Correctional facility with little access to the outside world and under increasingly debilitating conditions.  After being detained, Sal was placed in solitary confinement, a cruel and traumatic punishment. ICE often places queer detainees in solitary confinement under the guise of “safety” but we know that this is a way to compound and escalate the violence of detention. Sal was released from solitary but we are deeply concerned for Sal's mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. We need to move for them now!  Their first important immigration court hearing is June 10.  Please help us show Sal that their community loves them and are with them, and we will fight for their release along with all others suffering from the violence of our criminal legal and immigration systems!  Sign this petition to show your support and demand Sal's freedom from detention!

BUFFALO CALF ROAD WOMAN // WARRIOR
“She was a Northern Cheyenne woman who saved her wounded warrior brother, Chief Comes in Sight, in the Battle of the Rosebud in 1876. Her rescue helped rally the Cheyenne warriors to win the battle. She fought next to her husband, Black Coyote, in the Battle of the Little Bighorn that same year. She was credited with striking the blow that knocked Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer off his horse before he died.”
