The Grand Canyon was once a stream in a ditch , the Eiffel Tower was culled of the most common ore and yet it stands exceptional with no minced words. Lay your foundations securely, and with keen eyes. And use your own mind.

Little edit from a series I directed last year. The creators and I were tired of seeing the same format with dog training shows. Cramming a bunch of useless footage into a 45min window didn't appeal to us since we knew that building a relationship with your dog takes more than that. Fake drama, lame music, and awful editing was not what we wanted to do. So we filmed a show how we thought it should be filmed. Check it out @taketheleadwithmaryhirt

Life in the jungle OR get a leg up on your day.

When I was young I wanted to fight. I fought my teachers and their lessons. I fought my parents and their rules. I fought my ancestors and anything else. I fought what I perceived to be the system. The masses. I was angry. I fought not because I hated those things, but because I didn't understand those lessons. How could I with a child's mind? I resisted those things because I could not see a place for me with them. Yet for all my rebellion, for all my petulance and ignorance and brashness my teachers all tried again, my parents took deep breaths , my elders and mentors all took the time to ensure the hand that guided me through that isolated and tumultuous time was steady with reason. They knew what lay ahead and instead of beating back and condemning my assertions, I was instead nurtured to grow. - Davis Bell 2015.

Thinking of so many things tonight. Loyalty. Strength. Doubts. Wondering about my empathy. My strength. Wondering if my actions resound in the thoughts of others.... Or am I acting out someone else's plan. This has been a week of checking ego, of re-evaluation, of searching the importance of relationships. This is a week of things that I should apply to all my weeks. For those of you, friends, strangers, digital acquaintances, let's not get too caught up in this curation of posturing.
