Guys guys. We don't want Carmy meeting Emmanuel for the first time when he's all sick and Syd is a shipwreck. Carmy has repeatedly, season after season, been obsessed with what Syd's dad thinks and says about stuff. He asked twice to be there with her at the hospital and she turned him down twice. She's setting appropriate boundaries for this stage in their relationship, and good for her.
Syd met Carmy's mom and it went as beautifully as it possibly could have.
Carmy can meet Syd's dad when that tweaked-out little line cook has fucking earned the privilege, which has not happened...yet.

i honestly loved the bear s4 and it's lowkey annoying that no one can talk about anything but claire. yes she was there. yes it was kinda annoying. can we talk about literally anything else that happened this season ??? everyone's acting was amazing. we got a sydney-centric episode. richie had even more development this season, with frank and tiff but also how much closer he's gotten with sydney. luca staged. marcus had an entire arc with his dad and then got recognised by food & wine. we got to see a lot more of donna this season (and got a deeper glimpse into her dynamic with carmen,. especially in e9). the staff of ever are now working at the bear. tina gained more confidence as a chef. there were so many parallels and references to previous seasons (eg. richie's panic attack in the same spot as both sydney and carm, sydney's cooking show nightmare like carmen's from the s1 finale) and dont even get me STARTED on the acting and writing in the finale. everyone was incredible throughout so why can no one online do anything but complain
#i haven’t finished but i am sick if all the claire grumbling#thank you#the bear season 4#i’m liking it#the bear#the bear fx#the bear hulu#the bear disnsey+

I'm not a The Bear fan, but my 1 low-level opinion over there is that sydcarmy is never gonna be a thing the way pro-fans expect. My meaningless, unpopular opinion (probably not) is that show doesn't work as an explicit build-up to epic love story, and romance in general can never be a focal point (yes, I know Claire exists & that relationship seemed boring too, and idek if they got together, but Marcus as well). But they create characters like these, so they can separate the work-life and personal one, and to keep the main cast as one vs the less-developed side characters (whether that's a "right" decision or not idc; i'm just saying what i've observed). Sydcarmy was never intended to be a romantic possibility, but if they do fulfill that fan wish, i'm pretty confident it'll be explored more open-ended and it will be more subtextual. Sydcarmy, if they even become a thing, might not even kiss (or it'll be towards the very end of the show/a 1-scene-showing that follows-up with subtle relationship milestones that rarely includes physical touch-whichever comes first). imo

you dislike claire because she's, allegedly, an obstacle for sydcarmy going official — I dislike claire because she's completely forgetful and unnecessary for the plot. every decision they take with her made her be disliked. you can recreate every single scene she has with another existing character and it'll be more meaningful.
and she could be something, you know? she had potential but... yeah. anyway. i'm just rumbling.

Glad they had this moment. He’s always wanted to just be her friend.
All right, well… I’m thinking about you. And, you know, if you need anything, uh, just let me know, okay? I will.

All Hail Richonne
With the way so many showrunners have fumbled BW/WM interracial pairings over the year I will ALWAYS give TWD their 10s for doing the right thing and making Richonne canon.
They didn't take the cowardly way out by pairing Rick and Michonne with other typical nonsensical characters. They put on their big girl/boy drawers and gave the people what we've been seeing and wanting all along in a way that was authentic to the overall story of the show.
That's why they will always be my number 1 OTP!

I sincerely believe this is the best move for now. And it’s not about Claire. Maybe he will try with her thinking now that he’s “free” it’ll work but he’s wrong which is fine. He should. It’s unfinished and he knows he wasn’t in 100%. Makes sense he’d want to give it a chance because that’s what kind of person he is.
What this is all about though, is Carmen doing something for himself, about himself with joy and understanding and peace being his motivation and goal. He taking himself off the board. He believes he’s the problem. He’s tried so hard and nothing has changed, so he’s taking a leap.
Ultimately, he’s the only one who can love himself enough to find the truth beneath all that grief and self-recrimination.
I think he’s finally making the right moves to get to ending he’s been yearning for— peace and calm.
My one and only prediction for the bear season 4 came true and I hate it lmaooooo
Is it too early to mention this or? Unfortunately this was what the show was building too. Do I have to like it though? Absolutely not. (I started watching the bear in December 2024 and wrote this in feb 2025)

So you know how people try to say "why can't they just be friends" for ships they don't like? Do you have any thoughts on why Richonne works better as a romance than a good friendship?
Thanks for this question! ☺️ And sorry it took me a bit to reply. I truly don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say there are hundreds upon hundreds of reasons Richonne was destined to be more than a good friendship and thrive as a romanctic pairing.
If I had to sum it up succinctly, I think the reason Rick and Michonne’s story works better as a romance than a friendship is because the two of them falling in love gave them a huge personal win in life.
They truly are each others gift in this world. And while surviving, building community, & establishing a secure home, are all big wins, they’re also shared wins with the rest of the group. Rick and Michonne finding and falling in love with each other and getting to be husband and wife gave them both an exclusive win. They’re two characters who pour so much into others. They deserved a reward that was just for them, and they got that by getting to enjoy an exclusive romance with each other, where they’re known, held, & supported more intimately than just staying friends.
And some major reasons Richonne were always going to be more than friendship is because Rick and Michonne are magnets & just staying friends would limit their clear longing to experience every part of each other. Rick built friendships with a lot of people throughout the series and even just seeing the difference in how he was with Michonne pre-canon showed he wanted to build more than that with her. They valued being partners in crime but they also lit up at just getting to be in each others presence for the quiet everyday moments too, and wanted a life that allowed them to have the others presence around everyday. Rick and Michonne loved all their friends in the group. The difference in Richonne’s dynamic with each other is that their love also was so infused with desire. A desire to be as together as possible. And I’m glad that’s exactly what they got to be. 🩷

Men with babies usually make my skin crawl but this was sweet and honestly I just love all things Luca anyway (sue me🤪).
And while I’m also a tad indifferent to Carmen’s “issues” (he has so many my heart can’t break for everything) I couldn’t help but think he really did think about what having his own children and being a father would like be for him. Like Mikey, I think he’s cancelled certain things out about his life and fatherhood is one but then his niece shows up and he can’t stop staring at her.
Carmen is the king of yearning in this show and it’s written all over his face— could he have that one day? What would it be like?
He’s so scared of everything— feelings that don’t include worthlessness and anger like hope or desire, joy— it’s hard not to feel for him in this moment.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present you episode 6 of season 4 of the The Bear. Christopher Storer, I see what you did in there. And it worked, man. IT WORKED. It was a delight to watch.

Michonne serving body in the most random scenes of The Walking Dead is astonishing. They could be fighting a herd of walkers, covered in guts, and she would still be serving. Big shout out to Sharon Bialy for casting Danai Gurira.
