Happy July - We’re almost there!
Hi everyone - we’re less than three weeks away from the BBQ/Wine Event!
I’ve tried to reach out to everyone to fill out a form: to confirm your attendance, along with getting info to help with ordering food & drink.
In addition, if you are interested in a T-Shirt, please use the form to let me know what size.
Finally, the link below SHOULD work - but I’ve been having some issues with forms @ Google - so feel free to just reach out at [email protected] or [email protected]
Thanks!

Thank you MacVoices!
A huge thanks to Chuck Joiner for having me on MacVoices to talk about the Midwest Mac BBQ and Wine Event. It’s always great to catch up with Chuck - and it’s been far too long since we last chatted. Looking forward to seeing him and hopefully you (yes, YOU) at the BBQ.

Places To Stay and Ride Shares
I hope you are ready to make plans to attend the Midwest Mac BBQ and Wine Event!
Do you need a place to stay? There are lots of hotels within ten minutes of the event. I recommend staying in the Rosemont or Des Plaines areas for easy access.
Ride shares from O’Hare (or these hotels) will be minimal in cost and usually very quick to respond since they tend to cluster near O’Hare.
Ride share pro tip: if flying into O’Hare, I’d recommend taking the tram from the terminals to the “multi-modal facility” or whatever fancy name it has this week. It’s outside of the main airport so traffic is better and sometimes you can save a few $ € as well for ride shares. If renting a car, you’ll likely end up here as well.

More on the Midwest Mac BBQ / Wine Event
A huge thank you to Mike Potter for having me on his “For Mac Eyes Only” monthly stream on 24 March 2023. I’m excited to kick off the Macstock VII “Weekend” by having a party at my place (near O’Hare Airport) on Thursday, 20 July, 2023.
The event will start roughly around 2:00PM CDT - but if you arrive earlier no worries - just let me know ahead of time and we’ll accommodate you.
How late will we go? Those that have been there can attest I don’t like saying goodbye so you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
What will we have? Good times and food. Specifically for food - BBQ! Want something vegetarian or vegan? Other allergies? Please let me know.
What about drinks? In the past, it was a variety of juices, water, soft drinks and all sorts of beers. This year - in addition to those - I’ll be hosting several wine tastings through the late afternoon and evening.
Why wine? As some of you may know, I’ve relocated out to San Francisco for work. It’s an amazing opportunity, but I left my home and heart in Chicago (and my favorite baseball team, the White Sox!) I have enjoyed traveling to Napa regularly to do research and have really gone “all in” on the wine scene. I’d love to share some of the wines I’ve discovered and do informal (or formal) tastings.
Please let me know if you are interested in attending the MWMacBBQandWine Event!
Best bet is to email me at [email protected] or [email protected]
Updates will be on barryfulk.com
Can’t wait to see y’all!

Thursday’s Tentative Itinerary
Meet at 2:00pm at Lincoln Park Zoo (specific location TBD). We’ll spend two to three hours there. From there, we’ll walk/Lyft/Uber/drive/etc. to Michigan Avenue. We’ll start at the South end by the River and the Apple Michigan Avenue Flagship Store.
From there, we will head north, see beautiful buildings, shops, restaurants and the only building to survive the great Chicago fire, the Water Tower.
At some point, we’ll grab food and then when done, head up to the 96th Hancock Observatory Lounge (adults only) to watch the sunset over Chicago.

Thursday’s Events
Hello again everybody!
So if you are coming to Macstock, you should check out some of the pre-conference events!
As noted below, we are going to do a special White Sox baseball event on Wednesday which should be a blast. Space is limited so please let me know if you’re interested as we will be closing it out next week. “Tickets” are $99 for the game, stadium club access, on field event and more!
Thursday will be free (food/drinks on your own) but will be a blast!
We’ll start in the early afternoon with a photowalk hosted by the awesome Wendy and Wally Cherwinski. We’ll meet at Lincoln Park Zoo to see some of the finest zoos in the U.S.
After, we will head to downtown Chicago to visit the Apple Store, Chicago River and the Magnificent Mile.
Hungry? So are we! We’ll do dinner at one of the local treasures and then, before the sun sets, we’ll head up to the 96th floor of the John Hancock building’s lounge. We’ll grab a drink and look at the beautiful city of Chicago as the lights glow and the sun hides underneath the horizon. Note: this portion is adults-only as it’s a bar.
That will end the evening officially, although you never know what will happen!
