AGE: 30+ (apparent age of early thirties) || OCCUPATION: Bartender, magical underworld contact || SPECIES: Human Magic || PB/FC: Bridget Regan or Yvonne Strahovski suggested, but open
SUMMARY: Eve’s contact in the magical underworld and someone she trades favors with. Works out of a bar on Knockturn Alley that serves as a front for a wide network of extralegal activities, sort of a midlevel crime lordy info broker type. The two of them met back when Eve was still a much lower-level auror, and while Eve isn’t nearly as corrupt as she used to be, the two of them still trade favors and there’s the occasional kickback or two in exchange for some advice or a tip-off. Relationship is open apart from that, but someone to balance out the more destructive and obsessive Eve/Sophia thing would be welcome, and come with its own tension. I don’t know, I’m leaving most of this open. Also, I kinda stole some of this from John Wick a bit and just smooshed two characters together, so there’s that.

CHARACTER BASICS
Name: Lillian King Date of Birth: Place of Birth: England Actual Age/Age of appearance: 32 Marital Status: Single Sexual Orientation:  Heterosexual Pronouns: she/her Religion: None Health details: No Allergens Occupation: NTSCO Agent; Muggle Liaison to Ministry of Magic
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Height: 5’-8” Eye Color: Soft Brown Hair Color/Style: With a natural wave, Lillian’s blonde hair falls down to end just below her shoulders.  She’s long given up the attempt to tame it straight as any amount of humidity pops it back up, regardless of the amount of product used   Aesthetic/Style: Functional; Lillian doesn’t seem all that concerned with fashion. A pair of skinny jeans or slacks, a button down blouse, sturdy laced up boots, and away she goes.  She prefers darker colors over lighter ones for her wardrobe as it makes them more versatile. Play-By Used: Margot Robbie
BACKGROUND AND CHARACTER
Personality
A whole lotta passion in a small package.  Lillian follows her heart and her gut before following her head.  It’s been met with a lot of resistance by others over her life, but it’s never failed her.  She’s willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, but only so far.  Her work is her life and means everything to her.
History
Lillian grew up in a household that revolved around family and the law.  Both of her parents had been in law enforcement which meant she and her brother were continuously shuffled from one’s guidance to the other,  and then to her aunt’s and uncle’s home.  They weren’t actually related by blood, but were close enough, that the family bond was fostered and just as strong as if they had been.  She and Scott were raised amongst her numerous cousins and never lacked in love.
Unfortunately, early in life, disaster struck in that the kids lost both of their parents in short order.  Though not much is known about what had caused the explosion that took both Jacob and Nora King’s lives, the children no longer had their parents.  Rather than be sucked into the system, Scott and Lillian moved in with their aunt and uncle.  The loss of her parents was a big factor in why she went into Law Enforcement, particularly the NTSCO.
It had been a shock to discover that her own grandmother had been liaison at one point in her life, though it did explain quite a lot about how Lillian had been brought up.  She had been raised to question the world she saw around her, and having a naturally inquisitive nature helped.  Both she and her brother had taken to it like a fish to water.  But Scott was different.  He was harder than his younger sister, more concerned with control, and as a result would have been completely unsuited for the position.  He had trouble accepting what he couldn’t understand.
Thinking of her brother automatically brought the image of Marilyn to mind.  A tightening in her chest formed, but her face remained stoic in response.  She had been her partner, her sister in everything but blood, and she had been lost to them.  Lillian’s brother had been dating her for a time and though Marilyn had been able to tame many of Scott’s controlling tendencies, he had done them in at the end.  The relationship had been a rocky yet passionate one, and though Lillian had supported them, she had always suspected it wouldn’t last because she had never been able to see how it could have.
After Marilyn’s death, her brother had spiraled.  He’d needed to take a leave from MI6 where he worked as a result, and in Lillian’s opinion, still wasn’t over her loss.  The blonde couldn’t fault him for that because in all actuality Lillian wasn’t over her passing either and it had been nearly two years.  The result was that Lillian had thrown herself into her work.  She travelled almost constantly, often times hiring a housekeeper to look after her place and ferrets.  Most people didn’t realize how social of creatures they were, and so she had literally hired someone to spend time with them in her absence.  She was single with no real kids of her own, and so in Lillian’s mind, it had been money well spent.
About three months before she’d met with Director Ingham for the first time, she’d been called into her first round of interviews for the muggle Liaison position.  Of course she hadn’t known what it was, she only knew that it was for a long term assignment and highly specialized.  It had taken three months of interviews and testing before she’d finally been awarded the posting, and much to her surprise, it had changed not only her life but her entire world.

CHARACTER BASICS
Name: Atticus Finn Henry Goes by: Finn Date of Birth: April 3rd, 1983 Place of Birth: Blackburn, Lancashire, England Actual Age/Age of appearance: 35 Marital Status: Single Sexual Orientation:  Heterosexual Pronouns: Him/his Health details: Howls at the moon once a month, wolfsbane and silver allergy Occupation: Auror
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Height: 6-1” Eye Color: Shifts from a dark blue to a gray, sometimes a light brown Hair Color/Style: It’s a mess.  It’s in between “past due for a trim” and “Celebrity gelled chic”. The color is an unremarkable brown, though thankfully it hasn’t started to pepper through with gray just yet, though Finn is sure it’s bound to happen any day now. Aesthetic/Style: Everything about Finn screams that he just doesn’t give a damn, from the way he can’t seem to reliably find time (or desire) to shave to the worn look of his clothes.  He wears jeans and scuffed up, dark brown leather boots, bucking the trend that many wizards cling to with wearing robes. Other: Has a series of muggle tattoos all over his body, ranging from his cheat to his arms and shoulders as well as his back.   Play-By Used: Tom Hardy
BACKGROUND AND CHARACTER
Personality
As casual and relaxed as Finn might seem on the outside, he’s a bit of a powder keg of emotion on the inside.  History has not taught him to trust those around him and as a result, he has little in the way of a tribe to confide in.  He’s a loner by nature, but actually achieve his respect and you’ll have his loyalty for life.
He’s very much the “Lover ‘em and leave ‘em” type, lacking any kind of healthy and stable relationship in his life.
Now, with his latest evolution, he’s even more unpredictable and only holds onto who he is and what he believes in with the most precarious of grips.
History
Finn’s life started as many of the others did in the Wizarding World.  He came from a pureblood wizarding family and attended Hogwarts when the time came.  He wasn’t from an overly emotional family, rather his was one that kept mostly to themselves.  His parents were historians and authors, dedicating themselves to the past rather than the future.  So dedicated were they, that Finn had actually been an accident. He had never been dreamed of and longed for before his birth.  As a result, he had lived a comfortable yet lonely childhood. There was nothing wrong with that, it was merely the way it was. As a result, he had essentially depended on himself for anything and everything.
Unsurprisingly he was sorted into Slytherin, even if he did share many similar traits with his Gryffindor peers.  While at school, he was an average student, though excelled in his Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts classes.  It was during this time, that he started down the path to become an animagus. When he’d finally achieved it, he’d become nothing more than a black fox.
His form might have been slightly bigger than the average fox, but when compared to many of the other animals that animagus became, it was still rather small.  Even so, it was the start to his life. He excelled in secrecy, traveling about the school and grounds when he shouldn’t, and rarely was found in his bed in the middle of the night.  He loved slinking around and learning all he could about the inhabitants of Hogwarts. It was on one such trip that he had actually attempted to get into the Headmistress's office only for the professor to call him out by name from a darkened corner of the hall.
He’d had no idea how she could have managed to sneak up on him, but then that was why she was a professor and he a third year.  Finn had been thrown into detention for the rest of the year, and reported directly to the Headmistress herself. During that time, he worked for her, completing activities geared towards strengthening his skills.  By the end of the year, Professor Mcgonagall had raised one of the finest animagus that she had ever taught, and an unregistered one at that.
She should have forced him to register.  That was after all the law, but Minerva had always left that up to him to decide.  The result of which was that Finn would always be loyal to the Headmistress.
After completing his time at Hogwarts, Finn had naturally joined the ministry to become an Auror, where he excelled.  He was a perfect fit for the job in everything but authority. Not respecting it, he flaunted directives and followed what he wanted to.  He was too open, too risky for the Director’s liking, though mostly Ingham simply couldn’t accept that he couldn’t control the loose cannon of an Auror.  That made Finn dangerous.
As time went on, Ingham sought every opportunity he could to write Finn up, hoping to run him out of the Ministry, but the write-ups never stuck.  They were never enough to truly expel him, and only warnings were received. That was of course until of course he finally screwed up.
The case had been simple: track the shipments and stop them.  Some witch or wizard had been shipping out charmed items and selling them to the muggles to the detriment of the non-magical people and also violating the Statute of Secrecy.  Unfortunately, what had originally seemed like a large scale operation had actually turned into an entire organized black market ring made up… of muggles. And the wizard behind it?  Was actually a squib. This threw Finn for a loop. He had no jurisdiction over the muggles, and the squib had literally just been a thief that had stolen the items he sold. He’d raided vaults and homes of wizards that had been lost after the time of the Dark Lord and quite literally sold the items he had acquired to the muggles.  No witches or wizards had been involved that he had seen.
Seeking to put an end to the entire thing, Finn had taken it upon himself to right the wrongs, but it had all quite literally blown up in his face.  While trying to take the squib into custody, his muggle lackies had broken in and Finn had been forced to fight back instead of apparate out of there.  A massive clean up effort had needed to be called in and Finn’s failure had been blanketed across the Wizarding World’s news outlets.
As a result, he’d been suspended without pay.  The investigation had come up with what The Ministry had wanted to find and Finn was found to be at fault, even though none of it had made sense.  He’d followed the trails, found the facts, but in the end, it hadn’t added up, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had been set up. Though Ingham had pushed for the wizard to be fired, he’d managed to keep his job, with what he assumed was help from his own powerful backers, but relegated to a life of odd jobs and desk work.
He felt like he’d flushed his job down the pisser and had started seeking out his own work on the side.  Though still titled as an Auror, he was considered the lowest of the low, but still used his position to get his job done.
Unfortunately for him, Finn’s life didn’t get any easier after that.  It had been two years since he’d essentially been demoted, about six months before the Task Force was set to commence, and he’d come onto the trail of a rogue werewolf that had been terrorizing a small village in Turkey.  Knowing that he wouldn’t be missed, Finn had gone after it, and succeeded in putting it down, but not before it had earned a small victory of its own during the fight. Atticus Finn Henry has been bitten by a werewolf and had kept it secret from the Wizarding World.
He’d become scruffier, more prone to emotional outbursts, but thus far, his secret had remained safe.  When the opportunity to join the Task Force has come up, it had been Minerva McGonagall who had convinced him to sign up. She still believed in him, and not wanting to let her down, Finn had obliged.

This game is set in 2018, just outside of London in Hampstead Heath, at the Kenwood House, which is a former stately home on the northern boundary of Hampstead Heath. The Task Force is spending 4-6 weeks training in order to learn how to prevent and to stop magical exposure. Since the threat level is still moderate, there is time to prevent a state of emergency on all Wizard Kind. To muggles, the Kenwood House is closed for extensive renovations.
This is one of the many Task Force branches across the world.
This training period is very much like boot camp. Task Force members will rise early to train. They will follow strict rules. There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations!
Rooms will be shared. Aurors do not stay at the Kenwood House themselves, but there is always someone on duty during the night! House elves might take care of food and general maintenance, but this is not a vacation! This isn’t Hogwarts. No one will be coddled!
Task Force members have committed to the cause from the moment they turned in their applications. For some, this is a second chance to prove that they’re worth something. For others, it’s a chance to make a difference in the world. Those who seek to go against the Initiative will be confronted with consequences.

Spouse Want Ad
Tumblr media
AGE: Late 20s, Early 30s || OCCUPATION: Open, but lives on a country estate in Scotland || SPECIES: Open, but humanoid || PB/FC: Open
SUMMARY: Alter and her spouse met sometime near the end of her tenure as a Hit Wizard, a little before the Summerisle Massacre. I leave most of this open, but her spouse basically broke off an engagement to go get eloped in Scotland to a retired Auror and kind of shares a lot of Alter’s eccentricities and habits including reading, studying a lot of hexes and curses, caring for magical creatures, and some other stuff. Everything else is up to you, though I would prefer some tension over Alter coming out of retirement and concern for what that would do to her.

CHARACTER BASICS
Name: Her Grace Alter Ingrid Meira, Baroness of Greenock and Blackhall Date of Birth: May 1, 1985 Place of Birth: Petah Tikva, Israel Actual Age/Age of appearance: 34/30 Marital Status: Happily married Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, female leaning Pronouns: She/Her Religion: Pagan Health details: Undiagnosed mental issues regarding empathy, untreatable dysmorphic and aging issues due to repeated and prolonged exposure to dark magic, mild nearsightedness in her left eye Occupation: Former Hit Wizard (retired), task force member, head of estate for the Barony of Greenock and Blackhall
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION (OR WRITE A COUPLE PARAGRAPHS)
Height: 6’ Eye Color: Dark brown Hair Color/Style: Dark brown Aesthetic/Style: Tweed, 1910s-20s vintage, hunting clothes and “country attire,” a rocks glass with two centimetres of scotch at the bottom, rolling green hills, a disappearance in a crowded nightclub, a cold night with two people grasping each other tightly Other: There were some tattoos, no one’s sure where they went. Play-By Used: Gal Gadot
BACKGROUND AND CHARACTER
It was all decided for her.
When her mother took her at barely six months and moved with her pagan collective to Alonissos in the Sporades to be one with nature and worship in her own way, it was all Alter knew. She was happy growing up among the mothers and daughters of Alonissos, among the magical creatures and the various wildlife of Greece. The magic they did through rituals and understanding, the education, all of it was intense, but also highly supportive.
And then the representatives came.
Israel is still located in something of an active area, the result of numerous magical conflicts, mythology, and traditions that spread out from the cradle of civilization. At eighteen, all eligible birth citizens are required to do at least one year’s service with the Wards, a defensive unit designed to protect the nation from the numerous human and otherwise magical threats. As several of Mater Meira’s adherents were originally from there, their daughters had come of age and were to serve their time in the Wards. They could resist, but that would mean a standoff and an incident with the wizarding government of Israel. So Alter and the other daughters left their land for their “homeland” and an uncertain fate.
It was odd, her tour. Alter and her “sisters” had never been so close to dark magic, and the intense environment tended to warp things, to say nothing of the near-constant culture shock both from a new home and significantly different demographics from the all-woman island. With her advanced aptitude, Alter managed to transfer from active duty to combat instruction, training Wards for their field missions and active defense rather than being on the lines themselves, but after an incident involving an uncontained dybbuk left her base short-staffed and Alter and her students having to buy time until help arrived, she was transferred back into defense operations. Out of a desire to care for her squadmates and defend her current home, she ran two years on city defense, pushing herself further into danger so those with her would be less affected. It had a profound effect on her both physically and mentally, and at the end of it, she counted down the days and left.
With a desire for anywhere else, Alter traveled around and learned what she could as she went, backpacking her way north through Asia, into Russia, and then west into Europe, never settling down, never quite figuring things out until, after a year or two of travel, she reached England. She was out of money and didn’t have many friends, just an odd command of the language and her magical talents, but with the world still reeling from encroaching darkness, she wanted to help where she’d be most useful, got a work visa, and took the civil service exam for the Ministry.
Halfway through the exam, she was removed when a background check pulled up her Wards service. She was instead brought in front of the Aurors, interrogated for about six hours as to why she was in the country until they were sure she wasn’t a spy, and offered a choice: Immediate deportation, or a chance to work with the Ministry and correct some of the numerous pockets of dark magic that had gone wrong. With no other options, Alter accepted, was issued full immigration status under the name “Ingrid Meyer,” and was sent to train with a squad of four other wizards to become a Hit Wizard.
For years, that was her life. She had a normal life, hung out with work colleagues, and was bright and effervescent as can be, committed to living life to the fullest every step of the way outside of work. When they were on assignment, though, two things happened:
First, no matter what, if any of the other four ran into trouble, Alter would immediately put herself between them and whatever it was. Didn’t matter if it was horrifying fungus, curses, or anything, on assignment Alter considered her squad under her wing and you did not mess with anyone she cared for. The second thing was that she was oddly able to turn herself off. She almost became another person, like someone flipped a switch, able to do absolutely anything and everything to get the job done. It was honestly a bit scary, even to the ministers above her, and some even quietly whispered that they were sending her team on more dangerous assignments in the hopes that she might be rotated out.
And it was her last assignment, of course, that would prove the straw that broke the camel’s back. It was supposed to be routine, a simple raid on a small agrarian island, round up the blood cultists and off to Azkaban, but someone was tipped off, and someone knew her hit squad’s playbook, right down to Alter. It turned into first a hostage situation and then an all-out siege, a massive and unpleasant skirmish through the dark woods with no way off the island. The strength of curses and dark magic warped the land itself, and at the end while the cultists were finally defeated, it was at great cost to the Ministry.
Alter, of course, was immediately taken off of active service and given a full exam from St. Mungo’s. There were some odd issues (she’s never been able to deal with intoxicants quite the same way, as they have a much more pronounced effect on her), and she’d inexplicably grown larger somehow, but apart from that, there wasn’t anything too distressing, apart from, again, the odd way she was suddenly able to switch herself off and on. Still, they didn’t feel good putting her back on active service, and instead offered her early retirement and a land and title in Scotland out of bravery and service. Alter, without many other options, accepted.
And finally, she felt free. She changed her name back to the one she preferred, keeping “Ingrid” as a middle name to explain why people called her that, and accepted her retirement graciously. Alter set about fixing things up on the estate, stocking it with magical creatures and regular creatures alike, also developing part of the land so she could raise cows and sheep. Without the need to switch off, she seemed much more at peace, entertaining guests, being her bright and odd self, babbling constantly and treating every guest like they were her best friend and family. She also adopted a much different aesthetic, attiring herself more to her claimed home’s vast countryside and incorporating older styles, things she’d seen in books, and generally what she could find as “country attire.“
Through the end of her service and retirement, she’d had more than a few people show interest in her, though for a while she’d managed to completely confound several people by, when asked if she’d like to come back to their place, smiling politely and asking, ”…why?“ She had her fill of nights where she wasn’t lonely, of course, a few men and even more women, but nothing particularly stuck. But one person stuck out above all the rest. With her, Alter never felt like she had to be anything, like she had to do anything other than what the two of them wanted. She was the last person Alter told before leaving for the fateful island, the first person Alter told she was okay when she got back, a constant guest at the country manor where Alter kept her estate, using occasional hunting and fishing to stave off the darker urges and always on the list at every party.
But while the two connected on some level, they stayed apart, Alter never wanting to infect her closest friend and confidante with the odd distance, with that darkness. But one day, about a year or two after Alter took her title, her friend confided something: First, that she’d been proposed to but she didn’t want to accept, and second, that she felt some odd ties and weight to Alter. Alter agreed, and the two decided that a month or two would be enough space to figure things out. Finally, after two months, Alter took a rather odd step. Rather than apparating, she flew her hunting hipogriff to her friend’s house in her shooting clothes and, once let inside, offered a proposition: She was an eccentric, but that worked, and she would love for the two of them to be eccentric together, but wouldn’t push it. If the eccentricity was too much, she’d leave her friend space and the two of them could go back to what they had.
In a scene that’s become a major joke and a minor source of embarrassment for Alter, the two rode off back to Alter’s manse and agreed they’d rather be eccentric together than apart. Arrangements were made for a small elopement and a civil partnership a few weeks later, and while her friend’s family did sort of disapprove of her marrying a wild and eccentric immigrant, Alter’s demeanor and stature was enough to convince them it wasn’t a mutable statement. The two resumed reading to each other nightly, gardening, practicing duels, enjoying their lands, and life in general
This peace lasted until, with the resurgence of magic, another representative came to Alter’s home. This one she sent packing, and the next two, but the fourth from the Ministry wasn’t asking. They needed her back, as there was a possibility that the recent statute breaches had dark origins. Alter agreed to join, but it caused numerous arguments between herself and her spouse, as well as worry that Alter would be thrown back into danger headfirst. But Alter knows danger always comes sooner or later, and she wants to stop it before it gets to those she cares for.
Connections:  - Alter’s spouse, the two of them live on a manse in Scotland in Alter’s barony and enjoy being eccentric nobility together, I’m leaving a lot of it open other than their marriage, that they’re relatively non-toxic with each other, and the broken engagement.
- Ministers and investigative aurors as well as other hit witches and wizards who would remember Alter from her time in the Ministry and probably have a great many thoughts about her reactivation.
Future plot ideas: Alter’s "dark side” getting a little out of control, tensions between her home life and her job at the ministry, her past catching up with her, intrigue with dark wizards, a family reunion of some sort.

CHARACTER BASICS
Name: Kayo Cecilie Date of Birth: April 7, 1995 Place of Birth: Nagano, Japan Actual Age/Age of appearance: 23 Marital Status: Single Sexual Orientation: Fluid Pronouns: She/Her Religion: She’s a rational skeptic only because it amuses her way too much Health details: None Occupation: Taskforce volunteer, forensic scientist
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION (OR WRITE A COUPLE PARAGRAPHS)
Height: 5'4" Eye Color: Brown Hair Color/Style: Long, dyes it multiple different colors depending on day and mood Aesthetic/Style: A lot of vintage clothing when she has days off, when she’s in the lab or on call she usually wears ripped-up jeans and T-shirts just in case she gets something untoward on them Other: A bunch of tattoos, several cartilage and lobe piercings Play-By Used: Asami Zdrenka
BACKGROUND AND CHARACTER
They had such plans for greatness, and she was not that.
The Ceciles were not a large wizarding family, nor were they particularly prestigious. Martin Cecile was a Danish-English anthropologist who found happiness with a Japanese animagus studying magical biology. When the rumors of the dark lord began to circulate again, they left the country and headed for Tamiko’s home prefecture to raise their child away from any potential turmoil. It also gave them a chance to study away from the restrictive and authority-bound nature of European magic, which they thought would have a positive effect should their daughter (and she would be a daughter) ever wish to travel back to her home country.
Unfortunately, this was not to be. The Ceciles did have a daughter, as lovely and inquisitive as they could ask for, as they watched her grow and taught her in the traditions, she grew up without a single magical bone in her body. She understood, of course, and could easily mimic the movements of her parents, and even came up with her own style, but there was nothing of her own. Her parents, unsure of what to do with her, took a different option and used their money and a few connections with the muggle world to send Kayo to a public school in England. They taught her as much as they could, of course, but there was only so much at their disposal, and it was clear she wouldn’t fit into the wizarding world.
In her new environs, Kayo felt lost. She had to adapt quickly, her parents had very little contact with her, and she felt isolated. But in that isolation, she found something new. While muggles didn’t have anything particularly magical, they had their own disciplines that kind of mimicked it, something called “science.” Her connection to her own world severed, Kayo took to every possible discipline she could, spending all her time in the library, asking her teachers if she could take advanced classes, and in general applying herself to every scientific and mathematical discipline she could.
For the most part, her teachers and the other students were weirded out by someone who didn’t know how to use a telephone but would devote entire evenings to learning differential equations and tried to take apart a cell phone to see how it worked. When the school finally got a computer lab, things didn’t get any weirder, as Kayo quickly figured out how to use them and then did even more research on there. She also didn’t seem to specialize, instead just wanting “more science.” But slowly she began to normalize as she learned more about the world around her, and toned down the oddness. She was still very high-energy and had focus issues, but Kayo didn’t have nearly the issues she’d had when she was dropped off at the school.
But also as she grew older, her refusal to specialize became something of a problem. She didn’t have enough time to do everything in the day, and was forced to find a way to specialize. She held out as long as she could, but finally found a way around things. One of the AP classes she took turned out to be a forensic science course, and something clicked. She was able to use all her knowledge, it was just separated into various disciplines, but the important part was that all of it worked.
Using the excuse of an independent study, Kayo poured all her free time into learning forensics, even taking courses at a college credit so that she could further her studies. By the time she was ready for university, she’d even transferred enough credits over that she could easily sail into a degree after taking her A levels, getting into University College London and pushing herself through early graduation and into a full postgrad degree.
During this time, she also began interning with the Metro PD, using it as lab time and practical hours to help further things. Her coworkers tended to react oddly to the young woman who seemed cheerful and excited about all the things they were doing no matter how grisly, her weird appearance that included odd protection emblems tattooed all over her body and hair that seemed to change color week to week, and who tended to be unusually optimistic about a job that showed humanity at its worst.
When she finally graduated, she gained a permanent spot at the lab, and without the education in the way, she was a much more open and sociable presence, attacking each case with a cheerful eccentricity and an absolute love for the weirder cases. It was this aplomb and genuine interest in weird cases that meant the Ministry reached out to Kayo, even though she continued to at least pretend to vehemently disbelieve in magic, despite her heritage. It was a sort of small petty revenge, magic turned its back on her, so she could turn her back on it. But she knew what the dangers and risks to magic getting out were, even if she was looked down on in magic society, and she joined the task force to help as one of the muggle liasons.
Connections: Coworkers, former classmates, people who know her parents’ work on Japanese magic and culture
Future plot ideas: She could possibly be converted if someone showed her how to apply magic to the studies she already knows.

The Task Force’s headquarters is in the Kenwood House. Kenwood House is a former stately home, in Hampstead, London, on the northern boundary of Hampstead Heath. The house was originally constructed in the 17th century and served as a residence for the Earls of Mansfield through the 18th and 19th centuries. Part of the estate was bought by the Guinness family in the early 20th century, and the whole property and grounds came under ownership of the London County Council and was open to the public by the end of the 1920s.
Now, it is “under heavy renovations” according to muggles. Muggles will be turned away before they even step foot on the property with thoughts such as, “Oh no, I left my stove on!” or “I think I just lost my keys. I’ve got to find them!”
The Task Force Volunteers stay in shared rooms. They have daily schedules with “Classes” they must attend. Training ranges from Muggle-Proofing, Obliviation Techniques, Defensive and Offensive Magic, History of Muggle-Wizard Relations, and other slotted subjects focused on solutions to situations that Task Force members will find themselves once the program is finished.

BACKGROUND AND CHARACTER
Lyra is a muggleborn and went to Hogwarts, as all British wizards do. Her story is a bit different, however. Both of her parents were killed during the time of Voldemort and his open persecution of muggles, and Lyra was raised by her grandmother (Margaret) who was a squib. When she was a child, Margaret Morgan’s family sent her away to a convent, essentially abandoning her, and as an adult, she’d assimilated amongst muggles, married a muggle, Lyra’s grandfather, and the two of them had muggle children. Lyra was the first and only witch in the family, her lineage stemming from Margaret. Although Margaret was hesitant to allow Lyra to go to Hogwarts, simply because of Margaret’s own bitterness against her wizard family, it was impossible to keep Lyra away because she started showing signs of magic at an early age.
Otherwise, Lyra lived among muggles, had muggle friends, and was practically muggle herself. Although neither she nor her grandmother ever had straight-out talks about the obvious, ridiculous segregation between muggles and the magically-inclined (the line between them that has always been so heavily enforced and controlled by wizards), the disadvantage and unfairness that Lyra felt growing up was palpable.
No one in their extended family knew about Lyra being magical, and Margaret explained to Lyra that it was because of the strict laws of the Ministry of Magic. Exceptions could be made sometimes, but not for the rest of their family. The risk was too great. They could be arrested. As a result, Lyra lived her life with a secret, a burden, and often times, it was unbearable. The excuse was: Lyra attended boarding school (as a good number of muggles did). Lyra loved Hogwarts - all students do - but she was torn when she’d go back home, and often felt guilty for having the opportunities that she had. Margaret didn’t outright resent her, but Lyra made sure to not use magic in her grandmother’s presence, and especially around their other family.
There were a few accidental instances that were cause for alarm, like levitating teacups and whatnot, which were handled by Margaret and Lyra with tons of excuses and insistent logic. The Ministry was never called, but there were many close calls that eventually had Lyra living on edge all the time. By the time she graduated Hogwarts, it was a relief because she could decide just how much magic to use.
She always had an inner turmoil and questions that were never answered: Why was she born a witch? Why did her grandmother have not an ounce of magical potential? Why did Lyra have to hide who she was? Would it really be that bad if her secret came out? Why did the Ministry always threaten with arrests and Azkaban? Was the Statute of Secrecy not archaic? Witch hunts were over. Was Wizardkind ever going to evolve, move out of the dark ages? They were outnumbered by so many muggles and yet they held so much power. What was there to be afraid of?
After Hogwarts, Lyra traveled around Europe, visited America (where wizards were warier of no-majs even more than they were in the UK), and returned to England, where she worked odd jobs and refused to take a wizarding career. She’d even attended a small muggle college for a short time with forged documents from muggle schools. Through her travels, she met many people, wizards and muggles alike, but she particularly bonded with a few people who shared her mindsets and who were linked to a bigger group of Wizards. This group did not have a name but rumor was that they were funded by an old witch out of France, and wizards from elsewhere.
When magic started occurring, entirely on its own, it was as if it was a sign. Mother Nature, Fate, whatever you want to call - it was as if it was taking matters into its own hands. Lyra was chosen by people up the ladder and tasked with joining the Task Force in order to spy for them, and maybe even convert a few wizards or witches along the way.
She knows that there’s another - Sophia Desmarais, a french Auror - who is on the “same side” so to speak, but Lyra doesn’t know her personally. She simply knows that, going in, Sophia will be her point person. It’s a bit of a relief to know that she’s not alone, but truth be told, Lyra has the sense that some people (who believe that magical exposure is a good thing, too) are more radical than she, are more capable than she, and are far less innocent. Wizards like Voldemort killed her parents after all, and many more people’s parents, and Gillert Grindlewald was a tyrant and tried to build upon a sense of superiority. They were terrible people.
After meeting those friends of hers - and the only reason that they became her friends in the first place was because she knew they were good people, not followers of dark wizards - Lyra didn’t sense any fooling. If they were radicals, there’s no way in hell that she would’ve sided with them. She’s not like that. Their beliefs are based on logic and reason. Not prejudice and hatred. Or so that’s what she’s been around, what she’s been told and shown.
Even if she has doubts now, it’s too late to back out. The only thing that Lyra has is her morals, her own beliefs, and she will stick by them.
Connections
Sophia Desmarais: Never met her, just knows that she’s Lyra’s connection Other people: From her past, muggles, wizards, other wizards from the group of “like-minded individuals”

Wizards and Technology
The WWN
The Wizarding Wireless Network (usually abbreviated to WWN ) is a popular wizarding wireless station. After Voldemort’s era, the WWN has expanded to using televisions, on which they now stream quidditch games, live feeds of concerts, news (directly from the Ministry of Magic), and even cooking shows.
Most wizard-born children grew up listening to the station on the radio. Now, many wizards own television sets of their own, in color, and can even program muggle stations if they so desire.
Telephones, cell phones, internet.
Wizards have not adopted any of these into their communities. In terms of communication, they still prefer owling, head-only floo transport, two-way mirrors, or any other magical means of communications.
Transportation
Likewise, most wizards apparate, floo, portkey, or use broomsticks as their means of transportation. Some wizards have flying cars, but cars are defined as a Muggle artifacts, and are, therefore, illegal to enchant under British wizarding law. Nevertheless, the British Ministry is known to have a fleet of flying cars and can navigate traffic with ease.

British Ministry of Magic
The headquarters of the Ministry are in Whitehall, in central London, deep underground. It is headed by the Minister for Magic. As of 2019, the Minister for Magic is Hermione Granger. Each Prime Minister of Great Britain is visited by the Minister for Magic.
Visitors’ Entrance A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffiti. When the telephone in the box is dialled (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch’s voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor’s name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium.
The Atrium The Atrium, located on level 8, is a large hall with fireplaces up and down both long walls. Down the left-hand side of the hall are gilded fireplaces which witches and wizards can use to arrive at the Ministry. The right-hand side contains gilded fireplaces as well, and these are used for departures. The floor is polished dark wood. The ceiling is peacock blue with golden symbols moving across it. The Fountain of Magical Brethren lies halfway down the Atrium. A group of golden statues, depicting a wizard, a witch, a centaur, a goblin, and a house-elf, spout water into the surrounding pool of water.
At the end of the Atrium is a set of golden gates, next to which is a security stand. The Watchwizard registers the wands of visitors. Another smaller hall is beyond the gates and here there is a series of lifts. The lifts provide access to the other levels, except the tenth.
Levels Level one is the location of the offices of the Minister for Magic and other administrative staff. Level two is the location of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Level three houses the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. Level four contains the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Level five is the Department of International Magical Cooperation. Level six contains the Department of Magical Transportation. Level seven is the location of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. Level eight is the Atrium and Level nine is the Department of Mysteries.
Level ten can only be reached by the stairs to the left of the door which leads to the Department of Mysteries on level nine. Courtroom Ten was first seen during Harry’s first forays into Dumbledore’s Pensieve, when he witnessed various Death Eater trials. Dungeon-like corridors lead to Courtroom Ten. The walls of the courtroom are dark stone. In the centre of the room is a chair covered in chains that stands below rows of high benches on which the Wizengamot sit.
