It’s called a double standard.

If they’re willing to bitch about how “manipulative” Mary is, then by god they should be screaming from the mountains what a manipulative, narcissistic, gaslighting, douchebag of a bastard Dutch is. They should even call out Hosea and how he’s not exempt from blame either. Both ask Arthur to do very dangerous things that often result in people getting killed and increasing the bounty on Arthur’s head while Mary’s favors pretty much consist of riding around, talking to some people, tailing some people, with shooting a gun out of Jamie’s hand to stop him from offing himself being the most extreme thing Arthur had to do.

When people say that Mary is manipulative it makes me pause a little

Did she ask Arthur multiple times for help? Yeah. Did she ask him specifically cause of his skill set and his relationship with her? Of course. Do I think it was malicious? Absolutely not!! Mary is a flawed character just like everyone else in the story. She loved Arthur sure, but he’s an outlaw, being with him would ultimately put herself and her younger brother in danger. She is hyper aware of that. It makes sense that she has complicated feelings towards him and feels like because of their history she can still call upon him to help

Arthur is manipulated by many characters in the story who are far worse than Mary (DUTCH). Arthur loved her, and in Saint Denis he wanted to go with her, she wanted to run away with him. There was no manipulation there, if Arthur didn’t feel this great responsibility towards the gang, if he wasn’t so deep into the cult like following of Dutch, I think he would’ve gone

Idk the amount of discourse and hatred when it comes to the very few important women in rdr makes me angry. Wether it’s saying Mary is manipulative, Sadie is annoying, or villainizing abigail for her past prostitution, it all feels very wrapped up in misogyny

This is the same with women. A lot of times they don’t even meet or know each other really in fandoms and people just go crazy about shipping them together and creating all sorts of FanFiction and art, like, can women just be friends or is that a dead thing.

Let’s be real here, I’m a Thraina shipper and so are a lot of other people.

The ship feels like such a natural one, one that wasn’t forced or made for the plot, or that one character wasn’t created for the SINGLE PURPOSE OF BEING THE LOVE INTEREST OF ANOTHER (Looking at you Aggra). Blizzard unknowingly created an incredible ship that would make for a great relationship, and some of them know it.

It all starts in the games where they meet and are at first weary of each other but work together against the common threat, and along the way building trust and bonding. They both share the goal of ending the conflict between their people and making a better world. They become friends and through interaction between each other and other characters, it’s shown that they deeply care for each other. Thralls tone when he speaks about Jaina and worry in regards to her health when it comes to her father is very heartwarming, same goes for Jaina. Some characters even call them out on their love though they obviously bring up the race difference (Orcs really find it a shame that Jaina isn’t a orc). This continues into the books where the dialogue and lines and descriptions just really scream the care these two characters have for each other even after everything that’s happened.

They support each other when needed and have conversations that easily take up their time due to how much they enjoy it. It’s as if their hearts, souls, and bodies are just screaming for them to be together, to be happy, but their minds say no due to the obligations and responsibilities they both have to their people and allies, and the societal pressures don’t help as Orcs are not supposed to get along with Humans just as Humans are not supposed to get along with Orcs. Then Chris Metzen get petty about the ship as he doesn’t like it so he went out of his way to create a character who’s sole purpose was to destroy the ship and act as a baby maker for one of the characters, and force a relationship-no- TWO relationships to make the ship impossible to actually happen. Jaina and Kalecgos was just too sudden and really didn’t work or really make sense, and Thrall and Aggra really just spent a huge amount of the supposed to be romantic bonding hating each other only to turn around at the very end to say they love each other and want to get married. He even rubbed it into the shippers faces by having Jaina cry at the wedding. He ruined Thrall in the process as he changed his character into someone that was horrible and selfish. Thrall wanted to change things and make things better and actually cared for his friends and allies, but then he just turned around and left them to suffer. Cairne died, Vol'jin almost died, Baine was forced to become Chieftain early during a difficult time for his people as their beliefs and ways were being tested, Jaina lost Theramore as well as a lot of people close to her, and etc. Jaina loosing Theramore was a huge turning point in their relationship, Thrall promised that the Horde wouldn’t mess with Theramore again, that he’d be there for her, but when he changed. He wasn’t. He left her to suffer as she lost everything, he never even apologized until the Crossroads cinematic, a cinematic that takes place YEARS after Theramore’s destruction. Before his change in character, if Theramore was destroyed, Thrall would have dropped everything to go check on Jaina and make sure she was okay and do anything he could to help her. Because of Thralls lack of action, Jaina suffered a lot and almost went completely off the deep end and when she almost went too far, he stepped in to stopped her. That’s when he should have realized that things weren’t right and that he should start to fix things but he didn’t and everything just continued to get worst after that. In the end, Thrall was the one that gave up on creating peace even though he was the one that had a more obvious and stronger desire to make it happen, and he left Jaina to have to continue on her own and fail. I’m glad Thrall finally started admitting his failures instead of denying that he was at fault. Even after all the stuff that’s happened and how at this point it should be impossible for the ship to sail, Blizzard still unknowingly adds fuel and teases the ship. The hand on arm touch on the Crossroads cinematic, and the staring during Saurfangs funeral support it. Someone on Twitter posted how they were so happy that a datamine for Shadowlands revealed that Thraina was going to happen or that it was going to be official or something like that and I don’t know if that’s going to make it into the final version or not, but I’m still happy because I means that there’s hope for this ship. Before, the ship wouldn’t have really worked for Blizzards plan for Warcraft because the big attraction of Warcraft was the faction conflict and these two getting together could’ve threatened it due to the influence they both have, but now, people are getting tired of the faction conflict as it’s getting repetitive and making no sense and almost as if they’re just looking for reasons to make it happen when it shouldn’t, especially after everythings that’s happened. Blizzards decision to have the Horde and Alliance work together was both historic and the beginning of the end for the faction conflict idea.

The two sides have worked together to stop threats they couldn’t beat on their own and as a result, saw the potential an alliance would have and created a desire to see it happen. The faction conflict started to seem more pointless as time went on as people realize how the two factions don’t need to do it. A war based on past transgressions and hatred is doomed to eventually end and if forced to continue as a game mechanic, fail. The past begins to hold less meaning over the present and the people that harbor the hatred for the other side begin to disappear and die. What’s in the past is in the past and be dweld on to the point that it affects the decisions of future generations that can change things for the better. A war of ideals though is a war that can possibly never end, especially one where the sides ideals conflict with each other. Look at Star Wars, the Jedi and Sith can never get along because their beliefs about the force contradict each other and so they may never accept each other and will always be at odds with each other no matter what happens. Unless Warcraft starts a new Faction conflict that is based on ideals and not hatred or race where people decide their side based on their beliefs and get to choose any race they want, Warcraft will have to put an end to the faction conflict if they want the story to make sense. That said, with the faction conflict ending, there’s no need for Thrall and Jaina to not be together as their positions are different now and make it much more possible.

Well for Pandaria, he was married to Aggra, you know , the women that says the things he likes and believes in are wrong all the time and doesn’t like him showing weakness even when stressed, so yeah he would seem like a “Sad old man” in this situation. She could have really went hard on him, of course Jaina wouldn’t have, she probably would have been more understanding and supportive and ok with him breaking down, but hey I’m a Thraina shipper, Metzen himself hates people like me, he will go as far as to make characters that serve no other purpose than to wreck the ship and has Jaina come to their wedding crying to rub it in our faces like “haha your ship will never happen!”. I honestly don’t know if the guy respects his own fans if he’s willing to do something like that, I mean seriously, first he tells us he hates it then he goes out of his way to ruin it for us and rub it in out faces, I swear he is being petty, and in the process, ruining the characters, making Thrall a selfish jerk who leaves his friends to suffer and not really say sorry and fix his own mess until it becomes a problem he ‘has’ to deal with, and Jaina a Horde hating psycopath that nearly drowns Orgrimmar. The worst part is that Thrall doesn’t even try to say sorry or help her, he just leaves her to despair while he goes off to talk to spirits and do nothing. I’m honestly glad their repairing the characters now after the shit they made them into and would be happy if it ends in them being together now. It would have been a very long developing one, but a very natural and real relationship

Honestly, since OverWatch is a video game, not real life, I think shipping whoever with whoever is fine. I ship Tracer with Genji because they are two of my favorite characters. I’m not trying to be lesbophobic, I have no problem with lesbians, nor do I have a problem with Tracer being canonically gay. All I’m trying to say is that with video games especially, there should be no limits with shipping.
